Gigantic congratulations to the Widener Pride and their Coach, Alisa DiBonaventura Kintner, for just knocking off Catholic University of America 57/56!   So proud of Alisa!

Agree. Wow! Great job Widener. Sweet 16 bound!

Your welcome Widener. Cabrini tired them out for you.  ;) :D

Good one Mailsy - they'll know you can't underestimate those Philly area teams!  ;).   Also last night was so excited for Widener that i forgot to congratulate Messiah.    Two MAC Commonwealth teams still dancing!

Congratulations to Messiah & Widener for extending their seasons. Also congrats to LVC for a nice win over Baruch. Luck of the draw had them face undefeated Montclair and a bad first half did them in. Montclair sure looks like a final four team or better. It is going to take some effort to derail that buzzsaw.  Again congrats to the MAC teams that made the tournament.   Whomever advances  from the Widener/Messiah rematch is going to have their hands full facing Amherst or Tuffs.  I am hoping Messiah gets the chance.  No matter what happens it was an excellent year for the MAC on both sides of the conference as FDU had a heck of a season also.

Tough loss for FDU. Congratulations to the Lady Devils for having great year.....I wish we didn't have 2 MAC squads squaring off against each other in the 1st round. Seems like Widner may be the of team of destiny this season....My best wishes to them; hope they continue their Run.

Congratulations to Widener's Kate Dellinger being named as a finalist for the Jostens Trophy!   Boy, i certainly wish that Widener wasn't playing Messiah in this weekend's round of the NCAA's, especially way up at Amherst.   Just me, however,  i'm  sure Coach Kintner would go anywhere with the Pride for the honor of still being on court in the second weekend of March!  May the better team win, safe trip and have fun!!!

Yes, Lebanon Valley did get a tough draw, but that's acceptable. Somebody had to go against a very good Baruch and an even better Montclair State. One win and one loss v. the calibre of those two teams is nothing to be ashamed of. Not everyone can draw cupcakes.

Warren,

I agree LBC & WP are no Baruch or Montclair. Luck of the draw I suppose.  Hopefully Messiah can take advantange. To be honest not sure if the Falcons would fair any better than Widener or LVC against Montclair.  I am certain they would like  to give it a shot.  Hopefully Messiah can get by a peaking Widener team and give a good account of themselves against the NESCAC rep. No easy task for either the Pride or Falcons.  Pulling for the MAC rep no matter who wins but would prefer to see Messiah take the rubber match and continue their season.  Have a nice day.

Tufts and Amherst, even though both are in the NESCAC, played each other only one time this season (now that's convenient scheduling if you ask me).  Amherst won, 54-48, on their home floor.  Tufts shot extemely poorly in that game.  So this game promises to be a knock-down, drag-out battle ... and Messiah and Widener will benefit from those two teams if the game plays out that way.  I hope that Tufts returns the favor and wins in a tight contest so that the MC-WU winner plays a team on a neutral court.

I'm not saying that the MC-WU game won't be any less hotly-contested.  These two teams will wear each other out as well.  The Commonwealth team that advances will definitely have their hands full Saturday night, but I think that either could win two up in Massachusetts and get to the championship weekend in Michigan.

Good luck to the Falcons and the Pride, and may the better team win.

QuoteTufts and Amherst, even though both are in the NESCAC, played each other only one time this season (now that's convenient scheduling if you ask me).

The NESCAC is one of the only conferences that only plays a single round-robin.  So Tufts and Amherst only ever play each other once in the regular season.  Amherst plays its traditional rivals (Weselyan and Williams) twice, but only one of those games counts in the conference standings.

Makes for a stronger conference, like UAA, as you have more games to play stronger out of conference, but in-region games.

But the UAA plays a double-round robin... right?

My mistake.  UAA does play home and home.

Bill, did you make the trip to D.C. for the Devil / Widener game ? If so, good crowd ? Hype ? Any opinion on the last calls / fouls ? Legit ?

Six pm tonight, we'll be watching Widener/Messiah!    Still can't believe that two MAC teams are facing off.   Said it before, may the better team tonight win, but you're both GREAT! in our book!
