Just got a look at next years schedule- and boy do we open with a good one! ;)

who?

ronk - sorry for the tease...I'm really not allowed to say just yet in a public forum. I can only say it's a very exciting matchup right now.

bill,
I understand; I asked our assistant for the nonconference schedule but she hasn't replied, yet. She came up with a great one last year - in 2 classics/tourneys, we played Eastern, Cabrini, Tufts, and Babson.

I hope the game is a lot more exciting than the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao  fight; bust of the century

Good morning Bill and Ronk - didn't know, after all these years, that opening tourney locations were secret!  Rosters, of course, because until that first October practice no one is sure of anything, but locations???  I know where we'll be - now, I just can't say  ;)!   Good luck to all of us.  Each year that we're able to make these games is one to be cherished.

Thank you Dave.  Hopefully as the academic year approaches, more schools will give this serious thought.  After all, they'd have us as fans  ;)!

Don't bet on it for one big reason ... realignment isn't necessarily going to solve anything. There is no perfect way to do it and no one likes any of the options. And adding two more teams also starts to hurt out-of-conference scheduling in a lot of sports. I don't think there is going to be any changes for several years unless something forces their hand... and right now, I don't see that coming.

Hi Dave - other than the Commonwealth having an uneven number of teams, what's "to be solved"?  Is that what you're referring to?

Dave 'd-mac' McHugh

There have always been complaints that some teams pass others in a different conference (Commonwealth passing Freedom; Freedom passing Commonwealth) to play conference games... that they want to be closer to their conference opponents... that they want to be in a more competitive, or balanced, or whatever conference... and so on and so on. It is also uneven, which people point to as always being a challenge (causing some conference teams to have more or less out-of-conference games to play - good or bad). There are also people who don't like others (shocking, right?! ... in any conference?!) and egos...

I think there has always been an effort to maybe improve things... but sometimes you can't improve things without hurting something else... so I think they are satisfied with what they have now since they can't really fix all the problems, concerns, or issues people may raise.

Thanks, Dave.  In D3 sports, as in everything, nothing's easy - for sure!  Could never be able to explain how much joy following our Del Val Women's basketball program has brought us!  We've also noticed the amount of coverage and interest has increased by leaps & bounds over the last 18 years!  It sure makes a long winter fly by.  Thanks, again.

Kate,
We're  2 weeks shy of your 2014 announcements of MAC women's bball schedules; please continue again this year.

kate

Sure will try, Ronk - these seasons just seem to go faster and faster!

I remember when Notre Dame played @ Kings(both run by the same religious order) to help them open up their new gym. But I'm so old that the new gym didn't exist when I played. Kings' used the Scandlon Fieldhouse(on the way to Kingston) then.

No, this was South Bend' s Notre Dame even though most of the starters were from DC(Austin Carr, Sid Catlett, Bob Whitmore, Colis Jones-pre Adrian Dantley, if I'm remembering correctly).
