You're so smart.

Not in my deliberation for No. 1 but in the mix on others' ballots and still close to the top spot on mine.

I should've counted on complaints from Amherst fans about me voting them higher than I thought. At least we got the Lawrence fans satisfied, finally.
i am satisfied with the jeffs and the 2 slot...i think wash u. should be #1...i think the numbers give them a slight edge...i think a lot of the amherst faithful point to past dismissals about the jeffs being #1...i know i was one of them last year...i think some people thought you minimized what they accomplished early last season and i guess some haven't forgotten it...i will say your responses this year have been balanced... maybe a bit antiseptic. not a bad thing given the history with jeff supporters. hopefully if we get to the final four we can chat and have some seltzer together (i like lime flavored seltzer). you do a great job and the last 4 years have been great...keep up the good work....boy i sound like one of my students when they are a point short on a midterm exam.

I have been re-evaluating how I manage the boards and trying to take a different tack whenever possible.

Also, personal life and day job are a lot less stressful this year. :)

I never complained about the rankings, so don't put words in my mouth.
Jeffrookie's rant was obviously out of line and a little crazy (Walzy is their a spot for announcers on the all-crazy team?), but his logic was sound.  You and Mr. Ypsi ganged up on him a little bit, which is why I said anything at all.

You're not so subtle call outs are a little juvenile, certainly not befitting a man of your age and stature.  What would Mrs. Coleman think?  From now on, please address me as Mr. Verdad and then post any comments and/or insults.  Mumbling them under your breath makes you sound like one of fpc's students after he scolds them for chewing gum in class.

Pat Coleman

Sorry -- not following, really. Mumbling under my breath? I've said everything out in the open for all to read.

Nor did I say you personally complained about the rankings. So I'm really not sure what you're arguing about, sorry.

Ah ah Patty, don't you mean Mr. Verdad:

I'm curious, did you actually consider Amherst for the #1 spot?  If not, who was in the running?

Pat Coleman

Verdad is a feminine noun (as you properly note with the feminine article), so if you want a title I would have to use Srta. or Sra. :)

You've already beaten this to death and it's not worth my further attempts here. I voted Wash U, Amherst, Rochester. Y'all can continue to flog the horse from there.

I find it hilarious that on the D3hoops main page, the user poll has Amherst running in fourth, and yet Pat still gets heat from you Jeffs fans for putting them second.  If anything, he's overrating them.

La Verdad

Your knowledge of the Spanish language is impressive, so I'm sure you know that it is very common for a man's name to be a feminine verb.  Call Oscar de la Hoya senora and see what happens.

You still haven't answered my question though.  I'll try from another angle.  Did you view Wash U as a runaway #1, or were other teams considered for that honored position? If so, which ones?

ps.  I'm actually quite pleased with how the polls turned out.  All the teams seem to be very worthy of their positions.  I'm just curious how the decision making process happens.

For a grown man and supposedly a professional, you are very easy to goad into these arguments, which provides endless amusement on this board, and I'm sure others. Don't ever change Pat.

I will take Verdad's word for it.  The only spanish I know comes from a guy with a tattoo on his forearm that just says "Martha."

While we can point out Pat's failings and backtrackings, quite easily, perhaps it's not worth our time at this point.  Personally, I have to push the tables in the back together for when the Rocky Horror crew comes in.

In my readings Pat often claims his stance as a legitimate journalist.  I assume at this point that ESPN and USA Today have paid him off to create something more worthless than Division 1 week to week polls.  I'm at the diner during most Amherst games, so let's get some information up about the play of a team that seems to be seperating itself from the pack during a very important part of the season.

Right now, the only reason Pat Coleman is important to me is that he has to come in and pay for his Monte Cristo.  It's getting cold.  Walzy, what are the odds on whether or not he will eat it anyway?

Actually, in Spanish, verbs are not masculine or feminine, and verdad (truth) is a noun, not a verb.

Interesting story, though not true. I can reactivate the poll and show you on the page if you like. Of course, these are popularity contests anyway.

Who wins the men's national title?
Amherst: 33.8%
Virginia Wesleyan: 28.1%
Washington U.: 17.1%
Wooster: 19.6%
