agreed,  it's a great list, but worthless until all the nescac schools are included.  i'll try to locate some eph records....hope someone is working on the others....

Friar T

My thanks to all the guys who dug up all these records. They've been a great read. I've been out traveling the country, spreading the Word, but I'll be back at the pulpit soon with new topics and preaching from my journey...

Jan. 6 is coming...

G'Night Mrs. Quigley, whereever you are...

Amen.

Wooster goes down tonight to Cal Baptist 94-89.   Tough loss for the Scots.  Cal Baptist is a middle of the row team in the GSAC conference which is one the best NAIA Div 1 leagues in the country.  Next voting will be interesting to see if Amherst may get the votes to move into the 1 ranking in the next poll.

Pat Coleman

The next vote is scheduled for release Jan. 3.

I'm a Camels fan(I'm working on their Stats), but I am a Hamilton alum and the Continentals get no love on this site...it probably has something to do with the fact that they don't play in the league. Nevertheless, they used to play a full NESCAC schedule and they have some impressive all-time stats:

Good work on the Ham Tech stats.  When was the last year they played a full NESCAC schedule.  It would be unfair to not have those guys records in the book.  And they do have some very impressive numbers.

   mike crotty '04             1402  819 assists  '04-249 assists- started 120 gms.

geoff chapin '96, jim frew '99,  tim folan '03, drew demuth '03 have been added to the list, but i don't have their numbers....

Jan. 3 will prove to be a very interesting day for the Jeffs...

I'm not only anxious to see if they take over the #1 spot, and acquire the bulls-eye that goes along with it, but also to see where they will stand among the national statistical leaders. It's wild that Amherst ranks in the top three in EVERY team category except defensive rebounds (which is a skewed statistic as they allow their opponents fewer shots and therefore have less opportunity at defensive boards). I have no doubt that they'll lead the nation in scoring margin, but I'm really curious about scoring defense (55.8 ppg), rebounding margin (+11) and assists per game (21.8).

The NESCAC should contribute in a few other places as Aaron Smith's 71% FG percentage should be up there along with Ray's 3 steals per game and Cohen's 3 blocks per game.

It's so lonely at the top of Olympus...

Amen.

Don't forget three-point percentage.  Jake Weitzen and Andrew Hippert (Bowdoin) have both been insane this season.

Recruiting Classes?

I heard Amherst has a fantastic recruiting class coming in next year...highlighted by human highlight film steve "flash" nelson..i have seen him place in a few AAU summer tourneys and this kid is amazing..he reminds me of a young Lebron, looking like a man among boys on the high school court...on one occasion i saw him strip the ball from an opposing player, sprint by two players on the other team, lay the ball in, and eat a cheeseburger and shake before the ball hit the floor...man that kid is quick...the one knock I have on him is that he does not move the ball.... he often seems to think that he is playing 1 on 5, and will shoot from anywhere...it appears nelson is the only person not to acknowledge this major weakness in his game...nevertheless, this kid can play and should bolster an amherst offense which may be hurting with kessler's graduation...the other top recruit i believe is david litt out of maryland...david plays an old man's game, relying on great vision and an understanding of the game, as a serious jumproping injury damaged his achilles and has hindered his mobility..fortunately, david has supposedly been spending an ABSURD amount of time in the weight room, and has really sculpted his body into the mold of a D1 power forward...can't wait to see how these guys pan out next year...thoughts?

Where is Nelson from?

I have heard about Litt...he is supposedly going to be a great addition to the Amherst frontcourt. He is the kind of wide body that Amherst has been missing during their last couple NCAA runs. Supposedly he turned down scholarship offers to both American University and Lehigh to committ to Amherst. 6'7, 240 with very good hands is the word. He needs to get into better shape but I'm sure Hixon can take care of that. Any other early decision announcements to nescac schools?

Friar T

Well, we've established that Baller10 has no clue what he's talking about...

Just wrong to mess with dudes like this BooBalls, just wrong...

God bless Nelly, god bless DLitt

Bennett is supposedly the best post man Amherst's EVER recruited. This is an incredible statement considering how dirty Fitzsimmons was. They also inked a 6'6" kid who's other viable option was Princeton. I think we'll be glad to have him too. Heaven forbid Hixon's able to get anyone else, but it's safe to say he will...

Good call on Bowser and Hipp Hop on the 3-pt % Eclinchy. I'm also curious to see what happens with Olson's production with more than 26 minutes per game. 10 and 7 now, later could be scary...

Amen.

formerbant10

Friar,

In regards to Olson's numbers....playing more minutes does not always mean more production.  It may take him 33-34 minutes against Bates to get the same points and assists against a lesser opponent.

But the kid is good, there's no questioning that.  And there's nothing wrong with 10 and 7 in 30 minutes either.

"Bowser?"  Seriously?

I'm very curious to see how Olson does against Shepherd on Jan. 12.  I cannot WAIT for the Amherst-Tufts game... so many interesting matchups.  Also I love how the post matchups are going to be two Dans against two Brians. ;D

Friar T,
Are you Tanner Lipsett? If so, probably the biggest fool I've ever encountered. Get your life together.

david lit, if he loses some weight, will be a PHENOMENAL player in the nescac
