Scranton, congratulations - winning by 30 (at our house).  As the kids say, "not for nothin", but we were playing without point guard, Shannon O'Neill, apparently sick.  Get better fast Shannon - DeSales is coming to town Tuesday night.  Again, congrats to the Scranton squad ( truly hope that Allison's O.K.)

Saratoga--I was cheating. I waited until the games were over today. Actually I see the final weeks going very similar. I would add that I then foresee Scranton getting a first round bye and then hostin a 2nd rnd game. As for hosting a sectional 2 yrs in a row?????I would love it, but we'll see....

Kate--( truly hope that Allison's O.K.)????????????????

She went down hard in the second half - were you at the game?  Just wondered if either Saratoga or you, Roy, were among the 300 or so people in attendance.  I was really disappointed when i realized that Shannon wasn't anywhere to be found.  We didn't give you guys the "bang for your buck" that i was talking about earlier.

saratoga

Kate: I was in attendance as was UofS...can't say I saw Roy today. Yes, it hurts when a starter is missing...but that's the absolute beauty of the Lady Royals...someone else steps right in & gets the job done. Yet another Freedom Regular Season Championship for Scranton...the quest continues. Congrats to Coach Strong, his staff & all the Lady Royals. By the way, I think about 225 of those 300 fans were from Royalland.

Roy, Saratoga, I agree with the predictions, however, with the expansion of the NCAA tournament this year, there is a slim possibility of Scranton getting a first round bye this year....If I'm not mistaken the D3 womens tournament is expanding to 63 teams this year leaving only room for one team to have a first round bye.....So, the first round bye is going to be tight.  Not saying the Lady Royals aren't going to get it, being number 2 in the country right now and most likely staying there if not moving up in the rankings before the end of the regular season, but I'm just saying not to count on it like we used to in previous years.  I also heard through the grapevine that the NCAA selection committee is going to move away from regional rankings when determining seeds and brackets this year and look towards the national rankings.  This will be great for the DIII national tournament because as many of you know, the #1 and #2 teams in the country have faced off far too many times in the sectional championship instead of at the final four.  Therefore, it would make for a more evenly matched, and therefore, more exciting DIII tourney.  This would therefore give the Lady Royals a number 1 seed in their bracket AND another shot at hosting a sectional despite it being an "off" year in terms of hosting. .....Can't wait for selection sunday and march madness to begin.....GO LADY ROYALS!!

Bballislife,

Thanks for the info, I had forgotten about the expander tourney and you are correct that we may indeed have to play a first round game. That is good news for me as I get to go to another game....Also, it may help the team keep consistent and play a game in the middle of the week aas compared to going an entire week in between games.  With the playoffs around the corner I am reminded about what Bob Z mentioned, that it may be a negative for the Lady Royals not having had great in conference competition to prep for the playoffs....I think he has a good point, however, I think we will be okay in that the competition for Scranton often comes in practice.....It would be an interesting game to see their first team play their second team??? And that is what happens on a daily basis in practice, so hopefully they will be ready for the post-seaason.

BobZ--what is the deal with the Kings-Drew postponement fromn Sat to Thur?

adkfan

Drew's athletic office cancelled because of the pending storm  Right Bob?
I was headed that way but was advised to turn back as game had been cancelled.
Will be headed there Thursday though to see last home game for my senior.

PS my congrats to T. Mellody of UofS for inclusion to ESPN Magazine Academic All Star Team   more to college than points scored eh Pat???????

Ok I know everyone hates back to back posts  however when I just logged on this evening and viewed my post from earlier I have a question
Who puts the addition of those crazy little yellow people after my comment..
Now we are not only star-ed...karma-ed... but we are happy face ed....  a bit juvenile but that is just my opinion.

if I want expression I should be the one to add it..... So Pat do not take the faces as criticism of your site    please

Like most message boards and all instant messaging services, this board takes the characters you type and converts them into emoticons if you type the right combination.

I guess you wanted people to see that you typed seven consecutive question marks? Not sure how much less juvenile that is. :)

After last evenings mild upset of Desales over DelVal. we have the potential for 3 teams to all finish with the same record but have the tie-breaker factor determine the final order. Assuming Scranton defeats Desales in the finale on Sat. & Kings wins their 2 remaining games(Drew & FDU) & DVC wins at Lyco...those 3 schools will all have 9-5 records. Here is where it gets crazy...Desales would have defeated DVC twice but lost to Kings twice. Kings lost to DVC twice but defeated Desales twice and everyone lost to Scranton twice. I guess it then works its way down to the next team & who did what vs. that school. Right now it's hard to say who'll end up in the 5 spot...FDU or Drew so I guess we really won't know the order after Scranton until it all plays out on Sat. Here's to another great finish in the Freedom...good luck to the Lady Royals Sat. & beyond. Kate, what happened at your house last night...the big money was on the Aggies???

NCAA new playoff format--Pat--can you tell me if I underfstand this correctly?

In years past Scranton may have had a first round bye and then host a 2nd round game on a Sat evening. This year it will be different..Only 1 team in the country will receive a first round bye---63 teams in the new format. The 1st and 2nd rnds will be conducted on a Fri-Sat at the home, presumably, of the highest rated team amongst the 4? Is this scenario correct?

Is there a forum that discusses MAC sports not found on D3sports.com?

Shannon better be back for the playoffs - she didn't play against DeSales & DeSales was hot Tuesday night.  It IS my prediction that they will give the Lady Royals the bang for the buck that they really have needed all season tomorrow.    We'll be headed for Williamsport to see the final regular season Aggie game.   GO DEL VAL!

The Freedom Conference playoffs are now set; now it's just a matter of who plays whom.

If Scranton defeats DeSales
and Delaware Valley wins at Lycoming
and King's wins at FDU-Florham
and Drew beats Wilkes,
there is a three-way tie for 2nd-place.

In that scenario, Delaware Valley is the two seed, King's three and DeSales fourth. DeSales becomes the number two seed with a victory over Scranton and in the scenario that Delaware Valley and King's are tied for third-place, Delaware Valley will be the
number three seed and King's fourth
