You know what everyone, however  I think Bowdoin has a shot at an upset !!Olsen will have his hands full with Hippert. If Hippert gets hot lookout . Sarge is really a  great defender & I think Fliegel can play agains the totally overrated bigs for the LJ`s . I have never been a fan of Hopkins or Walters . I think without Olsen the POY those 2 guys are average . No question Amherst has alot of weapons & they are a great team , however the Polar Bear are playing well . I would love to see a Middlebury vs Bowdin final
bc has a shot...but they need to be better than they were the last outing b/c amherst is....the bigs at amherst are not overated in anyway. collectively they are the best the nescac has to offer. arguably, they may have the best frontline in the country...wash u, brandeis and rochester fans may disagree but those are matchups i would love to see. anyone disagree?

Hoopjunkie, I'd wait to gloat until after the tourney, recall what Amherst did last year after losing in NESCACs ... Bowdoin plays great as a team and are very well balanced and tough on D, but I don't think many coaches in NESCAC would take Fliegle, Sargeantson, and the other two Bowdoin bigs over Walter, Hopkins, Jones, and Goldsmith.  Walters had an off game against Bowdoin but look at his production across the board in big games this year and it has been immense on both offense and D ...

Eclinchy that is a hard question.  Amherst will be very tough to predict next year as Bennett got a ton of hype but got no PT as a frosh so who knows what sort of player he will be as a sophomore.  Holsey is a very solid role player but that is all.  Baskauskas / Wheeler / Meehan are a huge back-court and can shoot the lights out, but Amherst's inside game will be a huge question mark next year (could be great, but who knows.).  Midd brings back a proven starting five, Locke and Coghlan should really develop as sophmores once they bulk up and with a year of experience, the rest of the guys are tested veterans, and throw in Dudley, Wholey, and Kelleher off the bench and Midd will be a legit eight deep.  Amherst will have to play some frosh up front next year but of course Hixon always brings in a ton of talent.   I'd say those will probably be the teams to beat considering all that Bowdoin and especially Trinity lose to graduation.  Those two, plus Colby and Williams, could also be in the mix depending on how some young guys develop ...

Nescac1 - not gloating just saying after the whole year of listening to all the pro Amherst experts , there are alot of very good players in the NESCAC that don`t play for Amherst .
I have always said Amherst is a very good team , but that Hopkins 3-9 for 7 total points & 4 rebounds & Walters 1-7 2 total points & 2 rebounds in 38 minutes in a Semi - Final game are totally  OVERRATED .

I fear you may be underestimating young Mr. Chibs.  Despite the fact that he is one of the fatter people I've ever met (he eats half his body weight in Cheetos every day) he's going to have an all-nescac type year next year; top 5 in rebounds, blocks and showstopping dunks.  Might as well give him the dpoy now and get it out of the way.

The question is with Walters lack of production why did`nt Hixon go to his bench which is very deep to bring in someone else?

Good to see the NCAA rewarding excellence.

Curry seems to be on a bit of a roll. And they did manage to stay within 32 points of Trinity...

Hixon was just on the d3hoops radio show and said something along the lines of 'we might be starting two freshman next year'. makes me excited about who we have coming in.

I like how the bracket looks for the Jeffs. Should be able to get through to the round of 8 w/o too much trouble, and then have to win 1 game at home (probably) against a tough squad- bowdoin or brandeis or maybe UMass Dartmouth. Hope to get another shot against one of those 2 teams that beat us earlier.

amherst has a cupcake walk to the final 4.

just give us the trophy now

no, i am not concerned about the bowdoin loss. [See: NCAA Championship, 2007]
