Not sure if this was posted in the preseason, but here is an update on All Crazy Team first pick.

This was incredible Capt. It makes me wish John "Murda Mook" Ancrum were in the NESCAC too so they could battle... Oh wait, "The Green Light" stopped wasting his time on unproductive battles due to the Finding Forrester-like guidence of Mr. Martin. I'm sure that Walzy didn't see this before his epic rankings, but had he BC would have been named 1st-Team Player/Coach. Blake "The Green Light" Curry for All-Crazy All-America.

Hoopjunkie, when are you going to realize that A) this is all in good fun and isn't meant to insult anyone (especially those of jewish-american culture/what the f is a mensch?) and B) we all (especially Walzy) respect this group of DIII athletes enough to be here writing about them and their performances everyday. Do you think guys go home and cry about this stuff? It's not nearly as insulting as when ESPN replays a botched dunk or dropped pass 800 times a day on Sportscenter. Most DIII athletes I've known would rather be talked about at all, be it All-American or All-Crazy, then to have their names left off. I'm willing to bet there are guys in the conference that are more insulted for being left off this list than for being put on it. God knows that if we did a All-D3Hoops Posting Up All-Crazy Team, and I was left off the 1st-Team, I'd be crushed...

Thanks Pat for moderating the caps lock... It's a tough job, but someone has to do it. Rumor has it we'll have full webcast of the NESCAC Semis and Finals.

Does anyone else find it entertaining that the Williams fans are starting to talk about next year already...?

they are almost as entertaining as the posts put here by some amherst fans (dr. and geronimo especially). for all the williams bashing that goes on here, especially when the ephs were sans-rose and had some really bad losses, excuse us for being excited about their recent success and very bright future. i have always been a fan of paulsen, who is also bashed on this site, in terms of x's and o's and teaching the game. i have often questioned his recruiting and ability to "predict" talent...this year he has made me and others eat our words as he has recruited two legitimate ROY canidates.

Great call NESCAC Hoops... they definitely cancelled the Hebrew class I tried to take sophomore year...

Props to the Ephs for battling back this year, I'm anxious to see some of these "stud" frosh for the purple cows on the webcast this weekend so I can give an educated opinion. It wouldn't surpise me if they can ball a bit as a lot of recruiting was done by the assistant who left for Stevens Tech.

Also looking forward to watching the Amherst vs. Colby game. It'll be put up or shut up time for Cohen and Farrell fans as they'll have a second shot to prove that their worthy of the praise they've been given. Both were decent at best in their first matchup with the Jeffs. A true POY would come with a huge line on Saturday in the face of the odds they'll be given by Walzy. Can't wait for the lines for this weekend...

Friar would be correct...

According to Amherst's website, http://www.d3cast.com will be streaming video of the two semifinal games on Saturday and the championship game on Sunday.

Amherst's radio station will have audio for Amherst-Colby, and both Trinity and Williams' radio stations will have audio for Williams-Trinity.

Loving the chatter fellas...thanks for entertaining...hope to make to the semis weekend one of these years!

Paulsen is a great coach.....this year's class is an improvement..... In terms of talent,I think it is on par with most NESCAC schools. It appears Amherst is the exception to typical NESCAC schools. At least in the last few years.

Does anybody else feel that their "Posts: " number is a race with Pat Coleman's "Karma: " number?

Lines are in progress. There was a draft that set the linesmakers back a couple days.

So fpc, are you saying that Williams' frosh class is just "on par" with other NESCAC schools?  Seems like this group is far and away the best in the league, to help carry the Ephs to seminfinals with no senior starters and no first team all leaguers this year, in all likelihood.    Bates/Colby/Amherst each can claim the best senior group, Amherst clearly had the best junior class, Midd likely the best group of sophomores (Amherst a close second), but Williams seems to have the best class this year, the first time the Ephs can make that claim since 2004.  Amherst has only three frosh on the roster, hard to say how good they will be eventually outside of Wheeler who figures to be a stellar wing.  But I can't imagine they will prove to be a stronger group than the six kids the Ephs brought in, at least three of whom already look very promising, and the other three all have size (at least 6'5), plus other guys on JV.   Many of the other NESCAC schools have pretty thin frosh classes.  Bates brought in some talent, but overall, not a lot of frosh making a big impact around the league outisde of Choice, Edwards (who is really a sophomore in his first year of eligibility I believe) and the Williams guys.

I think Eph fans are all hoping for the best this year.  I agree that given how things started the year is already a huge success and the team as it is playing now would never lose to the likes of Framingham State, Wesleyan and RPI.  But we also know that we'll have to beat two NCAA teams, on the road, to extend the season beyond this weekend -- very possible, but a pretty big longshot.   I think the idea is, enjoy the ride as long as it lasts, and look forward to seeing what this young starting five (not to mention a bench that goes a legit 5 deep even discounting any new frosh, and even deeper if a few young guys continue to develop) can do after they all have a full year playing together.

Speaking of the future, are Martin, Hasiuk and Taylor all returning next year for the Bants?  If so, Trinity could be the first ever NESCAC team with a starting line-up with an average age over 23.  We're almost in former WIAC terriority here ...

formerbant10

RT3 is definite for coming back.  I believe Hasiuk is as well.  But I don't believe P. Martin will be back.

Regardless of next year, they are doing pretty well this year and are eager to keep playing as long as they can this year.

Can't wait to see 'em in person this weekend.

NESCAC 1: Early returns indicate that Williams has an outstanding class. Based on numbers they have the best class. I am hedging my bets for the future... I have seen too many classes not pan out.

I assume he was talking about Russ Martin.

Hey Walzy, any more info about next year's incoming class? Judging by the recruiting maxim that you are supposed to replace your junior class, this incoming group will be crucial to the future of the Jeffs. Looking two years down the line, after the graduation of the '08s, all we will have is B-Bau, S. Wheeler, possibly DJ Carcieri, who i have been impressed with in limited time, and whatever we bring in for next year. (assuming Hixon wont play any of the '12s as frosh). I'm not real excited about the potential of Wong, Bradley, Lundeen etc, although they could certainly still prove me wrong.

Williams Recruiting Update:

I heard that Troy Whittington, a 6'5" post player from Friends Academy in NYC, will be attending Williams.  Friends plays in the private school league in NYC -- the least compettive league in NYC.   I spoke to a friend who has seen him play.  Apparently he dominates the private school league -- although the competition is weak.  He said the kid is athletic and should be a good player at the D-3 level.
