Best wishes to Lauren Thomer....The Manhattenville program certainly improved during her tenure....I'm glad to see she left on a positive note..

Sure wish FDU would get a non-conference game against The Royals....I think both teams would benefit since their style of play is so different..

Good morning Sp0rtsfan!  Actually, Manhattanville really started to get competitive under Coach Candice Brown who's now at   Vassar.  Coach Thomer carried on what Coach Brown initiated.  At any rate, i'm sure the Valiants will find a great coach to succeed Thomer.   Anxiously awaiting the start of the season, cause we really miss seeing all our basketball buddies.

Good "point",  Pat....No pun intended...I guess that's what a good point guard can do for a program,  aka Carey Hickey... :D

Allison Kern has been named head women's basketball coach at Misericordia University:

The person who says something can't be done shouldn't stand in the way of the one who's doing it.

Thanks for the update, Lefty.  Was wondering when your new coach would be announced - she sounds great.  Welcome to the MAC, Coach Kern!

kate

Well, in addition to announcing their new coach, Misericordia now has their 2012/13 schedule up on their site!

kate

No new schedules up, but i was going over the 12/13 Del Val list, and two interesting OOC games jump out, the first, Eastern Mennonite University on Sat. Dec. 15 at 4 pm, and Cabrini on Monday, Dec. 17 at 7 pm.   We also resume play with Marywood, and these are all home games.  McDaniel doesn't have their new schedule on their site, so i'm not sure who we will be playing on Nov. 16th, but my guess is that we'd be on the court with Widener - we'll soon see!    I'm sure everyone is as horrified over this Penn State mess as i am.   We all have to be so careful with disclosures - just make them would be my rule -  "oh the tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive".   Please hurry up November!!!

Just noticed that the main MAC web page now includes the logos for Stevenson & Hood.  Still can't believe that the Commonwealth gets both teams, making the two sides lop-sided.   We'll see how this all unfolds.  Still say we (Freedom) could take back Lycoming at least.  Maybe a north/south re-alignment?  Interesting

King's gets a very nice addition with the transfer of Kacee Rava of Baptist Bible. A 6-2 center, Rava made the D3Hoops Third Team All Region (Mid-Atlantic Region). Rava was named the CSAC Player of the Year after averaging 16.7 points and 12.2 rebounds a game while accumulating 38 blocks on the season and 19 steals. She led the Lady Defenders in field goal percentage, shooting .533% (155-for-291) from the floor and .632% (74-117) from the free throw line. She ended the season with 12 straight double doubles.  She had single-game season highs of 36 points and 20 rebounds. She has junior eligibility at King's.  With the return of 6-foot starters Lindsay Atchison and Marissa Manning, she will give King's a formidable front line at the 3-4-5 positions.

kate

Good for King's, not so much for Baptist Bible.  Manhattanville has their 12/13 schedule on the site, but as per their page, no coaching news.

kate

Congratulations to our two MAC teams, Messiah, #4, and King's #25 in the NCAA D3 Honor Roll for the school year 2011/12.

kate

Eastern & Wilkes now have their 12/13 schedules up - still missing, DeSales & Wilkes.

Gotta love this - the MAC had a golf outing to celebrate their 100 year anniversary, and in the affair write-up, University of Scranton among others, is referred to as a "legacy member".   The event was well attended, even tho temperatures that day reached 100 degrees.   Seriously, long live the MAC!  PS here, great pictures to go along with the article on the MAC website.
