Kate:
Not sure if you're planning to make the trip to King's tomorrow to watch your Aggies...the game time has been moved up to 12:00.  Hope to see you there.  Go Aggies!

Good morning TribeHoops!  Yes we sure as heck were planning to head to Wilkes Barre this a.m., but we chickened out (especially thinking about the drive home).  Just e-mailed Coach & told em to have a safe trip, & once again, i'm relegated to live stats, although i'm totally grateful for em.  This winter so far, really makes us appreciate our teams & what they go through to just arrive at games.  Thanks, again for the heads up!

Del Val just lost to King's 75 - 66.  i watched live stats, & i feel they played well - Fiorino had 35 points.  We want to put someone good on her when they come to Aggie Land!  Jackie Shunkwiler had a double double for us & played a very good overall game.  The Aggies would never complain, but they are playing without MAC Rookie of the Year, Brittany Battinieri, so i think they're definitely holding their own in this incredibly competitive league.  Gotta check, at last look Wilkes was ahead of FDU 31 - 19.  WOW!

kate

How about Alvernia pulling the win at DeSales this afternoon?  Also Misericordia beating Manhattanville; Wilkes handling FDU - NO sure thing is this league, that's for sure!

Kate:
We missed you up north today.  However, you made the right decision staying curled up in front of the computer.  The roads were not good.  The Aggies played an uninspired first half and dug themselves a hole.  King's played well and Fiorino was lights out.  She is a great player and a nice kid.  I hope we'll see you at James Work on Monday for what will be a tough game with Wilkes.

As this new year is finally getting underway for us (we missed the first three games with a family function, the weather, & a crazy drive on 287 North  :)), but several thoughts keep bouncing around so here they are.  Remember when FDU, Lycoming, & Wilkes were pretty much sure wins?  NOT this year - is it the MAC competition that's making them better??  Finally, on the other site, i was saying that Scranton would "win out" until their last game with the Lady Hounds which i lamely said would be "wild".  Actually i could have used gully washer, cliff hanger, buzzer beater, or a term that should be used solely for those old Aggie/Royal games - "Barn Burner".  ;)  That said, we're counting the hours til tonight's Aggie game with a totally improved Wilkes squad - they have Ali Horn, a great guard from this area who was out last year with injuries - she's Baack! Go Aggies!!!

kate

Good heavens, i certainly do NOT want to turn into a physic, but tonight Wilkes soundly beat Del Val on the Aggie court.  Congratulations to the Lady Colonels who played outstanding DEFENSE in the second half.  On a personal note, school wasn't in session, & there were no hotdogs - it was an 8:45 dinner tonight - ugh all the way around

old ends

Kate: In looking at the box score for the game, it looks like Del Val was shooing bricks.. 2 - 18 on the 3's while Wilkes was 6-18. Right there is a 12 pt swing.  68% or 15-22 from the foul line, where Wilkes 16-20 or 80%.

It also looks like the Aggies got tired or something in the second half, Fell behind by 18 points after leading by 1 at the half. Did the coach make them run to Central Bucks West at half time??

As far as food status.. take snacks.. it helps to hold you over  ;)

kate

Exactly, Old Ends - they had fallen behind in the first half & had gone ahead by one at half time.  They played an entirely different game in those last 20 minutes, not enough rebounding & the few second chance points they were trying to get didn't go in.  Normally three's fall like rain, but NOT last night.  Desperation doesn't help any of course.  Things do not get easier as they face DeSales tomorrow night.  At least the food situation will be better then, as school starts tomorrow, so they should have those hotdogs fired up  :D!  i scream much louder when fed.  Thanks  for noticing those details, & as always, GO AGGIES!!!

Kate:
Del Val got much needed lights over the break...you want a new concession stand also?  Baby steps Kate.  Seriously though, The Aggies are playing exactly like a young team plays...INCONSISTENTLY.  Kim Vennera is as good as there is in the Freedom, but right now she needs some scoring help.  Without Battinieri Kim needs to shoulder the load.  Brittney Zimmerman is the real deal...just playing out of position due to the injury to Battinieri.  Keep the faith Kate...with a few post playing recruits Del Val's future could be as bright as the gym.

kate

Thanks for the explanation, Tribe Hoops.  The new lights are great, although we didn't realize the difference until you mentioned it - now we remember - it WAS much brighter   :D  As for a concession stand, heck, we're happy with hotdogs from two card tables!  Absolutely most important is our team.  Gotta keep those spirits high while practicing smothering defense!  Be sure & prepare the freshmen for all the hoopla surrounding the Aggie/DeSales games.  They generally bring a ton of fans.  GO AGGIES!!!

kate

It was a shoot out tonight for the Aggie women, or i should say a Kim Vennera shoot out (she had 43 points i believe - a school record), but Del Val lost to DeSale's 98/81.  A shout out to the Aggie men here who  beat DeSale's in the guy's game 72/70.

kate

Very exciting to see both Delaware Valley College basketball teams, women's & men's, on the front page of D3 Hoops.  It would have been even better to see wins connected to the two by-lines, but congrats, again to Kim Vennera, & also, to the men's team!  Here's to many more headlines to come!!!

tribehoops

Is it just me or does the MAC Freedom have an abundance of pure scorers this season?  It really fun to watch these outstanding offensive players.  Burke and Rarick at DeSales, Vennera at Del Val, Fiorino at Kings, McIntyer at Alvernia, Cerankowski at FDU and Roland at Eastern to name a few.  I probably missed more.  Any given night these player can and have dropped some BIG numbers.  In the past week alone we've seen Fiorino hit for 35 and Vennera go crazy on DeSales for 43 in 34 minutes.  Burke has those kind of numbers in her every night.  Defense may win Championships but offense puts fannies in the seats.  I think it's a fun time for the freedom. :)
