I was hoping Keystone or Marywood would be offered a membership into the MAC Freedom.  However, Arcadia and Manhattanville should also fit in nicely.

Does anyone know why Lyco, insted of the new incoming schools, went to the Commonwealth Conference ? Not only does it break a 40 year tradition of rivalries but I'm concerned Lyco may now become a more Pa. inbred school than it already was before.

Can you clarify your remark above? Not certain what you mean ....

I may be off base but here's my point. As it relates to Lyco and recruitment, not having Drew or FDU on it's conference schedule may (I said "may") hinder the school's ability to attract talent from north and central New Jersey as well as parts of NY. This is a highly populated area which they recently seemed to tap to bring in out-of-state talent. By having an ALL-PA. conference, my opinion is that it limits the school's visibility to places outside of Pa. It was also my understanding that the school was very proud of last year's academic freshman enrollment class as it represented more out-of-state students than ever before. That said, you would think the school's athletic program would look for different ways to extend it's athletic talent search beyond Pa. where it already competes with so many other schools.

Perhaps Lyco views this conference move as a way to attract more Pa. personnel which may have otherwise attended one of their Pa. rivals ?? Of course, Lyco can always schedule non-conference out-of-state games to alleviate the perception of a homogeneous athletic schedule, student body, and athletic talent pool.

Hope that clarifies my previous statement and would still like to know why Lyco was selected / volunteered to change conferences.

Major congratulations to all the members of the Class of 2006, graduating this morning from Delaware Valley College, most especially Women's Basketball Team members Jen & Kate McCarthy and Juli McGowan!  Thanks for the memories!

Remember, Lycoming wanted to be on that side of the conference when it was originally formed, but wasn't "allowed".

What 40 year rivalries does it impact? I'm not sure what you are referencing here...

Also, I'm not so sure that being away from FDU will be a bad thing for recruting the northen/central NJ kid. Many of these kids want to leave NJ for school anyway, and Lycoming and the rest of the Commonwealth isn't too far to travel to see games....

Large number of recruits coming from New York state - Cabrini, Elizabethtown, Marywood, Moravian, Muhlenberg, all recipients of players from the Empire State.  Of course last season Fred secured Erica Sovak from there, too.  Looking forward to hearing about who's coming to Del Val, as well as the schedule - Matt, anything on the horizon?

Scranton has their schedule up, and DeSales has a new assistant coach as indicated in this morning's Morning Call newspaper.  Schedules should be popping up like crazy now  -  just thinking about where we'll be come Nov. l8th makes that time go quicker.

Thanks Kate for the the update on the UofS schedule.  It looks like the webmaster on their website accidentlly gave Coach Strong an extra 50 wins (689 wins) instead of his actual 639 wins. :-[

As per the new Landmark League, they are saying that there will be collaboration in research. education, and professional development, and "other areas".  Also, of course, the athletic affiliation.  Someone should be tracking all those ideas, John Stewart, perhaps.  WOW - WHAT HYPE!  God bless you Drew - please take it easy on those trips to D.C.

kate

O.K., O.K., i've seen one too many Comedy Centrals :)  -  Wilkes has their schedule up!

This Landmark Conference is already generating more trouble than it's probably worth ( please read football posts) - i personally hope that that when and if DVC plays one of the defectors that we beat em bad  >:(  All of em except Drew, of course, then let the best man win!

Del Val schedule up - THANKS, Matt!

Hope everyone's happy with their opening tournaments - i'm very good with the Aggies playing right up the road in Muhlenberg's Scotty Wood Tip-off!  Sure hope that everything's A.O.K. in Aggieland.  A wet start for the camp, but it's gettin better - any news from people - WOW, one of Dawn Stahley's assistants coaching at Drew!  Any Del Val news would be appreciated -  again, thanks for the schedule, Matt!

Happy 4th of July to everyone at the post - 4 and a half months!
