With less than a minute to go Alvernia women beat GMC in the first round of their ECAC South Tourney!  Congrats!

We get Messiah tomorrow at Kean, anyone know anything about them??  All I know is that they started 5-6 and then won 15 of their last 17 to end the year.

Messiah played a pretty strong schedule; only lost 1 strong player from last year, so I don't know why they struggled(for Messiah); big people are decent; new point guard is coach's daughter. he's a pretty good coach.

This is their 13th straight year in the tournament right??  Was it 2002 & 2008 they finished NCAA runners up.  This could end up being a good game down at Kean.

7express,

Messiah is a very young team, 1 Sr, 3 sophs and 1 freshmen start with all underclassmen off the bench.  IMHO they sometimes rely on the 3 a little to much.  Their bigs (6'2", 6' and 5'11") can score/rebound when not in foul trouble. They play in your face "D"and try to use all the clock in a deliberate offense.  They have struggled this year putting points on the board as their shooting % is down considerably from past years.  They got off to a rocky start as one of last years starting guards missed the first 8 or 9 games. If they  shoot in the 45% range , minimize turn overs and hit a few 3's they will be in the game.  If W. Conn scores in the 60'/70's they will most likely get the "W"

FWIW, in the first round 2 years ago Messiah smoked a good (25-4)  E. Conn team by 35.

Best Luck to our three MAC teams in the Tourney tonight, DeSales, Lebanon Valley, and Messiah!  GO Mighty MAC!

Well, now it's go mighty Lebanon Valley!  Told you that this would be their year to shine, Warren!  We had actually thought about heading up to Geneseo today for what we were hoping would be a game tonight with DeSales in it.    Hey, Lady Bulldogs, you played two fabulous games last week to get to the dance (we saw em both), so there's nothing to feel that badly over.  MANY teams don't make it nearly that far.  Hope you enjoyed the proverbial ride.  See everyone next season, when i'm hoping my Aggies make a great showing.

Congratulations to Lebanon Valley College - still dancin!!!

Can not believe that no one is posting this week so far!  I wish the times for the games, both on Friday & the Sat. game would be indicated. The weather looks good for the weekend, and, it could come down to a Lebanon Valley/Kean game on Sat.  Certainly NOT to overlook Wm. Patterson & Christopher Newport.   Good luck to our MAC Lady Dutch on Friday night, cause if you're in it on Sat., there's a good possibility that we'll be there.  We have always enjoyed our stay in Annville - really love your gym, and we miss b'ball so much - BEST luck with Wm P. Friday - we'll ALL take it from there.

Thanks, Kate!  Super excited for the chance for our women to make the Final Four, since you never know when the next chance may come.  The cupboard definitely isn't bare after this year, but you never know what will happen.  Even with the adversity this team has gone through this year (lost Schultz, Nies, and Ruhl for the year during the season, etc.), we can't be prouder of their effort this season.  Couple their success with the unexpected season of the men's team, and it's been a great year to call LVC home!

The Very, Very Best Luck to the Lady Dutch when they take on Wm Patterson tomorrow night!  GO Lebanon Valley!

Same here - best wishes to our MAC representative, LV. It goes to show how a team can compensate for players they lose during the season.

I echo the sentiments of Kate, Mailsy and Sp0rtsfan. Best of luck to LV in tomorrow's game and hopefully a few more.   Heck of a season and team. Again congratulations to the Dutch and all of their supporters.
