Formerbant, I think more than just nescac hoops are interested in where you're playing--it's not a shameless plug at all. What's happening?

Formerbant10, it doesn't matter who you are or where you're playing.  You can't take down alcoholic5 (er, ballaholic4).  He "actually played competitive basketball."  He knows "certain nuances" that us mere mortals don't.  Not only that, but he brings a boat-load of towels and and ankle tape with him...and sneakers too (or wait, I think I'm supposed to bring the sneakers).

Sincerely,

Formerspife

Other than CC, I love them Tarheels and can't stop fascinating about them beating Amherst 200-75 with 35 of Amherst's points coming from John Bedford who Carolina let play to give the Jeffs a boost.

Please don't let this morph into the annual "can our guys play at the D-I level debate." I'm merely high off of the Heels big win over Dook.

Can we play out some scenerios at the bottom for the 5,6,7,8 seeds?

If the Camels sweep this weekend I think they get in with 3 wins, but they still might need a specific loss in the Colby-Bowdoin game. Does anyone else care!? Help a brother out!

Ryan Scott (Hoops Fan)

Wesleyan's got the inside track on the last spot.  They have the same two opponents as CC, but only have to win one.

Bowdoin would have to sweep Bates and Tufts, which is rather unlikely.

Great congrats, why don't you and your Uncle Vitale go celebrate together... It's bad enough that we have to listen to it on ESPN constantly...

Good call Hoops Fan, however if Trinity doesn't make the finals they're not guaranteed a spot, Bates is questionable and Tufts is out. I wouldn't say that's too crazy...

Thanks for the info MrMike. What's a guy gotta do to get a shout out on the air?!?! Let me know if you need a halftime guest...

As much as it pains me to do it, I have to defend Bowdoin a little bit. They've played NESCAC teams hard this year, beating Trinity, staying with Williams, and leading Bates until the last basket of the game in their non-conference matchup. Plus, though Bates and Tufts are highly ranked teams in terms of expectations, they've led the way in terms of inconsistency in the league. Obviously it's less likely that they sweep this weekend, but I wouldn't count on either game being a gimme, and I wouldn't rule out a PBear sweep. I think they'll probably take one game, and I guess since I'm picking a Bates sweep this weekend, I'll go on record (not that I have walzy's predictive powers) as saying they'll win the Tufts game. I feel dirty just talking about Bowdoin winning anything....

UNC was impressive over Duke, gotta love Lawson and Wright.

Despite their inconsistency, I look for Bates to take both games this weekend at home. Alumni should be packed with fans on both sides, and hopefully the thermostat will read triple digits. Zak's been playing the best ball of his life lately, at least according to the numbers, so that's a notch in Bates' favor. If they can build momentum and confidence going into the NESCAC tourney, perhaps there is hope for this team after all. Now we'll see just how much of a winners' mentality they have built up, Red...

hoopjunkie

Well I am predicting a Junmbos sweep !! They havent had a nescac home game
with student there yet this year . Cousens get get pretty loud & after the
Williams win & the fact that when Tufts wins both games this weekend , they
will have the 2 spot .

ephoops

Formerbant10

I'd like to go to the game this Saturday.  I called Trinity's athletic department and they said that tickets are not sold in advance.  Is Trinity expecting a sell out?  What's your advice on when I should arrive for the 3:00 pm start in order to make sure I get a ticket.

Thanks.

hoopjunkie-- good point, those Medford (not Waltham) fans get pretty loud. Maybe Bowdoin will lose both after all!

hoopjunkie

That being said , things as we all know this year in the nescac have been wacky.
teams that should win don`t ( of course other then Amherst) , but what I do believe in
big time is home court advantage . Crowds DO get real loud & these guys are not
NBA stars or D1 stars where you get use to loud crowds . Some non league games
thru out the year, you sometimes only get 100-200 people & its pretty quiet . The contrast
when you get 1000-1500 people & your at the foul line in a 1& 1 situation  with 3 seconds
left, down 2 at an away court , THAT IS PRESSURE .

williams should be in good shape. geez, they played at midd where the panther faithful could rival the cameron crazies according to some. haha.

ephoops,
trinity can hold quite a few fans in there gym. those stands extend pretty high up but they are only on one side of the gym. on the other side is a track (?)/balcony that looks down onto the floor. i don't know if they will sell out but it will probably be pretty packed. i would get there around 2:30 to get a decent seat that isn't way high up or on the other side standing.

mrmike,
are you calling the game on saturday? i have never listened to an amherst game on radio before b/c i have been able to make all the williams/amherst games in recent past but i would be interested to hear the game this weekend. is that same guy who did the PA announcing at the last williams/amherst game going to be on air with you? everybody on the eph side really liked him. hilarious. i hadn't laughed so hard since seeing borat and had tears in my eyes from doing so.

nescac hoops: JeffRookie and I are going to call the Amherst-Trinity game Saturday from Hartford, if all goes to plan.  I personally love the matchups with the Bants.  Just like Tufts the last two years, Trinity-Amherst is always a battle.  I think they definitely merit the high regional ranking they got this week.  They have a ton of talented players and there should be several good matchups out there on the court on Saturday.

Personally I think if Tufts loses anything the rest of the way, it has to be the Colby game, since Cohen could give them fits.

But Tufts is a TERRIBLE matchup for Bowdoin.  Whenever teams with a lot of outside shooters like Bradley and Hippert try to outgun Tufts, they just end up getting buried by Weitzen/O'Keefe/Pierce.

Personally I'm predicting that Tufts and Williams both cruise, finish 6-3, and Trinity loses by 20 to Amherst.  Hello, three-way tie.

Dr E. Spengler

CC, was that supposed to be funny?  Or did you actually enjoy telling us what you think the final score would be in a UNC-Amherst game?

I can only quote my old friend Gozer in asking, "Are you a god?"

Ty Lawson...Andrew Olson...Bob Cousy Award...

I saw one, one time, that said the world was ending the next week. Then in the next week's paper, they said we were miraculously saved at the zero hour by a Koala-fish mutant bird.

in all fairness doctor, your posts aren't even close to funny either. they aren't even clever, they are simply just stupid.
