Walzy, I'm taking the following:

Williams will not win

Drew and Farrell will combine for 30-44

Cohen on the blocked shots

Westbrooks the elder will not pick up any intentional/flagrant/technical/spiritual foul

Over on the Amherst/Colby TO's

Under on the Trin/Williams TO's

Olson most assists

Williams most turnovers

Chris Rose for high score

No fan ejected

Kino on the steals

Under Jeff/Mules 3's

Over Bants/Ephs 3's

Russ Martin for the 4-1-3

Olson for the West Coast

Yes for Chris

Over for Coach Paulsen's water

Trinity over Williams by 7.  Very, very good game to watch.  Rose and Shalvoy need to have big games to keep it close.  Bants just too deep for the Ephs.

Amherst by 11 over Colby.  Farrell ignites a good comeback for the Mules, but just a little too late.  Jeffs hit their FT's down the stretch.

Trinity by 2 over Amherst.  Clearly will be a great game...might be time for the title to land in Hartford.

Quote from: Pat Coleman on February 20, 2007, 04:48:40 PMSaturday's D3Cast games will be called by Pat Coleman and ... haven't heard yet. D3Cast will let me know at some point, I'm sure. :)
"At some point" means before tipoff, right, Pat?  ;)

Sorry for the delay -- we're honored to have Pat doing play-by-play for both games today. It'll be JumboCast's Jason Tarricone alongside for the Bates-Amherst game, and JumboCast's Steve Poon on the later-afternoon-cap. (I wrote 'nightcap', but 4 p.m. doesn't really qualify, does it?)

Been some great games in this tournament the last few years -- hope that trend continues today. Enjoy the webcasts, and feel free to let the NESCAC know if you do...

The joys of listening to college radio over the internet for those who couldn't make it to LeFrak.  Don't know who these guys are but the color guy sounds like he has a face for radio.

Reminds me of listening to a Trinity-Amherst football game a couple of years back at Trinity on Trinity radio.

Color guy: And after Ladd crashes into the line, tough spot for Amherst by the refs.  It'll be third and a long three for the Jeffs.

Play-by-play man: It's a real long three, [retarded Trin guy], it's actually third and nine.
#3 for 3...good!

according to its website, d3cast is having technical difficulties -- does anybody have a score?

Amherst was up 57-32 early in the second half after I shut it off -- no reason to lose sleep over this one while at work.  I'll just read the recap later.

Ephs up 6 at the half.  Webcast is flowing well.

Lotta 3's being put up.

Wow! I just watched the feed on D3cast and I can't believe Trinity missed 2 chances to win it as time was running out.

Amherst will win the title easily tomorrow.

Ephs win by two.  Incredible game.  Schultz was MVP for Williams, some huge shots, steals, defense, everything, man he gets better and better each week it seems like.  The other frosh, Geoghegan, was very strong with good moves inside and solid defense on Russ Martin.  Shalvoy was his usual self, handling the ball with poise, hitting open guys in transition, and hitting some very tough shots.  Snyder played a very strong game as well.  Ephs could not miss for the first three quarters of the game, just playing beautiful flowing offense, points off the break, and hitting all of their open jumpers.  In the last quarter of the game, the Eph starters clearly ran out of steam, and Trinity played much, much tighter on d, but a few timely shots enabled the Ephs to hang on.

Hopefully more Eph students will make the trip tomorrow as the fan section was very quiet for Williams.

As for Trinity, it was basically Kino Clarke having an insane game, hitting 3's from very deep.  The rest of the offense was penetrate and hope the Ephs fouled, or at least that the refs called fouls (refs called a VERY tight game, which really hurt the Ephs in the second half, but they were still able to hang on).  Trinity dominated the Ephs on the boards but that is the Ephs' biggest weakness at this point.  Just need the young big guys to become stronger and more physical.  Long rebounds hurt as well, but looking at how much the Ephs look to run, they are going to lose some of those inevitably.

Amazing that the Ephs are one game from the dance.  Of course, it is hard to imagine a tougher situation -- at Amherst, against a well rested Jeffs squad who has had the Ephs' number, and the Eph  starters have got to be exhausted after today's insanely intense game.  They are really gonna need a few bench guys to step up, and will probably need Rose to be a little hotter from outside.

NESCAC foes can't be happy to see three more years of Schultz and Geoghegan ahead ... Geoghegan is as advanced on offense as a frosh as any Eph big man in quite some time, and Schultz has been, along with Shalovy, the MVP of the team since being inserted as a starter.    Good luck tomorrow.

And thanks to d3cast!

Paulsen is a great coach.....this year's class is an improvement..... In terms of talent,I think it is on par with most NESCAC schools.

fcp,
shultz - 22 pts going 8-10 from the floor; Geoghegan - 11 pts. and 5 boards and some really good defense on martin. you don't have to believe me, but ask kino clarke and co. if these frosh are on par with most other frosh in the league. i'm not trying to be obnoxious, but give these guys some love. it's well deserved.

clarke has to be a a 1st teamer. i haven't seen a performance like that in a looooooong time. that being said, shalvoy was quite impressive. he is not your traditional pt. guard but he really carried his team today. he has to be an all-conference selection. with all due respect to zak ray, i think shlavoy has been the 2nd best point guard THIS year.

walzy31

Kino Clarke dropped 33.
Blake Schultz was MVP of the game and today's performance would earn my vote for rookie of the year.
Had to have been 100 threes shot by the four teams that played today. Very odd.

Blatant snub from all nescac all crazy team is nick farrell. His average three pt attempt (he took 14) was from 10 feet beyond the arc. some were at the midpoint between the three point line and half court.

Amherst Vs. Williams III in the NESCAC finals (just like the good ole days)
Tomorrow's game will be very competitive and the score will not be as lopsided as Amherst's first two wins.

The frosh class is good....and they have improved alot since the first part of the season.....that's about all the love you will get from this amherst fan.

Why give them any love at all? In DIII one ought to be playing solely for the inner self.

Back from LeFrak, just a great all-around Williams-Trinity game.  I have to say I was a little confused with both teams' performances.  First of all, solid win for the Ephs.  But what's the deal with the zone trap they used for much of the first half and some of the second?  I was impressed with the change of pace, but the Bants scored seemingly at will on it.  I can't imagine we'll see it tomorrow.  And with Trinity, I'm not sure what they were trying to do on offense (beyond giving Clarke the ball as much as possible).  There were some great individual performances in this one (Schultz, Shalvoy, Clarke, to state the obvious), but I wasn't impressed with either team's overall offensive flow.

The underrated star for Trinity was Hasiuk, who made some big-time baskets down the stretch and kept the Bants in it while Kino was on the bench midway through the second.  Very little production out of Chris Rose, which makes me nervous as an Amherst fan for tomorrow's game.

As for Amherst-Colby, give credit to the Amherst bigs for taking Cohen out of much of the game, and credit also to Tim McLaughlin and Mike Salerno for keeping a hand in Farrell's face at all times.  Neither ever hit a real rhythm.
