No pre-season All American selections from the MAC. Perhaps it good fodder for a major chip on one's shoulder.

You didn't read very carefully:

Thanks, Dave. Yes, a complete oversight on my part as I was more focused on looking for players from the traditional MAC schools.

Dave 'd-mac' McHugh

What exactly are the traditional MAC schools? There has been plenty of turnover in the overall conference. I think there is just one of the original schools remaining. Widener.  ;D

While there has been plenty of turnover in conferences throughout the region, King's, Wilkes, Lycoming, FDU-Florham and Del Val have been in the MAC for 40+ years.  I'm not sure when Albright, Lebanon Valley and Messiah joined the MAC, but my guess is it's been more than 30 years.  DeSales has been around 20.

Arcadia, Alvernia, Hood, Stevenson, Misericordia, Eastern and Manhattanville all joined in the last decade or so.

Yep - I was just sharing that the only original member of the conference is Widener. DYK the conference was 37-members strong in the 1950s?

And for those last seven... they joined in 2007, 2008, and 2012 (depending on the school).

Believe it or not, there is an entire Wikipedia page(s) dedicated to it.

There's a really cool picture in Lebanon Valley's gym that shows all the MAC mascots at a dinner. So the Aggies are represented by a ram, Albright by a lion, etc. At the time the picture was drawn the Centennial conference teams were also at the party.

Dave,
I was working off of the word 'traditional' without the wikipedia page.

I know... just sharing interesting info. Not a knock at all.

My guess is that all of those schools in the '50's weren't like-minded.

Go through the list, especially those who founded the conference... surprisingly like-minded. I am blown away by how much people don't realize like-minded is a very common thing in the NCAA. Most of Division III conferences are formed for like-minded reasons. Too many people conflate "like-minded" for "Ivy League" (which coincidently is a like-minded conference). It just means the schools, presidents, etc. have the same motivations and goals. SMH

Speaking of conference and excuse me my ignorance, but why is there just one MAC board for the women?  Is it not two conferences like the men?  I wonder if people keep trying to find a MAC Freedom page on the Atlantic Region board?  Just curious.

The amount of traffic here is far lower, so a second one was never created or seem needed.

Looks like Albright, Wilkes, and Lebanon Valley were also original members.

Dave 'd-mac' McHugh

The original 13 members present at the formation meeting in 1922 were: Bucknell University, Drexel University, Franklin & Marshall College, Gettysburg College, Haverford College, Muhlenberg College, New York University, Princeton University, Rutgers University, Stevens Institute of Technology, Susquehanna University, Swarthmore College, and the University of Delaware.[1] In addition, another five members who were not present at the initial meeting but formally approved of the plan were: Columbia University, Johns Hopkins University, Lehigh University, Ursinus College, and Widener University.[1]

I don't see Albright, Wilkes, or Lebanon Valley mentioned here.

Per Wikipedia, Albright arrived in 1945, Wilkes in 1946, and Lebanon Valley in 1945. Though, there is a note about Widener starting in 1945 as well, but I am going by the info above.
