No reason the offseason has to be so painful. :)

Is anyone else curious as to who the 8th member of the Freedom Conference will be?  Or, if there will even be an eighth member - anybody hear anything?  Hope to be on the DVC campus next month, & will include a visit to James Work Gym - it goes without saying that i hope all is very well in Doylestown.  In the final four - GO LSU!

  Kate,

here's what I posted on Mar 12;the tenor was don't hold your breath while we wait:
from talking with an MAC coach on the future of the conference:
didn't know if there would be consolidation of the freedom and commonwealth or inclusion of new teams but the decision won't be made by the coaches or the ADs; it will be made by the presidents.

kate

Thanks, Ronk - it should be very interesting.  I've said many times on here that i will very much miss Drew; if Moravian feels that they're beyond the MAC, so be it, but Susquehanna & Juniata will be missed by me as well.  Change isn 't always good.

ronk

Kate,
Yes, I don't see what the MAC schools gain by switching. Hope their new conference buddies enjoy that bus trip to Juniata.
As for the new MAC, consolidation would seem to mean loss of one of the two automatic NCAA spots plus as a Scranton grad, I'd miss losing a second game against Kings and Wilkes, so I'd go with adding a replacement for Drew. It'll be harder for the Commonwealth side, having to replace 3.

Art_Vandelay

why the hard feelings for moravian and no one else?

kate

Well, Art, i've read a whole lot of bragging from the Moravian coach over the years & sorry, but that always rubs me the wrong way.  Moravian is a great college founded in l747, many of my closest buds have graduated from there, &, i'm very jealous of Foy Concert Hall, but that bragging sticks in my head.  Also, just my opinion mind you, but i'm glad that after all those losing seasons that DVC didn't jump ship.  They stayed with the MAC!

Was it a sight to see the celebration after the Gators defeated the Bruins.  People lined the streets, cheering and hanging from the lightposts.  I just hope my alma mater UofS can repeat this seen next year, and take home the crown from Spingfield.  (Sorry about this post in this area however I am a grad student at Florida)

kate

Hey Royal Gator, i'm just as happy that Florida downed UCLA - it's a great young team. and everyone connected with it should be proud & thrilled!  Tonight, i just hope that Maryland can beat Duke (Big time, :))

kate

Just want to commend Matt Levy, Del Val's SID, for an excellent job of keeping the Aggie Sports site very current - it really helps when you're missing the college athletic activities big time  -  Thanks, again, Matt!

kate

Happy Easter/Passover to everyone at the post!  Seven more months - at least summer goes quickly.

kate

Now that a team has left the "Interstate 8" before it gets off the ground, and the possibility of Elizabethtown leaving the Commonwealth for afore mentioned league, what's anyone's guess as to a re-alignment?   Would Drew like to reconsider & stay with the MAC Freedom?  Or, would there be ll teams with Albright, Lebanon Valley, Messiah, & Widener joining the Freedom for one eleven-member league?  Anyone have any thoughts?

kate

WELCOME Arcadia and Manhattanville - looking forward to many great years of athletic competition!

ronk

Kate,
I'm surprised the MAC prexies responded so quickly to your pleas for info;wasn't anticipating any action before summer end, myself. Arcadia Freedom invite was their way of thanking you for your past and continued support with a geographical rival for Del Valley. :)

kate

Ronk, i will truly miss both Drew and Lycoming (never say anything i don't mean) - believe it or not, after following my beloved Aggies since l998-99. we just attended the DelVal away game at the magnificent Lamade complex in Williamsport this past Feb.  - first time in Billy Port.   Can not wait until the 07-08  season, and sincerely hope that the existing Freedom teams give our departing members a great & super courteous send-off!
