Nice first round win tonight...Shallette was incredible. 26&15 boards in only 25 minutes.

Hope freshman Sydney is OK...taken off on stretcher in 2nd!

On to UNE tomorrow ...

WOW, congrats to FDU - you made it to the third round past a tough University of New England!

bill

Yes, another gritty win...score not indictitive of the battle. On to Genesco...hopefully at home, but more likely at tufts. Complaints about seeding about to begin in Madison  ;)

FDU's going to miss the Dayon sisters, without question. But McDonough is developing into a really good point guard. With her and Brown back next year, they'll be very good again.

bill

You can say that again!

Getting Rachel Groom back healthy will help too...we have missed her low post play - something that I think may eventually hurt us...

Campus abuzz with talk of upcoming trip to Boston!

School is springing for free bus trips for faculty and staff...with hotel included. Not bad! Student buses going also. Not sure of any hotel deal there. Obviously, goal is to win Friday and need the hotel room for Saturday  ;D

Always a tough week for us (and many schools) - last day of classes before spring break is Friday, and most spring sports teams are gone on Thursday. Here's hoping we can make a strong showing.

I enjoyed reading Rob Knox's article "Now you've gone and made FDU mad". I'm glad he acknowledged Kyra Dayon's value to the program. True, this is a very good team, however, as Rob said " she's special".

Just my view: It's understandable why FDU is disappointed they're not hosting this weekend. In addition to losing the home court edge, their fans now have to travel and spend the money for an additional road trip. However, I continue to find Coach M's  martyr-like "the world is against us"  mentality as obnoxious and disrespectful to all other coaches, players, and the NCAA committee. That said, I perceive it's just his way to fire up the team. He's been doing it for the last 4 years and the team seems to buy into it....

Other families and fan bases have to travel as well.  They are not the only ones.  I don't like the way he went about this.  And it also makes him sound like he doesn't understand how the system works.  It might not be perfect, but he should have a better understanding of it.

He knows how it works...many coaches use the "us against the world" strategy to rally the troops.

I believe the program frustration at traveling does have a little merit, though. We don't view the host battle as FDU v. Tufts, but rather farther back in the seeding as FDU vs. Montclair. We lost on strength of schedule points vs. Monclair - barely, I guess. The perceived disrespect thing goes to the regional rankings...how FDU dropped too number two was disturbing, especially when you factor in the committee members who do the rankings. Both teams finished with one loss, but FDU beat Stockton (the team that beat Montclair) in a game that wasn't very close....

Sour grapes aside, >:( , coach knows at some point you have to win on the road to be a championship team.

A good win for FDU and the MAC tonight; a team effort...They lead by 28 at the half but faltered a bit in the 2nd half; too many reckless circus-shot driving attempts to the basket.. Their D was solid, hit their 3's, and played with passion. Best of luck to them tomorrow !

bill

Woo hoo! Elite 8again...awesome job ladies!

At least, away from home - FDU didn't have a road victory in last year's tourney run. Good luck tomorrow.

bill

I suppose so- but I was counting the two wins in Wisconsin as road wins ;D
