Greetings!   We just printed out the box score from this afternoon's Aggie/FDU game.  Del Val was whistled for thirty, that's 30 fouls, and FDU was called for 9, that's nine!  A very noticeable discrepancy there for sure.

But in the end Del Val still survived. The better team on the night still won.  :)

Thanks, Mailsy!  You are always the voice of reason - good luck to Cabrini in the CSAC play-offs!!!

Congratulations to the Aggies for showing the heart of lion on Saturday. The foul numbers don't lie, however, the one that counted the most was committed with 10 seconds left in the game. Once again, it's obvious that FDU's Kyra Dayon can take over a game at will but it was the excellent team-play and shooting of DeVal which prevailed in the end...

And a special congrats to the Devils for their fine season. The individual athletic talent of their guard-play was a known entity but my view is that the development of the post-play made the difference for them...Nice job !

The 07-08 Devils squad made it to the Freedom Finals.. One would think they can do even better this time.

i just have a feeling ... about tonight's commonwealth semifinals ...

messiah will flatten elizabethtown to avenge a shocking regular-season loss in grantham.  falcons win by 15-18 points and hold the 'jays to under 45 points.

a barn-burner in chester is to be expected.  in a battle royale to be decided in the last two minutes of play, widener will come from behind to edge lebval.  the pride will prevail by 3-4 over the dutchmen.  [for the life of me, i do not know why lvc women put up with the 'dutchmen' moniker... there's an identity crisis in annville.]

Good question.  Here's one alternative.... at Hope College, the men are the Flying Dutchmen while the women are the Flying Dutch.

i know for a fact that, probably 7-8 years ago before a field hockey game at messiah, the p.a. announcer referred to lebanon valley as the 'flying dutch.'  what happened next?  the lvc coach yelled up to the announcer and said something like, 'we're the dutchMEN.'  talk about strange ...

For the record, the "barn-burner" in Chester saw LVC win by 12, 68-56.

probably ends any chance that coach alisa's team will get a bid -- i don't see the selection committee taking three commonwealth teams ... though who knows?

congrats to messiah and lebanon valley on advancing to the championship.  can the falcons handle the 'flying dutch' for a third time this season?

Congrats to the Lady Devils for their win over Easter.....FDU game plan = keep Kyra Dayon on the floor for all 40 minutes...It's been the story-line all season... Less than 200 show for a playoff game; hope there's a lot more on Saturday.

Huge congratulations to our Aggie MAC All-Stars,  Brenna Coll, All-MAC Second Team, Emily Soper, All-MAC Honorable Mention, and Erin Anastasi, MAC Freedom Rookie of the Year!   In our book, you are ALL Stars!!!

bill

Congratulations to all who were selected for the Freedom All-League teams. Also glad to see that Marc Mitchell was selected COY, because only 1 player (Kyra) was chosen on the first two teams for FDU...

Here's hoping FDU beats Kings for its first ever NCAA tournament appearance!

Yo, Bill, please don't leave out Delisha Thompson, Rachel Groom, and Notre Dame of Easton's very own Leigh-Ann Lively!   FDU did pretty well, i'd say!

Kate

I did not intend to leave them out - they're great. My dig was at the voters - a #1 seed with only 2 conference losses got only 1 person on the first or second teams....to me, it either means Kyra is that much better than anyone else on the court (I suppose you can make that argument), or that Marc did a phenomenal job coaching....

Take Kyra off the court for just 10 minutes a game and I think you'll see how much they miss her..My bet is that she's a lock for POY and the voting for the all-conference selections basically confirms it (whether we agree or not on 1st & 2nd team picks) ... I give MM more credit for recruiting her than the game plans he puts together. It should be a good one on Saturday. Given the home court advantage, I feel the Devils should take it...Love the playoff hype. Best of luck to the girls on both teams.
