Lady Devils and Lady Jumbos - Go FDU!

bill

Too many missed chances... And lack of height caught up.

Congrats to Tufts.

Congrats to Tufts.

And the Tufts guards did a good job handling the ball and shooting against the FDU pressure.

As I saw it, too many wild shots by FDU; only 3 assists; and an obvious absence of floor time by bench.

When I picked FDU over Tufts, my thinking was that the Devils would get more from their bench than the Jumbos would. Losing Rachel in the preseason hurt FDU's depth, but I thought the combination of Leigh Ann, Delisha and Quenisha off the bench would be a much better scoring threat than anyone Tufts had seen and negate some of the Jumbos' defensive advantage.

Neither team got much from the bench and that hurt FDU. Lively's line encapsulates the lack of bench production: 8 minutes, 1 shot, no points.

Great run for that group of seniors, though I'm sure it hurts today.

Gordon, as always, thank you for your kind words and thoughtful analysis of the FDU-Tufts' game.  Congratulations to Tufts and also to the MAC's FDU!  Exciting run you had there!!!   Just let me mention a fantastic experience we had yesterday at the MAC men's and Women's Senior All-Star games, Commonwealth vs Freedom.  They were held at Albright College in Reading.  The admission was a food/paper goods donation to the Berk's County Food Bank.  When we left, the table and an enormous container were over flowing.  Before the contests a Special Olympics Clinic was held and several Special Olympians were recognized.  Did I mention how truly wonderful it was to see these D3 athletes performing and having a blast in which, for the majority, could be their last actual basketball games.  It was a joy to be there from start to finish!  Thanks to the MAC and all responsible!

Pat, thank you for your beautiful tribute to Lauren Hill.  This precious person, in her way too short life, did so much for D3 sports and humanity.  Heartfelt condolences to her Family.

Lauren Hill is the exclamation point of the word courage. I think any coach or player in this universe would trade a national championship to have her still with us..

O.K., any word on any schools that might be joining the MAC, particularly to replace Elizabethtown in the Commonwealth?

I pray there aren't any newcomers. The MAC is currently large enough, perhaps too large.  :(

Hello Warren - I just think it would be good to have both Freedom and Commonwealth even.  Ten and ten wouldn't be prohibitive.  You have nine now, correct?  We have eight, of course, and I wouldn't mind two more.  No more defections - Please!  I've said it many times before, I love the diversity of the MAC!

For what it may be worth ... since its inception in 1912, 57 venues have been full or "partial" members of the Middle Atlantic Conference.

From what I have heard... there was a lot of momentum at one point in realignment and maybe adding new members... but that has since cooled. Don't look for any realignment or new members in the near future.

Thank you Dave.  Hopefully as the academic year approaches, more schools will give this serious thought.  After all, they'd have us as fans  ;)!

Just got a look at next years schedule- and boy do we open with a good one! ;)
