Good game to watch online.

Hey CasRay: Coach C IS in the Hall of Fame. Look under his name. You do your namesake no favors with your remark.

Whew... did it again. I really thought with so much OT experience this season the Jumbos would have us. Any update from Lewistown?

Friar T

Another Instant Classic between the Jeffs and Jumbos...

Tufts gave Amherst all they could handle in this one, but Olson, Wheeler and Baskauskas showed why the Jeffs are one of the best teams in the land. I don't think Tufts could've played better tonight, honestly.

Big props to Tufts for coming out ready to play. They couldn't miss in the first 25-30 minutes of the game, and even once they came back to earth still played good enough defense to keep Amherst in check.

Weitzen is unreal and doesn't get enough touches on that team. GREAT things happen when he has the ball. They either shoot well or lose when he doesn't.

Olson is as good as advertised if not better. His maturity is starting to catch up with his talent and that's a scary thought. BJones is light-years ahead of where he was last year and Bausky is going to be one of the premier scorers in the nation before he's done.

Tufts announcers were BRUTAL! They didn't know what was going on half the time and the color guy was a mix between TNT's Kenny Smith and Rain Man... Clinchy, do something with that guy... I could take up a collection from the congregation to send him to broadcast school? It's one thing to support your school and play home team and it's another to completely wear blinders. Vitale has an excuse, he only has one eye. What's that guy's?

Pat Coleman

I thought the play by play guy was just fine. But yeah, the one guy ... needs to talk less, let's just say that.

The Franchise

Midd 100- Colby 93.  I knew that Farrell was a great player, but he seemed to have the game of his life, yet Midd was still able to prevail.  The official stats aren't in yet so I don't know how many points he finished with, but he was lights out. He was burying 3's from NBA range, hitting mid range fall aways, and was single handedly keeping Colby in the game.  However, Midd was able to neutralize Cohen as he was in foul trouble all night and he eventually fouled out.  Midd was able to show how potent their offense could be as multiple players continued to make big shots. Rudin and Edwards ran the point efficiently, Harris and Thompson buried their outside J's and Aaron Smith continued to be a beast in the paint.  Maybe this is the year that Midd makes some noise in the Nescac.

Andrew Olson = a poor man's Steve Nash?  He was unreal tonight driving to the lane.

I was very impressed with BJones' play.  With Goldsmith and now O'Shea down, I was definitely worried, but it seems like Jones is going to be okay down there.  He has added a number of moved to the offensive repertoire since last season and doesn't look nearly as lost on D this year.  His help defense down the wire made a difference, I thought.

No hating on Jumbocast.  Without them we would have missed that great game!

Now, does Olson playing most of this OT game affect tomorrow's matchup with Bates?  I'm sorry that WAMH won't be up there to broadcast that one, but the 4-hour drive plus obligations back at the 'Herst is keeping me home this weekend...

Bates' website is reporting that the Bobcats are undefeated no longer.  Trinity won, 68-63.

Big win for the Bants and Jeffs.  Let's see if their depth helps them tomorrow.  Both played in demanding games and need to use the momentum from tonight's wins to carry them through the Saturday matchups.

Bates and Trinity played evenly in every respect except one:  foul shooting.  The difference between the two in foul shooting was considerably more than the difference in the game.  Bates was awful from the foul line (around 50%) and Trinity missed only 1 foul shot all night.  Both had approximately the same number of chances at the line.  If Bates had made even half of the fould shots they missed we'd be looking at a very different outcome.

I was surprised that Stockwell wasn't guarding Martin underneath.  Instead, O'Keefe and Taylor tag-teamed the guarding of Martin underneath.  Although it kept Stockwell out of foul-trouble (which I think was the intent) I think it allowed Martin to take advantage of slightly weaker defenders and get a few extra points he might not have scored against Stockwell.  On the other hand Stockwell could have fouled out quickly guarding Martin and that might have been worse.  I'm certainly glad I'm not a coach.

Congratulations to Trinity on a game well played.  I think that if these two teams matched up again it would be just as even whether played at Trinity, Bates, or a neutral site.  I'm still confused as to how Springfield managed to upend the Bantams earlier this year, as I'm quite certain that Bates and Trinity are both considerably better than Springfield and tonights game (as with most Bates v. Trinity games) could have gone either way.

Oh well,  Trinity giveth and Trinity taketh away.  (This referring to the Bobcats home win-streak that began against Trinity two years ago, and ended today.)  It looks like formerbant was right.  I don't see Bates defeating Amherst tomorrow, and that means that a most unlikely home sweep of the Bobcats just got far more likely.

Here's hoping for a miracle.

Cheers,

Terrific game at Middlebury. A shootout. Middlebury shot the lights out early but Colby withstood it - 48-41 at the half. Middlebury got up 13 in the second half but Farrell kept Colby in the game. 5 point game with 2 minutes left. Middlebury hit their foul shots. Very intense game, well-played, up and down the court. Middlebury was 58% from the floor (52% from three); Colby (51%; 48%).  Middlebury won on the glass 37-28.

What a good time it is to watch Farrell. Played 40 minutes, pell mell, hitting threes from 25' with Edwards (6'4" and quick) draped on him: 32 pts.

Smith 8-9 fg; 4-6 ft; 11 rebs, in 27 minutes, Walsh, and Marcous did a good job bottling up Cohen. Choice (FR) had a nice game for Colby.

(I played against Farrell's dad in high school in Maine: he was a good player at UMaine; this "old guy" is old).

Middlebury goes 11 deep. I hope that depth helps tomorrow afternoon against Bowdoin who had a tough game at Williams.
