Just got back home from Salem. What a weekend. Totalled my car in the snow on the way down so I only got to see the last ten minutes of the Wooster game. Man, I hope you are all right about Hixon staying put. I dont really know what to say that hasnt already been said, except that even getting into a head on collision with a stopped car sitting in the middle of the highway was not enought to ruin what an amazing weekend this was. Go Jeffs!!!

I had heard about this story and actually would like to hear more about it.

There's actually not a lot to tell, other than that. I was coming down in the left lane, I went around a curve in the highway, and there is this car sitting in my lane not moving. There's a truck to my right, so I cant get over, I slam on the breaks, but I hit the car going about 40. I had my seat belt on, so I walked away from it. Then another car hit my car, then another car hit that car. Then the police showed up and put out flares and stuff. I stood freezing cold on the side of the highway for about 30 minutes, then the cops took me to a truck stop. I chatted with some crazy New Jersey folks about the DI tournament for awhile while I waited for some friends who had been coming down behind me to pick me up. I got to Salem at the end of the Wooster game, and then took a Grayhound bus home to Atlanta yesterday.

So, is there anywhere we can watch video of last weekend's games?

Pat, Walzy is the only person that I've evert talked to that listens to your radio show...sorry for the heresay but this not being a court of law, I think I'll let it stand. (especially since he has to be your only listener...or at least the only one who leaves his mom's basement to associate with other people)

TEN YEARS AT USA TODAY?!?!?  If I need help with color pictures and/or pie charts I'll let you know.  But since I don't I will continue to post ridiculous things that get under your skin and actually make you feel the need to respond to them.

Which one of the following doesn't belong:

Patrick Ewing
Jim Kelly
Dan Marino
Ted Williams
Kevin Hopkins
Karl Malone
Ernie Banks
Barry Sanders
Charles Barkley

Not my radio show either. Hoopsville is Dave McHugh's radio show, and I'm on it probably twice a month since it runs while I'm at work.

Seriously, if you get a clue then we'll talk. But if you're going to just make stuff up you think I might've said, you won't actually be posting here much longer. I don't have a lot of patience for people who put words in my mouth.

If you want to attack me, stick to things I've actually said and done. There's certainly enough of that to work with.

Talked to Pat after the game yesterday, he seemed pretty unhappy that we won.

Dunno why you would think that, except ...

He said that we would be insufferable all summer.

Yes, that I did. And so far your fellow fans have done little to disprove that suggestion. But didn't I also tell you that I thought we needed MORE Amherst fans on the board?

Sorry, talked to several Amherst fans over the course of the weekend and it's hard to remember which was which conversation.

Of course we are insufferable, can you blame us?  I would be a liar if I said that I didn't feel like you and your website were slightly anti-amherst.  I can't lie because my name is the truth.  Maybe we should all just be friends?  But what fun would that be?  How about this, just don't take us seriously(we definitely don't take you seriously).  We r a bunch of college kids who get bored while doing homework, surely not a threat to a self made man such as yourself.  I'm sure you've had to ignore posters before.  That would probably be the advisable route, your responses only add fuel to the fire.

We all know that this site is far more anti-MWC than anything else.
(Pat, please not the sarcasm with which this was typed.)

But seriously, I don't think there's a single team of conference that I haven't heard complaining about bias on the site (well with the exception of teams and conferences that don't know about the site).  I think that's a testament to the effort they put in to keeping coverage un-biased.

It takes a while to prove yourself, but I think the NESCAC is really starting to win some supporters nationally at this point.

Pat, this sounds familiar.  If you ban Vigo, would you also mind banning nescac hoops for putting words into my mouth all year?  Or is it only a problem when you falsely attribute statements to the site administrator?

Pat, Pat, Pat...little did I know that I was being told false information by everyone's favorite prognosticator this side of Punxsutawney.

