Hey Pat... how come not a single bit on two girls in the Scranton v Kings game having scored their 1000 career point... I am not talking about in "posting up" I am talking front page news....
Just look at the numbers from the people that talk on the MAC posting up..
MAC Girls belong on an occassional front page.... Toughest league thus far..
meaning each and every team comes to play.. no shoo ins in The MAC
ADK

With so many 1,000-point scorers we can't put each one on the front page. That's why we created the Milestones page. I'm a few days behind on Milestones but both players will be included and yes, we'll probably run the game story in that space.

It takes 2,000 points or 1,000 rebounds to make the front page, 1,500 points to get a headline in Notables. A coach needs 400 wins or more to make the front page and 200 or 300 goes in Notables.

Why would we penalize the players for a defection?  I'm pretty sure Courtney Cunningham didn't have a vote in what conference her school will be playing in.  Snubbing players for decisions made by president's and god knows who else is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.  However, I have a lot of respect for D3Hoops for keeping politics out and giving CC the recognition she deserves.

By the way, I happen to agree that Drew would be better served by staying in the MAC.

A number of venues might be better served by remaining in the MAC ....

Interesting day in the Mac\Freedom..

Fdu finally beats a conference foe as they beat Kings at Kings..

Wilkes beats Drew--Drew would have had 2nd place to themselves--Cunningham and Kraft each got their points again but......

DelVal handles Lyco--will they give Scranton a tussle on Wed when the 1st half of the season comes to an end?????

Scranton--has difficulty but gets by Desales...

What are the stories on the Commonwealth side?????

Pat Coleman

I apologize -- having just read the story more closely I see that only one 1,000-point scorer scored all those points at a four-year school.

O.K., it appears as though Moravian has lost #2 today.   This next week will be kind of hairy for Drew & Del Val as they each play Scranton & King's.  King's will undoubtedly be a little feisty after their loss today.  Told everyone that Coach Richter was getting his team in shape.   It's quite impressive to hold Scranton to just 55 points.

Kings losing to FDU at home...ouch!!! Up to this point, FDU was my disappointment of the season. However, Drew losing to Wilkes was a bigger upset. Yes, it's nice to see Courtney & Melissa getting all those points...but a little D mixed in would help considerably. Pretty close on the DelVal call as well as the Lady Royals over Desales...and if Desales ever pays their light bill & puts a few more bulbs in so the kids could see in that dungeon, a few more baskets may be made. By the way, LeighAnn Burke of Desales may now be the front-runner for MAC Rookie Of The Year...excellent all-around game.

and that makes a difference??? a thousand points is a 1000 points and it should be noted on the date it occurrs.  Some students head to community college to better prepare them for the 4 year college and Scranton admissions made note of that and accepted the student as a full time student and as an off the bench player in a nationally ranked D3 program  so KUDOS to the player and her coaches....  For seeing the true value.

Nonetheless, our Milestones always have been points, wins, blocks, rebounds, assists, etc., at four-year schools. I couldn't care less about what the admissions people think about two-year schools!

Hoopchick, for heavens sake, i was absolutely not implying that players were responsible for the new "cerebral league".  If you were following the post last year, i was very critical of a player who left the team mid-season.  The team has WAY moved on, & i have NO connection to the team other than being a rabid FAN!  At least Hoboken isn't too far a trip for you Drew guys :).  Many times on this site i've said that i will very much miss Drew.   Good Grief

Mr.Coleman Taryn Mellody scored her 1000th point Jan 5th her name wasn`t mentioned.

adkfan

No Pat I guess you are the end all decided of what gets posted.. I bow to the grand POOPAA   However you missed the point again  This post exists because there are interested fans that promote it, support its sponsors, and truly care about the MAC Divison 3 Basketball played.  If it weren't for the players, and the fans This wouldn't be much of a site.....
Taryn, Elizabeth, Tiffany and I am sure I have missed a few deserve a front page mention... even it was in the small area called D3 news releases...
Pat you have increasingly become a bit curt with those of us that read and write on this site and not all of us are particularly impressed.  Karma, Stars etc aside.
This posting site is about basketball and acedemics... and when the players do well or if they do poorly it is for us the fans to write about.
I am a retired teacher and to make a statement about not caring about decisions made by admission is to think that it has no value.... here the chain
admissions  first then the gym..... remember unless you get into the school you can't play for the school no matter how hot your shot is.

Pat Coleman

uofs, thanks -- I scan over every game story that comes in for milestones and I guess I missed that one.

adkfan, there's a link next to the releases on the front page that is titled "About releases" which details how those releases get on the site. As for being curt, I'm sorry -- I have a full-time job (since something has to pay the bills), a wife and three kids, and then D3hoops.com/D3football.com. I can't always pretty up my comments for people.

I have run this site for nine years. I can't put a 1,000-point scorer on the front page because then I get frustrated parents of other kids complaining about why THEIR 1,000-point scorer didn't get on the front page. I guess I get curt when people question our decisions, then question our responses to the decisions, then question the tone of our responses.

If you guys want to try to make the message board about academics, good luck trying, but it's not what the news coverage is about. That's about basketball -- Division III basketball. In fact, NCAA Division III basketball, not junior college basketball at any level.

and .... no one wants to change your site to acedemics however Pat  that fact still remains that 3+ woman D3 MAC players have made the milestone and you  dropped the ball.  So when you get called on it   the only thing that the fan is looking for is acknowledgement   not to be scolded...
You need to look at the numbers  12995 people view and read the MAC posting up   There are a lot of us....

As far as other parents go  I will go to bat for them too  Its our girls that make this site...

Busy is a state of mind   some of us have busy lives too... no one said that you weren't doing your job   just that you let a few things slip... Critics come with journalism

You don't have to pretty up comments you do however need to re read your posts  for tone.

enough said  I accept your apologies
