at the very least I know he is a finalist. who knows how accurate the sources saying he has the job are but, as always, i'm sure time will tell.

The Paulson move is a done deal and is being announced this afternoon.

I should have added "according to Jeff Goodman's basketball blog on Fox Sports";

Wow, thats amazing. But congrats to him. As I stated in an earlier post, he is a great coach

Pat Coleman

Williams confirms. We will publish based on that.

Bucknell has issued a release as well confirming the hiring of Paulsen.

Williams' loss is Bucknell's gain.

Dave made tremendous contribution to Williams as a coach and educator.  He wil be missed in Williamstown.

On behalf of the Williams community I want to thank Dave for his coaching and teaching tenure at Williams and wish him, Kathy and his three daughters all the best at Bucknell.

Amen, ephoops.  It will be hard to top Paulsen's accomplishments: three league titles, two national title games, one national title in eight years, despite having to contend with the Amherst juggernaut.

I hope Williams moves quickly to fill the job -- Paulsen leaves a ton of young talent behind; given that and the Williams tradition, there will be no shortage of amazing candidates I'm sure.

ephoops

Williams will conduct a national search.

Below is the link to the story on the Williams web site.  I assume Dick Quinn wrote it...nice piece on Dave.

Any thoughts on possible candidates??

It's probably one of the top jobs in D-III.

Pat Coleman

There will be a long, long list of candidates.

Pat :

I agree that there will be a long, long list of candidates for the job.

I'm curious as to who people think may be on the "short list" of candidates.

The national search raises some interesting and fun speculation:

Current D-III coaches?
D-1 assistants?
Former D-I coaches?  (There were rumors that former Big East coach was in the mix several years ago when Paulsen was hired.)

Both Sheehy and Paulsen are Williams alums.  Is there another Williams alum out there who is both interested and qualified?

Pat Duquette - Williams Alum - Boston College Assistant.
He's the guy - I'm calling it right now.
;D

Why should he be interested? He's currently coaching with a winner  in the ACC.

To throw some names or idea's out there: Bill Fenlon head coach at DePauw, Greg Mason head coach from Centre, Tobin Anderson head coach at Hamilton and former assistant for Paulsen, Izzy Metz head coach at Hobart and former assistant at Cornell, Rob Kornacker head coach at St. John Fisher College, Todd Montana head coach at Green Mountain and former assistant at LeMoyne, Mike Beitzel former head coach at Hanover, and any number of possible assistant coaches.

"He's currently coaching with a winner  in the ACC."

Huh??  Did you see BC play this year?  They were 14-17 and finished 11th in the ACC.  Their future does not look very bright either.  This in fact may be the perfect time to get out for Duquette.

I'm surprised no one's thrown Luke Flockerzi's name in the mix for the Williams job.  Former Grinnell player; former assistant at Amherst, Rochester, Sewanee; current head coach at Skidmore and already resuscitating a program that stopped breathing years ago.  From what I hear, Flockerzi would be an awesome fit, and if they interview him -- again, from what I hear -- he would impress.  Call it a sleeper pick among the worthy candidates whose names have already been thrown around.

And another thing, why no other women posting up?  I'm sick and tired of being part of the gender minority on this here board (yawn, bored).
