I know you guys from Amherst are bringing the "Whine" when you come to the Empire State. I was wondering if you could stop off some where in Vermont and pick up some cheese????

Brandeis - Plattsburgh game sold out in 3 Hours per College Center. Tickets still available for game # 1. AKA - Richard Stocketon vs. Amherst.

Does anyone know how many tickets are alloted to the visiting teams?

I'd assume not more than 200 or so, but thats just a guess.  I know Brandeis is sending a fan bus that should be completely packed, and you think each player would get 2-4 tickets for family.  So when you put those together 150-200 seems about right.

I'm very excited to see what the Plattsburgh gym is like.  Brandeis has a big building, and though the atmosphere last weekend was incredible, it still didnt feel too cramped even with 2000 people there.  From everything I've seen and read about Plattsburgh, it seems like people are going to literally be wall to wall pushing fire code violations to get into that building friday night, even though it'll be 600 less people than Brandeis had this weekend.

I wouldn't get to excited about Memorial Hall!! It's nothing to crow about. The atmosphere will be great and it will be wall to wall people.

The kid that dresses up as a referee and runs sprints and stretches with the zebra's is a joy!!!!! I am already getting excited about the game! Memorial has signs at the front of their gym that states that it seats 1400. From what I was told that is when they put chairs on the gym floor for Winter graduation. Actual seating is closer to 1,000.

The field house seats 5,000 plus but has a rubber floor. The atmosphere definitely would not be the same in there. We will do the best we can to make the house rock.

A solution to that is to invite the fire marshal to the "hospitality suite" - been done before.

It was nice to hear that I am cogent, if only compared to the heathen. I suppose I have gotten less cogent because I don't edit for the most part and sometimes I am merely interested in venting and being cogent is not important at all.
Monkey, I think you've gotten a little nastier over the years. I mean how many times do I have to read about your stated/implied brillance? Yes, you're bright. I don't think anyone questions that.  Why is it necessary to denigrate others? The people who you feel superior to are not bad people. They mean no harm, they're just fans. They hurt and feel just like you do. Can't you be more forgiving of their ways? There was a little more humanity in you when you were Lloyd Christmas. I used to like that guy a lot.
On a different note, I should state that my favorite poster (or whatever you call it) is NESCAC1. Always tries to be objective, even when Ephs are involved. Is very informative and puts up very nice links. He's always cogent too.

Amherst -8.5 Vs. Richard Stockton at Plattsburgh
Brandeis -13 @ Plattsburgh

walzy,
Your spreads are a little out of whack. Correct lines are:

Amherst -11 vs Richard Stockton

Plattsburgh -3.5 vs Brandeis

Anyone still looking for accomadations should check out the Comfort Inn. They can get a great room and not have to leave the building for meals and entertainment. Perkins can provide you the food and may I suggest Legends upstairs for a night cap.

Go Cards!!

I called yesterday, and given the uncertainty of this tournament so far, did not want to commit to a room with a cancellation policy of 4 pm when the games will not be over till 10. However the women on the phone said "she did not foresee the hotels filling up, and I could just come in after the game and get a room.

I heard that Joe Reilly from Bates is a main candidate for the Wesleyan fulltime job...does anyone know anything more about that, or has anyone heard that?  I know his family has strong ties to CT coaching...that could be interesting...

Perhaps it's just me, but in cases in which there is serious parity between at least two, and probably 3 schools in the regional, is it not rather stupid to award hosting rights to the school whose gym clearly seats the fewest people? It's all well and nice that Plattsburgh is selling out their gym, but I'd dare say there isn't a school in the nation which wouldnt sell out a 1,000 or 1,200 seat facility in this situation. Even Wash.U., sans its students (who are on spring break and who typically make up 70 or so percent of a given crowd at the Field House), will likely get over 1,000 to its regional. To me, if all things are equal, the biggest gym should host, even if it seats only a few hundred more fans. I think both Amherst and Deis have a legit case to be frustrated with this draw considering Plattsburgh's relative strength of schedule (or lack thereof).

I used the exact same argument three years ago.  The East sectional had four ranked teams, three from Upstate New York.  Potsdam's Gym seats 3,000, U of R 2,000, LeFrak (1,700 listed, realistically 1,200 - 1,300) & Fisher 1,000.  NCAA didn't do it then either, and Amherst was on break (& will be again this year).  When Amherst lost the first night, the crowd was sparse to say the least the next evening.

P.S.  Plattsburgh's non-conference schedule is the equal of any of the other teams in the Sectional.  They went undefeated in their conference.  In Plattsburgh's area there aren't a lot of stronger conferences they could join, even if they wanted to.  From a travel perspective, Plattsburgh would love to schedule more non-conference New England teams, but they're not considered In Region.
I think some already pointed out that one of the cellar dwellers in the SUNYAC knocked off Keene State, who beat UMD.

If Amherst hadn't been beaten in their conference tournament, and if Brandeis had won the UAA, they would have had stronger cases to host.  Plattsburgh did both, won their conference with an undefeated record, and won the tournament.  The coaches and AD's on the regional & national committee know what getting the job done means.

No way U of R fits 2,000, but it's a little bit bigger than 'herst.  And Fisher has to squeeze to get 1,000.  So small that they had to empty the gym between Sweet 16 games last year.

How big is Amherst gym? I have heard everything from 1,700 to 600. Anyone out there have the "real" capacity?

Plattsburgh use to schedule more Vermont teams but it became the joke of the SUNYAC. One former Cortland coach (John Konowitz) use to ask Coach Cowan how he made out in the "Vermont Invatational" Needless to say the competition was weak!! One year Cowan even schedule UVM for the "Mayor Cup" game. Vermont had Benton and Cieplicki. The Cards had Butler. Needless to say the Catamounts waltz through this one. Coach Tom Brennan even came out in a smoking jacket and had a sofa chair court side. That Brennan is a funny guy!! Happy St. Patrick's Day!

For those of you guys that go back a little ways Cowan had a tourney were he invited the Lord Jeffs to Plattsbugh in the 90's. It was all set up for a Plattsburgh - Amherst show down. The Cards could not keep their end of the deal losing to York in overtime in the semi-finals. Amherst played some one fairly good in the first semi's but for the life of me I can not remember who. Amherst beat York to win the Championship. Anyone out there remember any of this. I know it is going a ways back!!!!!