Since my ride down to Salem expanded my musical horizons to that of the South and the musical favorites of the truth and the savage...I would like to express myself to Pat through the musical stylings of Brenda Lee:

I'm sorry, so sorry
That I was such a fool
I didn't know
Love could be so cruel
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Uh-oh
Oh, yes

You tell me mistakes
Are part of being young
But that don't right
The wrong that's been done

(I'm sorry) I'm sorry
(So sorry) So sorry
Please accept my apology
But love is blind
And I was to blind to see
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Uh-oh
Oh, yes

You tell me mistakes
Are part of being young
But that don't right
The wrong that's been done
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Uh-oh
Oh, yes

I'm sorry, so sorry
Please accept my apology
But love was blind
And I was too blind to see

And also in the words of the woman working the front desk at the Hampton Inn mildly terrified of the eight yankees that looked displeased when she claimed our reservation was cancelled:  "DON'T PANIC, DON'T PANIC"

After the celebrations on Saturday had wound down, I spent 3 hours watching ESPN, just enjoying the score of the game flashing on the bottom line all night.  It was great to see the guys get a little love on SportsCenter.

I'll take a D3 win over anything else.  Where else does every single fan get to celebrate on-court with the team?  Major props to the guys on the team who shared in their celebration with all the students, parents, and alums.  They made sure everyone in attendence got their chance to hold the walnut and bronze.  I was sitting on the sidelines watching the guys pose for pictures with the trophy when O'Shea came over to me and made sure I had my chance to kiss it.  NATIONAL CHAMPS!

First of all, congratulations to Amherst. Your guys played 100% on and acted like they wanted it all weekend. Hoopsville did a great interview of 6th guy Kevin Hopkins in the Salem Special on Thursday. Kevin noted during that interview that the team, having been here for the third time in four years without a win, wanted it badly. It was obvious in the next two days that the maturity of having been to that level and the desire to go further was clearly there. Can't think of someone who deserved to win more. I also particularly enjoyed watching Andrew Olson play... what a stud and a great leader!

Secondly, there should be a rule against posting when you are drunk or stoned or whatever was going on there on the last couple of pages. ::) :P :D ;) Seriously though, you may be a student, but you go to one of the best colleges in the country and became an adult at age 18. Try conducting yourselves like it in public so you don't give us old timers headaches.  :D :-*

Thirdly, lets talk about this lack of respect thing. Amherst was rated #3 in the nation preseason. The lowest they ever were was 6th... after they lost their conference tournament to Williams, who freeking lost 12 games this season (including a 13 pt loss to Occidental, who was only 19th in that poll). And despite having played almost no one themselves. They got #1 votes in every single poll, even after losing their conference tournament. Not everyone on D3hoops.com picked Amherst to win the whole thing, but ATN writer and Hoopsville reporter Mark Simon did. Everywhere on this site you'll have people saying that the NESCAC is a power conference and that they are the jewel (albeit the only jewel) of the Northeast. Where is the lack of respect there? Cry me a river. ::)

There are multiple people who work on this site because a diversity of opinion and information makes things accurate. This is the United States of America and people are allowed to have an opinion even if they don't think your team are full of college aged dieties. Deal with it.

Fourthly, who doesn't want a banner at least partially because a conference rival has one? Every time I've gone to Salem for the last 4 years I've looked up at the other CCIW teams that have banners (IWU and North Park) and jokingly curse them to whoever I'm with (due to the fact that they have one and we don't). It's obviously not the main motivation, and Pat never said that as far as I know... but it has to have occured to anyone who really thinks of Williams as their rivals at least once.

And in closing, a guy wearing warmup pants and a shirt and tie may be the strangest thing I've ever seen a coach wear at a basketball game... and I've seen the Wittenburg coach's attire many times, so that's saying something. Woo Coach Hixon! :D

The Wooster game is up in its entirety under "Men's Basketball - Archived Games."  The championship game isn't up yet.

Congrads to Amherst . Being a Tufts fan , it is not always easy to say that .
I signed up & watched the game on CSTV pretty cool .
Either the Amherst defense  totally made Virginian Wesleyan look bad ,or
they were`nt that tough.
Horrendous foul shooting . What happened to Adair ? Anyway way to
represent NESCAC .

I love the energy on this board during the runup to the championship, and in its celebration. Is anyone else pissed off that The New York Times devoted more space to the coverage of a cricket match than to the D3 championship in the Sunday sports section? Six full pages of D1 and one paragraph for D3? What was the coverage like in The Boston Globe and other northeastern papers? How about some letters to the editor from diehard D3 fans? Is basketball really all about office betting pools?
