New top 25 today, and Amherst got only 24 of the 25 first-place votes????  The horror! :D

Amherst has had some close calls. Elms, MIT, Colby, Lasell, Bates, Trinity, Babson, Lasell. Some were closer than others and of course Bates was closest of all. I failed to see where Amherst was that much better than some of the teams who have played Amherst to wire.(not counting Brandeis of course) For those of you who haven't seen them Trinity is REAL good. They're very strong! very athletic! and quick! too. They have decent height.
Their frosh guards are really quick/fast. Ford should be a good one. I have to think they had issues V Bowdoin. Anyone who saw Trinity play Amherst knows that if Amherst is #1 then Trinity is a LOT higher than the so called experts say. If they could shoot like Amherst then you could hand them the title right now. However, as we all know you can't have everything.
I'd like to make a suggestion to the Amherst athletic department. If Amherst wins both games v Colby then you should have the men semi finals on Thursday and Friday. Then bring the gals in for Saturday and Sunday. The last thing I need is being cramped or having to stand. Let's show some consideration.

You should probably make that suggestion to the league. It's really their dealio.

I'm pretty sure that the Saturday-Sunday schedule for the semi-finals and finals is set by NESCAC rules. It's happened in the past on a number of occasions (for Middlebury with men and women's hockey and for Bowdoin with women's b-ball and men's hockey). I doubt that the Amherst athletic department has any real discretion . .

Congrats to Olson on 700 assists (see front page of this site for story).

Article on point guard Williams is bringing in next year:

Hopefully he will have the same sort of impact as some of the other NESCAC guys from the S.F. bay area (Casnocha, Baskauskas, B. Schultz, K. Bennett -- who I imagine will take off next year based on all the hype).

Walzy,

Thank you for the great laughs. When I saw that I had been honored I felt kind of like the guy on the end of the bench that wins the Coaches Award...can't even pretend it included an ounce of talent. That said, some wave a towel better than others!
Go Camels!

Hahaha

First of all let me start off by saying this site is very smart, and the people on this site for the most part know what they are talking about. But of course there are many posters that have flawwed statements and really have no clue what they are talking about and how about this guy walzy setting lines to games, can somebody say "degenerate". Hey buddy why dont you find something to do with your time other than setting lines to D3 games, it's called a life buddy. As for the other posters their time will come, but for now walzy will be my biggest target of criticism.

What is wrong with setting arbitrary lines to games, its basically just guessing how many points a team will win by. If Amherst is going to blow out a team like southern vermont, then why not play a guessing game to see who is closer saying win by 20 or win by 40. That is why lines were created for gambling in the first place, to make a way for blowouts to still be betable/watchable and therefore more fun and entertaining.

Prop bets are even better. Over under on Jordan Sparks national anthem was 1 minute 48 seconds, she actually took 1 minute 49 seconds, so the over won. How many people care about the national anthem and pay that close attention otherwise. Okay I understand it is our national anthem and many patriotic folk care about it, but I mean in a different way.

Entertainment value only, obviously. So I think Walzy can consider you not entertained.

And as always, kids, there's always an exception to the rule...

Hahaha, I actually volunteer myself to be your next target.  As others on this board have often pointed out, I often have no clue what I'm talking about -- except, of course, on issues of grammar and punctuation.  I know a lot about those topics and would be more than delighted to help you out.  I've often found that a disjointed, ill-informed diatribe can be much more effective if it is written well.

We all know what happens when one ASSumes, but lets assume that the favorites win out in the tournament, and it ends up being Amherst-Trinity in the finals, with Amherst pulling it out. Is it safe to say that Trinity will make the NCAA's with an appearance in the finals? How about Middlebury? (who was ranked 4th regionally at least last week. )

Here's an eduated guess as to the playoff picture for NESCAC.  Because every other conference in the northeast is short on pool C candidates (outside of Umass dartmouth if they choke in the conf. tourney and Brandeis), no one really comes to mind, I'd say NESCAC has to get at least one, possibly two teams in as pool C's.  Alas, Bowdoin, Midd and Trinity all really hurt their causes with losses last weekend, and all are really close so I bet the tourney results will be determinative.  I'd say any of those three, if they make the conference tourney, will be in.  If they lose in first round, likely out.  If they go 1-1, very much on the fence.  Conn, Bates and Williams MIGHT have an outside shot if the they make the NESCAC finals, but realistically, all probably have to win the tourney to make the dance.    My prediction: Ephs squeeze out an upset win over Midd before bowing to Amherst in the semis, Bowdoin and Trinity both pull out first round wins and Bowdoin makes the conference final earning its first trip to the NCAA's in years, with Trinity sitting nervously on the fence.

Pat (or anyone who knows) has there been another set of regional rankings released after the first one? Thanks.

nescac1: You're favoring the Ephs over Midd this weekend?  Love to hear your reasoning.
