while this topic is about to reach the level of this years amherst team versus amherst teams of years past, i felt like i wanted to still comment.
I think the best and most valid point was by weezy.  the point of this magazine and any type of all jewish, hispanic etc. teams is a sense of pride and community in a culture that is a minority to a larger group.  I'm not saying there shouldnt be an all white team for the nescac but lets be serious, how fun/interesting would that be?  I know from my jewish friends that they know every professional athlete there is, whether it be sean green, or kevin youkilis there is a pride issue to see a jewish athlete suceed at a professional level.  And thats the real reason for these sorts of things.  i know for jewish people sandy koufax was more than a legend.  and white irish kids, larry bird was up there too.  to have an all jewish team is not something that is publicized, which is why it is not on the schools websites, or posted on d3hoops.com, it is for people who are interested and those communities.
i'm sure all of us on this website would love to see an all d3 nba team.  its just a sensitive topic because it is about a religion.  but if you really examine and break down what is being talked about, it is just a small community recognizing the athletes that succeed in a group where they are the minority.  nothing more.

and if theres an all crazy team, why not all jewish??? ;D

I would love to see a all D3 NBA team . Do you think there have been
alot of D3 players in the NBA ? Rodman , Oakley ?
I know there is someone who use to be on the Lakers from D3
Devin George perhaps ?

Rodman and Devean George would both definitely make the team.  Gregg Popovich (Pomona) is a shoo-in to be head coach.

Charles Oakley went to Virginia Union, the same alma mater as Ben Wallace.  Unfortunately that's a D2 school (I'm a native Virginian... I know these things).  So right now our all-D3 all-time roster just has Rodman and George.  This is pretty sorry looking so far... let's brainstorm.

edit: Just wikipedia'd Rodman... apparently S.E. Oklahoma State is D2 as well.  Okay... so our all-time D3 team is George, Zeija, Bedford, Rhoten and Olson?

how about Greg Grant (Trenton State College), Lamont Strothers (Christopher Newport) and Andy Panko (Lebanon Valley), all 3 of whom made "The Show" though I believe Panko's stint literally lasted a Moonlight Graham-esque 10 seconds of play or so.

Well there's some debate as to whether Jack Sikma was every actually an official d3 player, but he did go to Illinois Wesleyan in the 70's.

Greg Grant was a pretty good player.

Don't forget Horace Jenkins of William Patterson, who was with the Pistons for a while during their Championship run.

Is Sam Presti the general manager of our d3 all-nba squad or do we have anybody else?

Is Crotty the ballboy or has he moved on from the Celtics already?

There's no debate.

Along the same lines, Terry Porter went to Stevens Point, but it was NAIA at the time.  If you go by a school's current D-3 status though, Porter is a lock for the first team.

What exactly does Crotty do?  Direct player development, or something like that?  Given the Celtics' complete and total ineptitude with developing players, I hope he doesn't still have a job...

formerbant10

Do you really think Mike Crotty is responsible for the Celt's ineptitude???

I get the feeling that the problem may lie higher in the food chain

eclinchy,
all jokes aside, crotty and his father are actually good friends with coach sheldon and crotty often plays pick up with the tufts team in the summer and fall. he is so detrimental to player development that he brings jake w. out for kosher hot dogs after workouts.
