No, I couldn't go - but I have watched the game film here...and I can tell why some of our coaches were upset. The first charge was close...but I think a no call would have been best.  As for the final charge, that's where the call was blown. Did the Widener defender have her feet set? yes. However, she was set inside the circle/arc line, which means our player could not have been called for a charge! That was the big one.

In addition, I couldn't believe the Widener defender was even trying to step in there. They were up by three. As I watched it live (via stream), I thought "oh my goodness, they're going to give us a 3 point play!" and let us tie the game. I even thought that was the call while watching....only to find a charge was called. That was the really bad call. Still, if the defender had just let her drive uncontested, Widener probably would have won the game as time was about to expire.  They did the one thing that could have helped us tie it up!

Of course, if we had just made ANY shots...but oh well. The ladies will learn from the experience and be ready for next year. The team graduates no one, and with a few more spot-up shooter recruits, we could be very, very dangerous next year!

mac fans should be pulling for tufts -- yea, the jumbos -- in tonight's second game at amherst.  it would be considered a slight upset, i think, and maybe just maybe, tufts could go into saturday's game just a bit overconfident.  if amherst wins, just hope that tufts can wear them down some.

widener-messiah is, of course, the third time these two square off this year.  may the better team win.

Some day the streak will end, but a Carla Berube team has yet to beat a G.P. Gromacki team.

Congratulations to Widener.  The better team got the Win.  Heck of a defensive effort by the Pride shutting down Messiah.  Best of luck against Amherst.  Widener seems to be playing their best ball of the season. Hopefully it continues.

Bill, thanks for the synopsis on the Devil / Widener  game. If there's any consolation for FDU, it's that they were beat by a team which made it to the Sweet 16. Yes, the Charge Call is always a tough one for refs..Given they are a young team, as you mentioned, the Devils will, once again, be a force next year.  However, it still seems, spot up shooters have never been a priority for FDU over the last 4 seasons and it continues to haunt them. Most of the elite teams all have them.

Major congratulations to Del Val Head Coach Laura Rotz Hogan and Bridget Golden star forward/center both selected for the MAC All-Century TEam!   Coach Hogan from the 1988-93 era as a guard and Bridget Golden from the 2004-12 era.   Both players brought so much to the Aggie program.  Again, congratulations!!!

Sorry, but that list is a joke. No Kristen Venne (Josten's Award winner in 1999) or Karyn Kern on the 1994-2003 team? Ridiculous. Of course, as I pointed out before, they didn't even bother to list all of Kristen and Karyn's accomplishments on the ballot.

Hi Grove!   Aggieland could make the same case for Alisa DiBonaventura Kintner, Del Val's lone all-American.   I'm sure, however, Alisa is very content going to the Elite Eight this season with her Widener Pride.   We will always have the memories of our best players, all our players actually, and they're on our all star lists forever!
