Interesting scores from the MAC world this afternoon, first the Aggies had a solid game against Wilkes, winning 77/66, King's remain undefeated beating DeSales 45/40, FDU nearly handed Miseri a loss, the Cougars prevailed 71/69, and WOW, Manhattanville is now two and six in the league beating Eastern 81/65.  No sure wins in this league and THAT'S for sure!

kate

Very sorry (especially for Manhattanville), in yesterday's post, i had the final score transposed - Eastern beat the Valliants.

Hmmm......Is Kings due for a letdown after a big win against DeSales ?  FDU played  'Cordia really tough & should be ready, willing, & able to take on the Monarchs in Madison... Coach Donoghue has to already know that his team will be in for another fast paced 40 minute session. As for the Devils, there's no other strategy for them other than pressure  'D'  &  'take the shot  'O'....Kings dropped 90 on them the last time they met - not sure that will be the case again.

Kate, will let you know if I decide to make the Feb. 18 trip to Doylestown...

It would be fun to meet you Sp0rtsfan, so hopefully the weather's good and you can make the trip down.   On an unrelated note, in the D3 schedules and listings for the MAC Freedom, we've had Alvernia posted in the Freedom when they should be in the Commonwealth.  It really doesn't matter that much, but it's a little unnerving to keep seeing them with us when they're not.  Could someone fix this?

kate

That was quick - Alvernia back in the Commonwealth  ;)  Thanks to whoever did it.

Pat Coleman

Thanks. We make that change every year and then the new year always seems to throw it back in the Freedom. Can't tell you how many times I've made that change. Sigh.

As totally gut wrenching as the DelVal loss last night was to DeSales, 64/62 in the final seconds,  Cedar Crest College beat Centenary in a Colonial States Conference game 79/75.  Liz Sunderhaus poured in 36 points to lead CCC.  I'd post this on the CSAC board, but i'd like more people to read it.  Congrats to them!

Yes, agree, Bill - as FDU was able to come back against a scappy Wilkes squad & hold on for the victory. I still find it hard to believe the Devils don't have more wins this season...When I look at the stats, I see they've taken over 300 more shots than the opposition & have 180 less turnovers than their opponents..

chairman

But in the league, they are near the bottom in shooting percentage, shooting percentage defense, rebounding margin, and assists. They also send opponents to the line an average of  8 more times a game. They are still alive for a playoff spot because they cause a boatload of turnovers, but in trying to cause those turnovers, they surrender easy shots and foul. It is a style of play that has its benefits and costs.

bill

Yes. The real issue I see is FG%. Shooting 35% as a team for the season is NOT good. Even a 5% increase (teams shoot 40% against us) would win another2-3 games easily, in my opinion.

I'm in perfect accord with both the Chairman and Bill. Based on my observations over the last 3 years, my opinion is that the coaching philosophy of this team can't find a place on the floor for a good pure shooter. There's no value for one here ? Or for assists ? Or for rebounding ?

While the primary objective for a student athlete is to get their degree, it seems the Devils may be destined for another losing record. This means they are doing no better than they did 4 years ago with an interim coach.

For the Aggie/Valiant game tonight starting in 30 minutes, one has to purchase the video.  I REALLY love my Aggies, but here's to another early evening with live stats  :'(  Go Del Val!

kate

Major congrats to Aggie Junior, Emily Soper - she just hit the 1,000 point mark up in Purchase at Manhattanville!!!

kate

Again, congrats to Emily Soper, but Del Val lost a heart breaker tonight to Manhattanville 74/69
