Culture yourself, son aka get on my level.

sorry, while i have understood all of your references/quotes (dr. spengler, "tufts and trinity crosses streams", koala-fish mutant bird, etc.) to ghostbusters i just don't find them funny or clever even though ghostbusters was once my favorite movie. perhaps walzy can give me that time machine and i can go back to when i was 10 years old and then i can be on your cultural level.

walzy31

Matt/Andrew/Necac Hoops,
I will send you the time machine asap. Enjoy reminiscing the glory days of the Ephs, and Ghost Busters.

LINE CHANGE:

Amherst -11.5 @ Trinity
Due to the likely absence of East LongGhetto's finest, Russ Martin. Martin is listed as "doubtful" on Yahoo Sports NESCAC fantasy website.
o/u = 145.5

Dr E. Spengler

nescac hoops, your failure to actually understand the reference in the post of which you are quoting makes you more wrong than ever...certainly impressive for someone who is wrong so often

I hate when the people can't shut up about the stupid tabloid headlines!

Walzy...three stacks of high society on Amherst giving the points.  The beast inside with the front page of the website.  A beautiful thing no doubt, as he will have a double-double in Hartford.

Hartford...the whale...they only beat Vancouver ONCE, maybe TWICE in a lifetime.

I'd like to go to the game this Saturday.  I called Trinity's athletic department and they said that tickets are not sold in advance.  Is Trinity expecting a sell out?  What's your advice on when I should arrive for the 3:00 pm start in order to make sure I get a ticket.

Thanks.

No charge to view the regular season spectacle.  Should be a decent crowd, but Oosting seats about 2,000 and I doubt there will be that many.

Formerspife,

Can you bring an extra pair of sneaks for me when we take on ballaholic?

Did you download the plays I sent you?

walzy, i bet you know someone of age who would also like ghostbusters....

dr,
i was putting a "spin" on your quote. your posts are stupid and quite frankly, i don't think anybody reads them too closely. if you're a real doctor, do amherst a favor and go fix hixon's achilles.

I'm going to be incommunicado (Spanish for "having limited Internet access") until next Thursday, so Red's going to have to hold down the Bates commentary for the both of us. I'm already on record for a men's sweep of the CBB title, and I think the women will dispatch Colby and give Bowdoin a run for their money, but ultimately fall short.

However, I'd like to be on record for one behemoth being upset: I'm taking Trinity over Amherst this weekend (and by "I'm taking," I mean, that's what I think...I don't share Walzy's bookie). The obvious home court/energy advantage goes to Trinity, and my opinion of Amherst has actually decreased based on the only measurement I have of them. When I saw them against Bates in January, I came on the board saying they were "the best team I've ever seen" at this level. Whether that was hyperbole or me trying to justify Bates' horrible weekend, I truly felt that way. But after seeing the holes in Bates' game, and listening to other opinions on this board, I'm recalibrating that. My comment was based on my expectation that Bates would be a 1 or 2 loss team this season, which I truly believed. Bates has gone on to lose 4, and look vulnerable in many other games. So, I no longer see Amherst as invincible. Trinity showed me a winners' mentality, a toughness, and a sound team game in their defeat of Bates, though they didn't dominate the way Amherst did. Having seen the teams only that once, I have no other insight to offer. Just a prediction: Trinity 77, Amherst 71.

And of course, go BOBCATS!

It'll be an uphill battle against alcoholic's (er, ballaholic's) array of nuances -- not to mention all his towels, tape, sneakers, socks, wristbands, baby powder, rec-specs, G-shock heart-rate monitor, Wigwam 7-footer socks, Bike compression shorts (aka package crunchers) and so on.

"Nobody calls three seconds in a pickup game."  "ballaholic does."  "This is how pickup games or won."

Check out ballaholic in his latest commercial.  "We got next.  Neeeeeeeeext!"

Well, I have to tell you all, I'm a bit nervous about this weekend. If the Jeffs have been called untested, this game should give them all the ammo they need to silence their critics. The Bants are 11-0 at home this season, beating opponents by an average margin of 20.9 ppg (83.4-62.5). They've had five different players lead them in scoring this season and seven different guys lead them on the boards. All in all, they're a very talented, very balanced team which is extremely tough at home. If Amherst can get through this weekend with the W, it should be a huge lift for them going into the postseason.

That being said, Amherst is no joke on the road. Obviously undefeated, they've won road trips by an average of 19.7 ppg (74.4-54.7), and the defense prowess away from LeFrak is more than impressive. Nine different leading scorers, eight different leading rebounders, who is Trinity supposed to stop?

Not having R. Martin will definitely hurt Trinity, but won't kill them. I like the line Walzy, I think Amherst leads by a small margin late and pulls to double-digits at the FT line.

Other thoughts on the weekend, I don't see Bowdoin or Colby going on the road and stealing one as Bates and Tufts are both pretty solid at home. My pick of the weekend is that CC will take AT LEAST one this weekend. The Camels are 6-3 at home on the year, while Midd is just 5-5 on the road (0-2 NESCAC) and Williams is 5-6 on the road (1-2 NESCAC). Also add in that CC is still barely alive for a tournament bid and you could have a formula for a victory.

Amherst has the top seed, if Tufts sweeps they're the 2, a Trinity win makes them the two, otherwise they're the 3, Williams needs lots of help to finish any higher than 4, but shouldn't finish any lower, Bates looks like the 5, Midd the 6, and Colby the 7, with Bowdoin, Wes and CC duking it out for the 8. CC needs Bowdoin and Wes to go winless on the weekend and take down both games to get in... Anything can happen...

Get off my boy Spengler guys. He may wind up with a hand smelling like s*#t, but that's the price one pays for the smiting of ones enemies...

Geronimo, no one calls you Dr. Hoops...

PREDICTIONS:

Amherst 78
Trinity 67

Bowdoin goes 0-2 this weekend, and then bounces back with a win over St. Joe's Maine.

whoarewebobcats,

if you took trinity straight up without the points you would get between 3 and 4 to 1. certainly an enticing bet.

ajsnc13

Amherst beats Trinity by atleast 10

Williams and Middlebury sweep

Wes and Conn go winless

Colby, Bowdoin, Bates, and Tufts all go 1-1

amherstfan44

Kevin Hopkins is SICK NASTY!   ;D

BooBallsCasRay

so are the FIREDOGS whoop whoop!!!!!!!!doublehanded,double-direction high fivers!!!!!! woo-hooo

I feel bad for trinity who seems to think they have a shot against amherst....kind of reminds me of Hurricane Peter McNeely taking a run at Iron Mike. That lasted about as long as Tufts' lead in last year's NCAA's.

formerbant10

I'd feel worse if they went into the game not thinking they had a shot.  That's why they play the games.
