In a barn-burner, Scranton survives Hamilton, 58 - 52.

Mellody leads the Royals with 29 pts.

I was on the edge of my seat the last 15 minutes, we are very lucky to get by a very gritty Hamilton team.

Royals take on Mary Washington (VA) on Friday

Fun game at the Long Center this evenening.... 2 teams played sound fundamental basketball that was nice to watch..2 great coaches matched up as well. Senior leadership was the difference tonite. Taryn, Allison and Casey in particular were the difference.

At half we up up by12 and within 2 minutes of the second half starting we were up by  only 2 and it was nip and tuck the rest of the way. The Ladies are probably on the road next Fri but they have left a lasting impression on the home crowd. GREAT JOB LADIES..........

Congrats to the Moravian women's basketball team for winning the 2007 ECAC South championship -- 86-64 vs. King's.  The Greyhounds beat the #1, #2 and #3 seeds to win the tournament.  That's pretty special!

Moravian seniors Kelly Applegate, Jenny Hackleman, Katie Rizman and Kristina Adams end their careers in style.  They should be remembered as a very special class in the history of Lady Hounds basketball.

WAY TO GO HOUNDS!

Hoping that geographically it works out that Scranton is the sectional selection among Maine, upstate New York, and Virginia.

The Royals played team defense very well last helping each other, taking turns pressuring Sathula(who I think will be a serious candidate for POY next year). Little Ryan was a big factor on the defensive board, loose balls, and steals. Allison hit the big foul shots(7 years of doing it at the line at the end of big games).

Should Scranton not be given the Host site for next weekends Sweet Sixteen Sectional...Taryn & Allison will have played 4 years together and not lost even one game at the Long Center...inclusive of all the NCAA Tournament games. That is one pretty special accomplishment. On the other side, I think the Senior class at Bowdoin has only 1 home loss in their careers & that just happened this season.

For geographic reasons, Scranton has been chosen to host the sectional and not Bowdoin.  That should make things a little more interesting for both Bowdoin and Scranton, and if they meet up in the elite 8, it should make for another classic sectional final like the one in 2005.  Not to mention the sectional final will be on parade day in Scranton.  That weekend is going to be crazy!!!

Hey Kate,

Sorry to disappoint, but it was the "Hounds who "tamed" the Monarchs from King's!  From the begining Moravian "hounded" them on defense and in the second half they had absolutely no answer for Applegate!  The only "walking" that was done was when Hackleman and Applegate walked to get the championship plaque!

Congratulations Moravian 2007 ECAC South Champions!

kate

Final Four, they'll get ya next time, no, wait you'll all be in the "Landmark" Conference, but i'm sure the teams will not  have seen the last of each other!  Very sorry to see Messiah go down.  Congrats to the Lady Royals, still representing the MAC (i see ya all get to play at home again :))!  Win out!

I'm feeling pretty good as I am currently in 2nd place out of 377 in the PICK EM contest. I have 15 out of 16 teams left in the Sweet 16. Messiah loosing wass not a shocker to me but I did have them picked nonetheless.

As for Scranton hosting this weekend I am certainly happy but a bit surprised. I had envisioned a 7 hour drive to Bowdoin but I'll take a 12 minute ride instead.....

Both games have the makings to be donnybrooks...Rochester matches up real well with Bowdoin so that game should be very tight. UOS vs Mary Wash...should likewise, be a great game. I see the Lady Royals winning by about 8...

Quiet board with Sweet 16 and Elite 8 at Scranton in a few days.  Anyone have word yet on game times Friday and Saturday.  Last I heard, Lady Royals were tentatively set for 7PM on Friday and 7PM on Saturday for the winners.  Any help would be appreciated.

upton

Never mind, I just answered my own question.  Lady Royals play at 7PM Friday with the other game at 5PM.  The winners will play Saturday at 7PM.  Thanks to myself for answering me so quickly.  Go Lady Royals!!!

Just got back in to town from Harrisburg..Let the games begin..

Anyone within reasonable driving range needs to be at the Long Center Fri night. We have the opportunity for $7 to see 4 of the top teams in the country. I know the other 3 sectionals can state the same but take a look at the matchups...If I were a betting man I would say that no one team could be listed as more than a 2 point favorite in either game.

Rochester-Bowdoin---that is worth $7 on its own..throw in Scranton vs Mary Washington and anyone within 4-5 hours hit the highway and come out and watch 4 premier programs.

Now..does anyone not know who I'm rooting for????????

kate

Yes, Roy, we know :)   Just saw one of the best games ever as Rutgers prevailed over UConn for the Big East Championship, at Hartford no less.  GO Rutgers & GO Scranton Lady Royals (luck of the Irish for St. Patrick's Day on Sat.)

Is class in session or will they all be on spring break? Wondering what type of crowd they will have for the weekend...........?
