Love the poll this week!  Yes, we watched our Aggies in Moravian's Holiday Tourney, and though they came in third, they played LVC super tough, losing by just five and handled Penn State L.V. with no problem.  Proud fans here going into League play!!!

In every season there are surprises. Teams who rise to the top at some point making everyone take a second look at what is going on. For most, it is a matter of making sure they are still around come the midway part of the season. Are they still for real?

On Thursday's night's Hoopsville, Dave chats with teams who clearly aren't just start-to-the-season flash-in-the-pans. Some conference races are not shaping up how many expected when the season began and for these squads they are perfectly fine with that.

Don't forget tonight's coverage looks primarily at the East, Mid-Atlantic, Great Lakes, and West Regions, but will also include taking a look at this week's NCAA Convention and other news around Division III basketball.

Hoopsville hits the air live at 7:00 PM ET. You can watch the show on the following link or on Facebook Live: http://www.d3hoops.com/hoopsville/archives/2016-17/jan19. If you are unable to watch the show live, you can catch up On Demand or listen (or download) the podcasts (available when the show concludes).

Don't forget to contribute to the new "Hoopsville Mailbag" segment. Email questions you may have to hoopsville@d3hoops.com. Dave will answer them on air tonight or on a future show.

Guests scheduled to appear (in order of appearance):
- Mike Miller, Messiah women's head coach
- Chris Downs, St. Lawrence men's head coach
- Jon Miller, Hanover men's head coach
- Chris Novak, Bethel men's head coach

A few of my Facebook friends were growling about my political posts, and several of them have actually blocked my Del Val Aggie entries.  For what it's worth (a heck of a lot to me), win or lose we are 100% proud of both our Aggie Women's and Men's Teams.  Yes, I will say I virtually count the days until our next games!  Thanks for this opportunity to voice this!  Two big games with Eastern University on Wednesday night.  We'll watch the video, as that trip at night is a bit hairy for us.

That's the problem with Facebook and Twitter. When you  post personal information to the world, you become a target for trolls who don't care for your points of view. And sometimes it can be dangerous.

kate

Hello Warren!! Sure hope my Aggie posts don't EVER become 'dangerous', the political stuff - I'll weather the storm!

Seems like Kate was talking about facebook friends, not trolls.  Saw some of the same behavior among my facebook friends, arguing and bitterness among themselves over political opinions.  It's why I don't post political opinions on line; if you post a strong political opinion it can easily sound very intolerant and insulting to someone who holds the opposite view.  Really no room on line for nuance and dialogue as in an actual conversation, but plenty of room to alienate someone.  So I discuss politics verbally with my friends/family, take action where I feel the need, and figure strangers don't care about my political opinion posts anyway.

Now on line hoops discussion, that's a whole 'nother story!  Here, we all have a common interest that binds us.  Opinions fly and even if some of us are blatantly "partisan" about our teams, the discussion is usually great and generally it won't get you un-friended - even if some occasional negative karma :)

kate

Hello Roundball 999!  Sorry, I feel that politics are extremely important and affect us ALL!  However, you're right about supporting our team!!!  I've been on here for 15 years, and I honestly don't believe my support for our Aggies has ever waivered!  Not to mention it's great fun and they've always given us a season to look forward to!!!

Helps when FDU's coach is parked (more to come).

Thanks Dave and Gordon for the explanation.  It's so sad that there has to be animosity and divisiveness in our MAC.  After following this League for 19 years, with many games, I find myself pulling for both teams in any given contest.  Of course, my beloved Aggies reign supreme in my b'ball heart, but just sayin...   Hopefully this attitude by Coach Mitchell doesn't permeate too much to his players and the rest of the League participants.  Love parity and competitive spirit, but there in that line.

A classless act by the FDU coach and Devil players. There's no place in college sports for this garbage.

Two huge games for the Lady Aggies' and the Men's Teams tomorrow afternoon at 2 and 4 p.m. respectively.  We play those Cougars of Misericordia, the Women's Team to stay in the fourth and final play-off spot - the guys to stay tied for first in the Freedom!

Hello all,

I'm not the least bit surprised about the mini "protest", statement, whatever we call it from FDU. If you look back to our posts from February of last year, you''ll see I was quite angry about the situation as well...

I still wish the best for the Devils...the rise to prominence of this program truly amazes me. FDU's basketball program was below average to mediocre at best...and now it will be news when they don't win the conference and advance in the NCAA's. Coach Mitchell, in 8 years, now has almost 35% of all the wins in FDU program's history.

Best wishes to all....
