CORRECTION: Tiffany Patick is a senior at  Kean U., not a freshman but just the same, she's a stand-out star player. Does nayone know why she didn't play last night ?

Live stats - the BEST when they're working - the end of the world (well almost) when they're not.  E'town, please get em up & running - gotta support the Aggies!  Here goes - fingers crossed.

Aggie Pride - my girls held on in the Blue Jay Classic this afternoon beating E'town 70/61 (pretty sure that was the final score) - great team effort - congrats!

Actually, i'd be remiss if i didn't congratulate DeSales for their win over Messiah yesterday.  Since we weren't out in E-town at the Blue Jay Classic, if it wasn't such a busy time of the year, we would have been up in Center Valley.  Good win, Lady Bulldogs!

This will be Lebanon Valley's year to shine, Warren.  Here's hoping the MAC, both sides, will always be just like that, with parity all around.  Much more exciting.  Widener's pretty darn good this season, too.  Good luck to all our teams, especially playing outside the league!

Warren...I don't think there is any panic out in Grantham, PA.

Messiah usually spends the first semester getting themselves prepared for league play with tough games...granted they usually win most of those games...I think a young squad (just one senior) is going thru some growing pains currently.

Their losses are to one loss Johns Hopkins, undefeated Newport, one loss Widener (in OT on the road), and DeSales, who has four losses but has been to the NCAA Tournament each of the last three years.  As a side note ALL of those losses are on the road, a place young teams usually do struggle, especially if you are playing good teams on the road.

I fully expect this young Messiah team to be very prepared for games in the months of January and February.

This is exam week at Del Val, so i certainly hope that they're going smoothly.  How can a week with no Aggie games go soooo slowly, but soooo fast with everything to do before Christmas?  Looking forward to Monday's game with Lancaster Bible at 5 pm at Aggie Land!  That'll be our last game until Misericordia on the 8th of January.  Ursinus & Rosemont in between, but a little tricky to drive to.  Basketball season sure makes the winter fly.  Actually just checked the schedule & the Rosemont game follows Miseri.  Good luck to ALL our MAC teams as they play their last out-of-league teams.

Lebanon Valley is sure to shine this year, considering that they do not play against any strong teams. Messiah not the same Messiah team of the past.

On another topic. Does anyone know the process for the schools to select thier atheletes of the week ? Seems as though some of the schools select the same player every week. Do coaches select, is there a committee that selects ? Just wondering.

Took in the Kean/DSU game. DSU had trouble when Kean switched to a full court press. The defensive switch turned the entire game around. Kean was able to force turnovers that lead to easy baskets. DSU bigs missed way too many open layups and couldn't rebound the ball when it mattered. Kean took the lead on the last shot of the game because DSU couldn't hold onto the rebound. Lidlow was clutch at the free throw line to send the game into overtime. Standing at the line by herself, with the game on the line. What pressure shots. DSU did not keep up the intensity in overtime and left the 3pt shooter open. Overall, was a great game to watch.

Looking forward to the rest of the season.

For the Commonwealth and Freedom conferences, SIDs nominate Player of the Week candidates every Monday morning for the previous week's games. There is then a committee of SIDs who vote for their choice based on objective statistical data, strength of opponents, important plays, etc., and the conference SID tallies it up and releases it. I forget how many voters we have now, I want to say it's three. I'm sure BJ will correct me. Coaches do not have any hand in the process.

Now as for the actual schools that select athletes of the week, I'm sure there are all sorts of different ways to do it (we don't do it at Lebanon Valley). My guess is that it's usually the SID doing it.

Tim,

Thanks for the answer. So the SID's vote for the players of the week. Does the same apply for the end of the year All Conference Teams ?

My post was specifically about the Atheletes of the week at each of the schools. However, I appreciate your feedback.

No, postseason all-conference teams are nominated by and voted on by coaches. The conference playoff MVPs, similarly, are chosen by the winning coach.

They didn't want to put their streak in jeopardy  ;D

But in all seriousness, our next two opponents (Stockton and Ramapo) are 7-2... plus two vs. Messiah and two vs. a very good Widener team (not to mention E-town is 6-3). I'm not saying our schedule is super tough, but it isn't that bad...

Sorry been away from the board for a few days, catching up on some track & field work and doing Christmas shopping.  Unlike Kate...I love finals week, no games at DeSales and I get some time to play with my son.

Tim no reason to correct you...three voters it is on the Conference POTWeek award.

Merry Christmas to all...although I am sure I'll be back on the board prior to that.

With yesterday's loss to DeSales, the Falcons are now 4-4. Has Messiah perhaps de-emphasized women's basketball?   :)

Warren,

Just saw your post.  Even in jest it is not wise to kick a sleeping dog with sharp teeth. There is still a lot of basketball to be played and I would think Coach Miller/staff will do what is necessary to get the Falcons back on track going into conference play.
