Anyone who lets their motivation be affected by a post on a message board has no business being on a basketball court in March.

Obviously nothing we say here will influence how Amherst does this weekend.  They're too good for that.

Wow, either you guys are wuss drivers or grossly misinformed.  There is not a spot in Mass (including Provincetown) which is 6 hours from Plattsburgh.

Amherst and Brandeis may be the favorites (that's what it says on my pickems, but I had Guilford and Whitewater in my Final Four, so what the hell do I know?!), but by the d3 criteria Plattsburgh is legitimately the host, so deal with it.

Plattsburgh is a nice little town (I've only been in it once, but often gone near it on my way from Michigan to Maine); if you can get over yourselves, you'll have a good time there.

Despite my pickems (which are dead anyway), I'm now rooting for Plattsburgh, just to spite the NESCAC and UAA posters who are being so rudely arrogant.
yeah just throw all logic out the window...i thought you were big on that? i think the jeffs are used to being the team people want to see lose...it won't affect them or the fans who support em.

Where did "throw[ing] all logic out the window" come from?  I said I was changing my rooting, not my prediction.  Do they teach remedial reading at Amherst? :P

By the way, Google maps says Amherst to Plattsburgh, 218 miles.  at 70mph plus the ferry and the two lane roads to the ferry it's about 3 & 1/2 hours tops.

With traffic on a Friday afternoon, it may take longer than that to get from Brandeis to Amherst.

Brandeis to Plattsburgh 248 miles, all superhighway once you get on 128, except for the trip to & from the ferry.

Bring your skis if you'd like, we had 30 inches of new powder last weekend, so Whiteface (45 minutes from Plattsburgh) will be just awesome.

P.S.  Lake Placid has great hotels if Plattsburgh is full, and no farther time wise than the crappy Holiday Inn we were forced to stay in at Chicopee.

It takes an influx of Upstate New Yorkers and an intellectually-challenged midwesterner to make Senator Frost sound cogent. Who knew?

Again, I'll ask Pat to mandate posters crack the four-figure mark on the SATs prior to posting in the NESCAC room (and no ACT equivolency). I think this would help in curtailing the OCD-like compulsion to re-post massive blocks of text that have already been entered into record.

Sending Plattsburgh, Dick Stockton and Brandeis to Amherst is the only logical decision. The fact that this is not the case just shows the NCAA has a sense of humor.

When denigrating others' SAT scores, in the future you might want to make sure you know how to spell equivalency.

Is there any logical contradiction to predicting team A will win, yet rooting for team B?

No one forces someone to stay in Chicopee. That would be cruel and unusal punishment.
However, those Chicopee folk do play a mean game of pitch.

As a life-long hater of the Yankmees, this seems perfectly logical to me.

yipsi,
makes perfect sense...just didn't anticipate that coming from you...history has shown you to be fairly grounded in the facts...so our arrogance caused you to support plattsburgh? nonetheless, there will be 4 very good teams up yonder. i hope we get some great basketball this weekend.

how far from plattsburgh to montreal?
what type of identification do you need to cross the border these days?

Seems fairly straightforward to me - he thinks Amherst is the better team and will win, yet is put off by some of the Amherst/NESCAC boosters, so he is pulling for Plattsburgh.  Same thing 90% of the country felt for the Super Bowl.

I haven't been able to get any sleep since I read that you were rooting for Plattsburgh!!!

OMG what is Amherst going to do without your support?!  And just think how Wash U must feel...

This just in: Nobody cares who you're rooting for and it seems kind of arrogant to think otherwise.  If you want to argue logic, go back to college.

This probably works in both directions, I'd think.

If hotels are full, I always say go to campus, hit up a party, and hope a nice girl lets you come home with her for the night. Hey its free, and probably a heck of lot more fun.

about 65 miles to downtown Montreal.  You need a passport or a driver's license and birth certificate to cross the border.  If you're a cigar guy, you can get cuban's in Montreal, just cant bring them back.

Montreal is the closest thing on this continent to paris.  Just way more snow.
