An ideal situation would be for two more northern area colleges to join the MAC making us 10 and 10!  Do we get many requests?

kate

It's probably not for the public to know if the MAC has many requests to join.  I have said many times on here that i think it's a great league, mostly for it's diversity of schools and also that for the most part, there's parity in most sports, "most" of the time.  ;)  Tonight there's an interesting game featuring Misericordia at Marywood.  Because of Marielle Thorsen from Belvidere, NJ, i've always been a fan of the Pacers, but it's two good teams going at it tonight in Scranton!

Based on the rich history of the MAC, I don't  think there's any shortage of schools who would like to join it. Once in, I hope they appreciate the honor and make best efforts to continue tradition trademarks with great sportsmanship, facilities, talent, and most important, recognition of the term "Student Athlete".

On a side, as an avid Giants fan,  I can't be happier that they're going to the Super Bowl. The sole game I attended this year, at the Meadowlands, was when the Eagles made them look like a 3rd class team. Yes, times have changed !

Kate,
I thought you were a loyal Freedom/MAC supporter?
The person who says something can't be done shouldn't stand in the way of the one who's doing it.

Hi Lefty!  You better believe i'm a MAJOR MAC fan, but the old Belvidere pull is strong, too - like i said, two good programs should make for a great game!

Congrats to Misericordia, Christine had a record 36 points and they held my fave, Marielle to six points if i remember correctly.  Also it was the first Pacer home loss of the season.  Once again, gotta say Mighty MAC!

Should be a good game tonight - DVC Vs Devils..  The Aggies will be tested to break the press ...If they can do so, easy points for them. Based on previous stats, the Devils seem to utilize forced turnovers as a substitute for rebounding.  Aggressiveness, going to the hoop,  and a fast temp have been their trademarks in lieu of  shot selection and using the clock...

Good luck to both teams  !

Thanks, Sp0rtsfan!  We'll be watching your excellent live stats this evening (287 is a little tricky for us old people at rush hour  :)).  Enjoy the game and we'll look forward to the Devils February 18th trip to Doylestown!

Congratulations to the Devil's fans and team tonight - as they blew Del Val out of the water forcing 27 turnovers to FDU's 11, and scoring 26 (i think) bench points.  Kind of glad we weren't there for that one, as no amount of screaming for the Aggies would have worked.  King's remained undefeated in the league beating Misericordia.  My Sixers better win tonight  :-\

One more post here, Manhattanville played another incredible game, ahead most of the time, but lost to DeSales in the last few minutes in Center Valley 64/60.

BJ - DSU SID

The first-half of the season is complete with each team playing each other once.

Now we enter the first part of the important part of the season.  If playoffs started today it would be #1 King's, #2 Misericordia, #3 DeSales, #4 Eastern.  But the gap between 2-4 is literally just a few points on the scoreboard.  So a lot can and probably will happen in the second-half.

Enjoy the action...here is a link to this season's version of the Playoff Matrix - http://athletics.desales.edu/custompages/gen/Hoops%20Matrix%20Women.pdf?

Kate et all,
It seemed the Aggies were not ready for the Devils brand of aggressive basketball last night.. Also, FDU had their best FG % shooting game of the season despite hitting only 40% of their Free Throws.....Starting the 2nd half,  DeVal nailed their first 6 FG attempts and had a big time mismatch on the inside with their taller post players...For some reason, they went back to shooting 3's which did not serve them well....Over the last few years, these teams have split the season series. My sense is that the Aggies will be more focussed, from the start, when they meet again in Doylestown.

As for the Devils, I'm not sure they can play with enough consistency or incorporate needed adjustments to make a run at a playoff spot, however, they're certainly capable of producing an upset and rearrange the top 4 spots.

Oh BJ, thanks so much for the matrix - love your comment about a lot can and probably will happen in the second half of the season.   You're probably thinking DeSales will catapult themselves into the league lead, and maybe they will.  Sp0rtsfan, i really would like to meet you at that last game of the regular season when we play you guys.  It's senior day, and it will undoubtedly be emotional for the Aggies as we have four of them leaving.  I always want to say to the graduating players that they're not going anywhere.  Aggies for life! Yea, right!  Anyway, i really enjoy your posts, and Good luck to the Lady Devils the rest of the season, cept on Feb. 18th!

It will be so good to get back in the gym tomorrow afternoon for the Aggie game with Wilkes.  We've missed the last two games in a row, & that's huge in a relatively short season.  Still can't believe that it's been 15 years that we've followed the team.   The very best luck to the Aggies as they start the second half of league play - we look forward to some exciting games to finish the regular season -GO Del Val!!!

Sorry for the double, but there's a great article on the front page here on Cedar Crest College Senior scholar athlete, Lizzy Sunderhaus.
