By the way, that transfer is in addition to the 5'9" swing player thats  transferred in from Connecticut College & led her team in a number of categories while playing in the tough NESCAC.

I've heard a couple of girls quit the Kings basketball team. Does anyone know if these girls were a major part of the team?

Ooops..

Saratoga, The swing player that you mention, Casey Thran, was an excellent player in high school as well and she is fitting in very nicely with the other players. I beleive that she is going to do extremely well this season.

Good point, hopefully they will be this deep when all is said and done??

About the Kings players? I have  not heard but will inquire?

Any player that leave a squad in the beginning of a season will place undue stress on the team whether she is a starter or not.
I have heard of atleast one player that has decided to leave.  I know that the players and the coaches are saddened by the decision. BOB can fill us in as he is particularly close to the team.

I want to make a personal observation:  When these girls play at D3 all expenses are paid BY them.  There aren't any scholarships nor benefits given.
Many of our young women must decide between basketball and paying their bills.
So with that said we must understand when players leave their squads.  These players put in just as much time and effort as D1 or D2 however they pay to play rather than be paid (scholarships) to play.  Money is one of the biggest stresses in a humans life.  So imagine having to make good grades,  pay your bills and fulfill an entire basketball schedule (practices, scrimmages, tournaments etc etc etc)  for the pure love of the game,,, opps I forgot and fund raise LOL       ADK

Well with the new season rapidly approaching I see that LVC is picked fourth. An interseting place for them, with a lot of new faces, I certainly wish them luck this year but I can't help but feel that their ranking is a little generous.
BTW-Warren T you going to make it to the RM tournament, love to catch up!

ADK/Mack:

One player left the team during pre-season pickup games and probably would not have been a major part of the team. The other was Vienna Spitler, a two-year starter, who had knee surgery in September, one of the numerous injuries in her career, and just decided she did not want to play anymore. She is a really good person will be missed but if her heart was not into it, it is the best for all parties involved.  Also, sophomore guard Ashley Whitehead tore her ACL and may be out for the year.

The Aggie roster is up today and there's ll people.  Can not wait until next Friday, and the opening tourney at LVC.  Del Val has Roanoke, and that will be a challenge, but we'll sure see how the 05-06 team handles it.  Warren, we'll be wearing Aggie Green - GO DEL VAL!!!

I had a chance to see the Lady Royals scrimmage against Bloomsburg last night and I was impressed. As with most scrimmage games the 1st\2nd teams intermingle greatly so it was difficult to get a feel as to how the team really is, but I picked up a few observations. Casey Thran is going to be a fantastic addition, Taryn Mellody is better than last year, and Allison Matt never gets tired.... Overall great D, great O in spots and I can't wait 'till the home opener Dec 3rd against Drew.

ronk

roy_a,
How was the play of the center and power forward, both offensively and on both backboards for the royals? Those positions would be the most difficult to replace from last year.

roy_a

Ronk..This will sound strange but with all the changing of personnell, players coming in and out so quickly at times it was difficult to know who was playing which position???? Molly Klusek looks like she will be the real deal, Casey Thran looks like she can dominate as well. Kelly Lew looks just as tough as always. Michele Fabio and Kathleen Daly also looked good.   I did not get a chance to speak with any of the coaches afterward as I was curious to see only 12 players ??? Perhaps this is typical for practice? Nonetheless, this years squad certainly looks like a true contender..

Almost forgot, yesterday, but welcome back Kristen "Hank" Henry to the Del Val campus as an assistant coach to Coach Hogan!

Allison Matt didn't graduate yet?  This has to be at least 5 seasons...

King's wasn't ranked, but more surprisingly, DeSales was nowhere to be found.  How can the voters show no respect to a conference that put someone in the Final Four last year?!
Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes.

cj4l..I think you may be confusing Allison Matt with someone else? We get to see her for another season after this one. Last season was her first as a starter and she was a sophomore. My prediction..she will end up All American
