I guess I'll have to try out and prove myself on the court. That's the way it should be. I'll tell you this if I'm open almost anywhere, and no one is too close, I'm money! Hope team has skilled pick setters.
I set the picks as long as you pass the ball every 3 touches or so. you gotta keep the big dogs happy.

no reason weitzen should get it.  he clearly hasn't been a standout player this year, and even though seniors are usually rewarded tufts was so bad especially in the conference that he wont get the benefit of the doubt.  its not possible to have pierce off the team and tufts wasn't good enough for 2 all conference players.

clinchy, i agree with your teams except maybe minus baskauskas and plus a rudin.  i dont know if amherst should get 3 guys since their stats dont stand out and they weren't too dominant in the league and obviously in the playoffs.  it is nearly impossible to pick the exact team, but i think you have it pretty spot on

formerbant10

I'd be surprised if Trinity only gets 1.  Martin, Taylor and Hasiuk have all played great this season.  Different guys stepping up at different times of the year.  Tough to think where Trinity would be without any of those 3.

Side note, RT3 became the Bantam leader in games played in a career recently.  He and Martin both over 1,000 for their career.

too dominant like 9-0 where the next best conference record was 6-3?

hoopjunkie

former bant , I think you mean they have played over a hundred games not a thousand . Who votes for 1st & 2 nd teams in the NESCAC?

NY Hoopster

eclinchy;

I agree with most of your list, except can't see leaving Smith of Middlebury off. In-conference, he was the #6 scorer, #3 rebounder, and #2 in field goal percentage, and was obviously a prime reason Middlebury made it to the final 4. I think you need to make room for him by dropping one of your guard selections, who didn't finish up in the top 10 in any of the stat categories. I don't think you should get points for being an early season favorite. I would also switch Walters to first team and Pierce to second team, because I think you have to have some emphasis on defense and the all-around game to be in the top 5.

hoopjunkie

nescac hoops fan . Weitzen was only tied for the 6th top scorer in the league also amongs leaders in rebounds & assists . So I disagree with you that he did`nt deserve it , because Tufts had a poor team. See Stockwell & Ray for Bates last year .

Good post.  I love Weitzen (I'm his second-biggest fan, behind hoopjunkie), but I agree that Pierce makes it and you can't have a second guy make it from a last-place team.  Weitzen has great stats, but so do a lot of guys playing for teams at the bottom of the standings.  Not all of them can make it.  Pierce gets the nod since his numbers are just ridiculous.

I think three Amherst guys is likely -- as Walzy just said, 9-0 when the rest of the league has 3+ losses is really dominant.  If Bausko doesn't make it though, that opens the door for one of the Midd guys.  Rudin is really good, but Smith is probably a slightly better candidate.  The numbers are there for him, and also the reason Midd has gotten so much better over the past couple years is their improvement in their post game (Smith and Walsh).  I think Smith is a good second-team pick if there's room.

Actually I meant that Taylor is the all time leader in games played and they have both scored over 1,000 points.  Not in one game, that'd be a record or something.

We could start Walzy, Nescac Hoops, Eclinchy, NYHoopster and Old Guy, with BooBalls off the bench and make the finals of the ECACs.

Sign me up.

Somebody please explain why Shalvoy has any business on the all nescac team...please?  I'd put Rudin in before him without hesitation.

I think Fletcher should be a lock for 1st team...top 10 in points, rebounds, steals and blocks (so is Choice btw).  It would be a shame if Choice is left off completely, he and Fletch have really similar games/numbers (Fletcher can shoot the 3, Choice can't).

Do the decision makers for the all nescac team focus on conference games or do they look at a player's entire season equally?  I think looking at just nescac games is probably the way to go.

La Verdad should get my starting spot. I am more of a role player / one man press.

Coaches vote on a ballot that contains all the nominees from every team. They are not allowed to vote for their own players. If a player had a ridiculous (good or bad) game against one opponent, it could sway how that coach votes, but the nine "decision makers" are NESCAC saavy and most likely would allow a lot of the topics that are discussed on this board to weigh into their vote making.

FPC-yes I will pass once in a while. My dream is to make a seven point play. Would I get two shots for a deliberate foul if I made the shot? I could then theoretically shoot two technicals. Is that right? I'm ready.

I always found myself pretty much in agreement with the All NESCAC teams. There were some years where the POY choice absolutely flipped me out. 2001 and 2005. Clark over Tabb et. al. That was beyond absurd.

FormerPolarBear

Congrats to Bowdoin on a great run in thr tourney...Mark Phillips (#50) was awesome for Bowdoin.  He stepped up and played well.  Impressive win versus Amherst and a descent effort v. Trinity.

First Team
Olson
Baskukas
Stone
Shalvoy
Pierce

Second Team
Choice
Hippert
Harris
Fliegel
Taylor

Roy=- Ellis
COy- Tim Gilbride
DPOY- Sargentson by a single vote over Westbrooks

formerbant10

You really think Bowdoin gets 2 plus coach and DPOY and Trin gets 1 on the 2nd team???  No Martin?

No knocking your boys, but a 19 point loss is rarely considered a "decent" effort.

FormerPolarBear

Martin or Hasiuk might knock out one of the Bowdoin guys. I do think Hip deserves to make it, but missing games may allow hasiuk to jump on over him.  Martin may bump Fliegel b/c they are almost equal in talent and Trinity did win it all.  Your points are well taken, but Im hoping atleast one Bowdoin guy gets on.
