I don't remember such parity in the MAC for a long time...My compliments to Wikes Coach E. and her team for the good fight they gave FDU yesterday. FDU was the obvious bigger, faster, stronger of the two teams, however, Wilkes still managed to put up 70+ points.

It has yet to be seen how FDU will respond in a close game this year. Win or lose, all of their games, so far, have been virtual blowouts.  Next up is Drew,  the "Battle of Route 24" aka Madison NJ's version of Tobacco Road...

Rachel is a former DeSale's player, and we all know that they always put up a good fight  :)

Maybe we can call it something like "Pharmaceutical Road" with the proximity of all those drug companies....After 40+ years, you'd think there would be a catchy name for this by now!

Drew beat FDU tonight 49/46, but there was no Shaleah Alston in the FDU line-up.  Big difference with her there, that's for sure!

.......Drew played with a lot of heart. A sincere congrats to them. Although Shaleah Alston was missing from FDU's lineup, there were still several opportunities for FDU to win the game. Right now I'm trying to make sense of the Devils' strategy and coaching decisions during the last 3 minutes of the game.

.....Should be a good one tonight:  Desales at Kean.....GO MAC !!!!

ronk

Kean is very good; should be too strong for Lidlow, Smith, Gavin, et al. Worth watching on the videocast to see how DeSales matches up with a potential final 4 team.

Nothing shabby about the DeSales performance tonight, yes they lost, but in OT, 69-65 - Good solid game for the Lady Bulldogs!  Great game from Wilkes beating Susquehanna 75-73 - Congrats to them!  Nice game by my Aggies, too, beating Immaculata tonight with all five of our starters in double figures, & Em and Jackie with double doubles!

DeSales put up a really good fight.

Led by 6 at the break and by as many as 11 points in the second half.  Kean made a run to tie it and led by 2 with 11 seconds left.  DSU scored, Kean then scored with 0.1 left...but refs called "T" when the Kean bench ran onto the floor celebrating.  Lidlow hit both T free throws to force OT, but Kean scored the first eight points of OT to get the win.

Tough loss, but one of those losses that I think will make DeSales a better team later in the season.  Always good to play good teams and get better from playing them.

DeSales proved themselves more than worthy as they played well enough on both ends of the court to frustrate Kean. I'd seen Kean demolish a decent McDaniel squad a few weeks ago with steals and layups, but DeSales made them work harder than they were used to tonight.
Lidlow and Smith make a nice backcourt, Hannah doing the offensive grunt work so that Lori can work for the basket when needed. Gavin knows what to do around the basket and Simmons was a factor underneath. Coach Richter will keep them in a game.
I was amused that the Kean videocast announcers had no idea what the T was for at the end of regulation. Also, surprised that it was called against the home team. In the old days, the refs probably would have just smiled and gotten the extra home players off the court, without the T.

BJSID,
this may qualify as a buzzer-beater that D3hoops might be interested in, i. e. how to tie up the game with .1 second on the clock.

I admittedly walked away from the courtside laptop at the end of my men's game after Kean took the lead with 0.1 left.

A few minutes later I walked back and a few of my students were huddled around my computer and I was like what are you guys watching...they said the game's in OT...I responded "stop playing games with me, what are you talking about."

Crazy ending...too bad we couldn't pull out the upset.

Our Brittany Battinieri had two rebounds shy of a double double last night, too.  The Aggie starters played a great game!  Ronk, i miss your commentary on the Del Val team.  I can see them really coming together - this weekend  we'll unfortunately miss two of their games in Elizabethtown with the host school and TCNJ.  This has to be the best time of the year - basketball everywhere!!!

kate

Uh, make that "triple double" please  :D

.....It's good Kean kept a pure shooter on the court.. Otherwise, all the size, quikness, and athleticism in the world would not have won that game for them...In all fairness to Kean, they played without their stand-out frosh, Tiffany Patrick.....DeSales ? Tough, smart, and dead game !!!!!  And I echo what was already said: this game will make them a better team.....
.....  Congrats to DVAL and Wilkes .....GO MAC  !!! (although I will also always be a big time fan of the Royals !)
