Cruel or appropriate??????

The front page of D3Hoops--a picture of Megan Silva--a primary reason why Randolph Macon beat my Lady Royals in the final 4 last season. Then I see that my gals are number 2 in the Country.....right behind the team that beat us in the final 4 consolation game last season....ya gotta see the humor?????

Pat Coleman

Two people made milestones by our count. We have listed them in the Milestones page, which is all we do with 1,000-point scorers.

As for letting things slip? Mellody, yes. Your daughter? No. She was in the very next update after she reached her milestone. I am heartily sorry that that was not enough promptness for you. But that is reality.

There have been more than 80 of them so far this year. If we listed them all on the front page we would be doing nothing but 1,000-point scorers. That's why we stopped listing 1,000-point scorers on the front page more than five years ago.

Pat if that is the case why do you have Myricks from Lincoln on milestones.I`m pretty sure he went to a junior college in California before he transfered.

Pat Coleman

All 1,000 of Myrick's points were scored in a Lincoln uniform. He scored 727 last year and has scored 684 this year.

Pat it still does`t justify nothing. he still didn`t go to a four year college like you where saying.Pat you`re wrong admit it

Pat Coleman

I guess you're not following.

1,000 points scored at a four-year school. That's what he has. That's what we list.

Points, rebounds, wins, etc., at a two-year school (or for coaches, wins at the high school level) don't count.

I don't see how you're unclear on this. Myrick probably did score points at his junior college but those are not counted in the 1,000 for his milestone.

Hey Pat... how come not a single bit on two girls in the Scranton v Kings game having scored their 1000 career point... I am not talking about in "posting up" I am talking front page news....
Just look at the numbers from the people that talk on the MAC posting up..
MAC Girls belong on an occassional front page.... Toughest league thus far..
meaning each and every team comes to play.. no shoo ins in The MAC
ADK

With so many 1,000-point scorers we can't put each one on the front page. That's why we created the Milestones page. I'm a few days behind on Milestones but both players will be included and yes, we'll probably run the game story in that space.
It takes 2,000 points or 1,000 rebounds to make the front page, 1,500 points to get a headline in Notables. A coach needs 400 wins or more to make the front page and 200 or 300 goes in Notables.

This is where I got my info on why the players were not listed..  next update  gee thanks Pat

Pat i think if you score 1000pts no matter if you`re a junior college player transfer into a division 3 school you should still be acknowledged. That`s like saying Mr.Myrick should not be playing with these kids that are 17,18.etc.because he is 25.Discrimanation should not be accepted.

The Milestones page at that point read "Last updated Jan. 13, 2006" and I am sorry I didn't get to it in a more timely manner. That's all I can say. I would feel worse if you were paying for the service, but this is a free site.

And I think if you score 1,000 points at a four-year school you should be acknowledged. That's our policy. I understand you have a rooting interest in us going the other way on it, but here's part of our reasoning: Stats from two-year colleges are hard to come by, and not every transfer comes into a Division III school with an established, reliable statistical résumé. If we can't get reliable information on everyone (and believe me, I was an SID once, I know what it's like dealing with juco transfers), then we shouldn't accept it for anyone, so all juco transfers can be on level footing.

OK, lets settle down a bit here.  Pat has made a clear point, saying to be included in the 1,000 point milestone club, you must do it at a Division III institution(4 year school), and I do not see a problem with this stipulation.  However, if the U of S did not celebrate this milestone I would probably would have a beef with it.  We should be celebrating all these great accomplishments.  Its great to see someone from not just my college alma mater but my high school, also doing great things.

So can anyone comment on how E-Town beat Moravian by 20 last Saturday ?  I think that has to be the biggest upset in the MAC this year. It wasn't a buzzer shot that won the game; 20 points !!! Ouch ! How does that happen ? Injuries on Moravian ? Academic issues ?

Need to hand it to Coach Strong. By playing a 10 player rotation, he demonstrates to star HS recruits that more than just the starting 5 will get ample playing time....As such, the Lady Royals should be able to stay on top for a long while.

Just seems odd the Lady Monarks were so competitive last year. They only lost two starters which were Kristen and Vienna.  They just don't seem to gel like last year. They have loads of talent to be competitive with any team they play! I just hope this isn't a sign for the future :'(

Yeas, Mack two starters graduated  however if you look at the roster last year and this you will see that the team lost more then two,  by injury or by loss of heart for the game.. When you look at the starting line up starting veterans on the floor are at a minimum... No excuses just fact  then onto this you place new coach,  new style.

The recruits that are there were recruited per Whitten's style so they are having to adjust... Seniors that played for Whitten's mind set are having to adjust

The strength of the Scranton team is Strong's tenure... Each year his girl's are not surprised by a new style etc   I give credit to the older coaches that stay put but in the same breath I can't fault younger coaches for wanted to advance  Kings unforunately lost a great coach when Whitten left... now they must struggle for a few years until Coach D proves that he too is a great coach with recruits that he hand selects for his style of basketball.

PS care4kids   an open discussion can be veiwed as an argument or as an clearing of the facts. :)  we now know how players make the milestone column based on Pat's definition.
