Well, Pat to you it might not be so "interesting", but to someone who happens to be a rabid Aggie fan, i thought it "held my interest:(" this season.  Until the ECAC bids come out on Monday, i'm in extreme b'ball withdrawal this weekend.  Again, DeSales will undoubtedly give you guys a workout on Saturday.  No one's really cares, i'm sure, but DelVal gave em a run for their money in the first half of Wed. night's game.  Became a bit demoralized in the second half, though, gee, i wonder why?  Sarcasm there - anyone at the game knows why.  Again, you guys will be in for a run for your money Sat. night - but, that's a good thing.  And, Mr. Coleman, the MAC is ALWAYS INTERESTING!!!!!

Kate  what happened to that point guard from D.V

Pat i`m not here to argue with you.I`m just stating facts whenever Scranton loses there up on the board.Pat another thing Taryn Mellody named player of the year in the mac. didn`t see her name up but i did see silva for odac player of the year up.Maybe that got by you to just like everything else Scranton does except when they lose. They`re the number 2 team in the country fo some reason.

Boy, I hate people who don't read.

Those releases on the front page are there because they are posted by SIDs. That's why we have that fancy little link with the releases that says "About these releases" -- so complainers like you know who's responsible for posting them there.

If you want to bitch about it, don't bitch to me. I'm sick of your complaining when you don't know a damn thing you're talking about.

How do press releases get selected and posted?

All Division III basketball schools have a username and password given to the Sports Information office. They may use this to post press releases (and scores and game stories) directly on our site.

I am not sure how that relates to the fact that you are complaining about how the ODAC and Randolph-Macon make use of our press releases feature. Seems like your complaints should be directed elsewhere, no?

Also, saying I put Scranton on the front page every time they lose is like saying Bush invades Iraq every time he's in office. Oh wait, that's been done twice, and Scranton has only lost once.

FACT is (and you seem to ignore facts), Scranton has one loss all season. That' not a statistically reliable sample to say I put them on the front page every time they lose.

You're picking fights with me, you're picking fights with Kate, you're picking fights with fans on other boards. We don't need a troll on this board.

U of S, i'm sure that Shannon will be back as soon as physically possible - i'm not an Aggie insider, as i've mentioned before we live an hour away from the college, but i can't wait to see her back on the court as she plays particularly well with guard, Moira Donahue.

Over the last 4 years I have read and responded to many most interesting discussions here.  I have enjoyed a brief fan-ship with Kate, Roy, U of S, and Saratoga... I have appreciated the bravo for the Monarchs and the kudos for my player Beth Jordan.  I am truly proud of the player and student she is.
I thank you all.
Beth played her final game at the Long center on Wednesday.  Well done Coach Strong and the Lady Royals.  Junior and underclassmen of Kings College there is always next year.
I will in my final post say to you Mr. Coleman (no need to respond)  that in 30 years of teaching and coaching I have never been treated as rudely as you have treated me on many occasions and to the posters at this site. You have whined about this being a free site.. and so we shouldn't complain about the shabby coverage of one of the primo conferences in the country.  You have made statements that have been untrue and when they are quoted back to you you become rude and defensive.  With out these fans you would not have a site and certainly wouldn't have expanded over the last two years.  Until you can respond to fans with respect you will always have a second rate site.  And it will loose credibility so being named by DIII Hoops will have no value.  Its a sad state when the founder of something that was once a goal kills it because he can not respond with dignity rather than venom.  And again referring to anyone as a troll is just juvenile

ADK\Susan---Don't leave...Although I understand that you are frustrated try and stick with it. Your posts, thoughts, comments have been greatly appreciated over the last few years. Just because you are irritated by some issues try and stay above it and remain a poster.

About Beth, it was indeed an honor to watch her play over the last 4 years, actually, sometimes it was irritating.......Because she played well against my team......

I'm sorry you feel that way. I don't think we will lose credibility just because some fans can't take the unbiased word of an outsider. This happens on many boards and we have survived it.

Someone said I only put Scranton on the front when we lose.
I said that was inaccurate and pointed out that Scranton was on the front this season when they did not lose.
They pointed out a time I put Scranton on the front when they lost.
As an educator I'm sure you see the logic.

Someone said we missed a 1,000-point scorer.
I explained why it hadn't been posted yet.
That wasn't good enough for them.

Someone said we should add another 1,000-point scorer.
I explained our criteria for being listed in Milestones.
That satisfied some people but not everyone.

Fact of the matter is, we are not going to be able to satisfy everyone. I am glad your daughter had a great career -- I felt she would after seeing her play at Marymount's tipoff tournament in November 2004. I am sorry we could not please you, but there is no reason to be bitter towards me.

BTW, the term "troll" means something different on the Net than it does elsewhere:

"In Internet terminology, a troll is a person who posts rude or offensive messages on the Internet, such as on online discussion forums, to disrupt discussion or to upset its participants. "Troll" can also mean the message itself or be a verb meaning to post such messages. "Trolling" is also commonly used to describe the activity. For more discussion on definitions, see below."

