I saw David Waller at Amherst today for pre-frosh weekend, so I assume that it's definite that he's coming.

That is correct.

Amherst has a ridiculous group of big guys coming in, arguably substantially more talented than the group they are losing even ... Waller (6'7), Holmes (6'8 and the fifth best player in Rhode Island, sheesh), Zaitz (6'5) and I heard the fourth guy is Tim Prowitt (6'7 out of D.C., his brother played for Stanford).  All four it sounds like had low-Div I potential.  That is going to be a scary group to contend with up front for the next few years.

Jon Pike, in the link Walzy posted, sounds like a great signing for Trinity, they lose all three of their main scoring options so he will likely get a chance to put up big numbers immediately.

After a fairly uninspiring group of frosh last year, sounds like NESCAC (and Amherst in particular) is really cleaning up in recruiting ... should be quite a battle for ROY with the likes of Pike, whichever big guy gets the most time at Amherst, M. Wells at Williams, and O'Connell at Bowdoin ... plus Bates and Midd are each bringing in some quality big guys as well.

Reilly officially takes over at Wes.  Not sure who all the finalists were, but there was a former Harvard coach in the mix as well.  Congrats to Coach Reilly.

Congrats to Reilly.  Prediction: within four years Wesleyan is a regular contender for NESCAC title.  Reilly turned Bates around, and Wesleyan is a much bigger school, with a stronger recruiting base (Maine does not have a wealth of basketball talent) that is already very familiar with, and a solid hoops tradition, something absent at Bates prior to his arrival.

Wonder who Bates will get to replace him, any word on that?  Good situation to move into ... a great group of rising sophomores and juniors and a few good recruits on board for next year.

From what I heard the job is Steve Brennan's from Babson if he wants it.  Its definitely a step up from Babson because of how much talent Bates has and how much talent the NESCAC could get.  Bates would make sense for Brennan since it is his alma matta.

Nescac1, Dman:

I heard that Williams is getting a point guard from Lawrenceville - the prep school in NJ that Bedford from Amherst attended.

Any truth to the rumor?  If so, what have you heard about him?

How does he compare to PG coming in from San Fran?

nescac1

Don't know anything about him or even who he is, sorry.

I believe there is a guard coming from Lawrenceville, but I don't know any more than that.

Any info on how the NE Senior All-Star game went this past sunday?

The Lawrenceville player is Rob Delaney, I am pretty sure.  Went 4 years to Delbarton (alma mater of Amherst's McLaughlin and Goldsmith) and PG'ed a year in the hopes of D-1.  Offensive-minded PG who grew about 8 inches from sophomore to senior year.  Pretty good size for a PG.