It is not that I think uofs is sitting under a bridge ready to harrass people who wish to cross. :)

PS care4kids   an open discussion can be veiwed as an argument or as an clearing of the facts. :)  we now know how players make the milestone column based on Pat's definition.
challenged and defended   makes for a great read  thanks fans/writers

Challenged and defended, indeed. You were thanking me for this then. Now seemingly on your way out the door, you attack me on it.

Why can't everyone stay on this site (except if Pat kicks ya off :)) - seriously,  Playball, CJ, and Warren were missed this season.  It's undoubtedly more fun to have a player on a team, but it's also great to support an entire team, and at the end of the season to support the league leader.  There's a ton a great times to be experienced out there people - GO DEL VAL - GO MAC!!!!!

Roy et.al....back to b-ball for a minute. Desales @ Scranton...another fight to the finish??? I really think the Lady Royals can turn up the heat & force some pretty significant turnovers...can vs. "will" is the $64,000 question though. I just have to go with Scranton's experience, depth & talent...not to mention the crowd as factors that should seperate the two teams by midway in the 2nd. half. Last game Desales did a great job of dictating tempo & spreading the floor & it almost worked. The Lady Royals need to spread the floor themselves so Allison can create & Taryn can not be double-teamed as easily. The kicks in to Tiffany will be there as Desales has to defense outside/in. The Lady Royals need help from the 3-4 positions crashing the boards & going to the hoop so Scranton doesn't become a predictable 2 woman show. Lastly, if some of Scranton's subs continue their cold shooting...this game may get considerably closer than it should. The unknown factor...Coach Fred. He has a great ability to prepare his kids for what needs to be done...whether or not that can offset pure talent remains to be seen, but he's done it before & let's face it...Desales MUST win to make it to the dance...I just hope the Lady Royals bring their A game & go right after them & NOT letup & allow Desales to sneak back into it. Bring the hammers...this is no longer a walk in league play...when teams are down now, keep them there. Scranton:71/Desales:56.

Way to go Messiah, you're headed to the dance!

Congrats to all of the players who made all conference.  Individual recognition is nice, but subjective, and every year there are players who you think should make it and don't, and players who do make it and shouldn't.  It will always be that way.  But this year there are a couple of real head shakers which deserve comment.

Take player of the year.  In the Freedom, Scranton dominates, goes 14-0 in league play, Mellody scores 16 per game, is the dominant player on the dominant team, and repeats as POY.  Makes sense?  Absolutely, and congratulations from a rival fan.

In the Commonwealth, Messiah dominates, goes 13-1. Like Mellody, Cook scores 16 per game, but unlike Mellody who is primarily a scorer, Cook also leads her team in rebounds, steals, assists, and block shots.  She leads the league in steals and block shots (when was the last time that happened?), and is second in the league in rebounds with 9 per game.  She is the dominant player on the dominant team in the league and a certain logical choice to repeat as POY?  You would think.  But the Commonwealth coaches vote, and she doesn't repeat as POY.

The coach of the year award is even more bizarre.

In the Freedom,  Coach Stong repeats as coach of the year even though the Freedom coaches have to be getting tired of getting pounded by Scranton.  But it is a classy move by his peers to recognize him as the coach of a team which is dominating the league.
In the Commonwealth, Messiah rips through the league again, and the coach of the year is Mike Miller of Messiah.  Right?  Wrong!!!  The coach of the year in the Commonwealth is Janice Luck of Albright.
Albright????  Yep,  the Albright which was 5 and 9 in league play. Let's point out here that Albright that didn't even make it to the conference playoffs.
A coach could be motivational, inspirational, sing the national anthem, prepare her team, sell tickets, buy pizzas for the opposing team at halftime,  take the refs out to dinner after the game, and clean the gym at midnight, but if that same coach only wins 5 games in the conference,  they shouldn't be coach of the year.  Period.  Even if Albright was young and improved a lot over the course of the season as De Sales did in the Freedom side.  Come on coaches...what are you thinking?  Do the right thing!!!!

So maybe Miller didn't get coach of the year because he gets it every year, and the coaches couldn't bear to give it to him again.  Let's look back a couple of years.

Last year Messiah was 12-2 in the league. Was Miller coach of the year?  Nope.

The year before, Messiah swept the league going 14-0.  Surely he was coach of the year that year.  No way.  He gets snubbed.

Additionally in these years Messiah was not picked to win the conference by these same coaches in the preseason poll so it isn't like Messiah had so much talent that any nitwit could coach them to all these victories.

So Coach Miller goes 39-3 over the last three seasons in the regular season, and is never once recognized as coach of the year by his peers.

Does anyone else think this is very strange, and embarrassing to the conference?

We will never know what happened, and it long run it doesn't matter, but clearly the criteria is much different on the Commonwealth side than the Freedom side, and these results cause one to wonder what the heck is going on when the coaches vote like this.
