  Saratoga
Per the postgame interview with Strong tonight, he's sticking with the 5 subs at a time.
My thoughts:it keeps the ladies on their toes at the risk of a loss of continuity. probably the quickest way to develop the post position by giving the 4 players comparable playing time until someone moves to the forefront.

For the record, Drew is 4-0...I don't know why they have them listed as losing to John Jay when the press release attached to it says they won.  I do know they won, but now the big games come up for them, we'll see how they stack up.  Cunningham went off in their opening weekend, but now it's conference time...

Hi everyone!! Long time bball fan here, esp. D-3, specifically the MAC and Lady Royals....love reading the posts, so now I've decided to write some.....

Drew vs. Scranton this weekend at the Long Center.....could be the toughest competition the Lady Royals have in the conference......Drew can be pesky......and they are confident, a dangerous combination.....any thoughts??

Hoopchick---bballislife...

Before I speak about the UOS vs Drew matchup..where do you get the nicknames from???? I wish I was that creative..

Anyway. I remember the home game, in Scranton, last year when we played Drew and vividly remember stating that they were a player or two away from being able to hang for the entire game. With Cunningham back Kraft will be even more troublesome. With that said I think that Drew will stick around for the better part of the game but for them to have a realistic chance they will have to get either great bench play or the starters need to be in excellent physical condition as they will play the entire 40 minutes.

I am anxiously looking forward to seeing this years version of the Lady Royals. However, it will be tough watching them play without Tara, Eileen, and Maura.

Big Drew fan Here. A player who might earn the unsung hero award for the Rangers last season (when Cunningham was lost for the season yet Drew equaled its 2003-04 season record) and early this season is Maggie Marquis. Through the first four games,  Marquis is among the conference leaders in almost every offensive and defensive statistic. Further, with all due respect to Cunningham and Kraft, Marquis is the best defensive player and best conditioned athlete on the team. At 5'6" she is a great rebounder with good leaping ability and outstanding speed. The Drew back court may be the deepest in the conference this year with these three super guards averaging 35+ minutes a game. Not sure if our young but talented bigs are quite ready just yet to deal with Scranton in "the Valley", but look for Drew to be competitive in conference play this season. Drew played its worse game of the season last evening yet still handled a young DeSales squad quite easily at home.

Drew has a very nice club and will present Scranton with some problems...for awhile. The fact that the Lady Royals go 15 deep will certainly eventually wear on Drew as the Lady Royals pull away. Because Drew already knows its starting 5 and sub patterns will be an asset early as Scranton subs in groups of 5 and that does at times create an absence in continuity & flow to the game. However, this is necessary as Coach Strong has to give playing time to all to see which group becomes his starters & which matchups & sub patterns work best. If Drew hits early & Scranton is cold from the start as they have been it will be interesting. Don't underestimate Scranton's defense which remains one of the best nationally...from the Long Center it will be, Scranton:73/ Drew:58.

I just returned from the Scranton - Drew game. Same old same old. Drew played with the Lady Royals for the first 10 minutes but then fell behind 42-19 at half and eventually lost 80-45. Had the Royals played their starters any longer they would have gone over 100pts. Coach Strong rotated 5 fresh players in about every 7-8 minutes. It made if difficult for Drew to keep up. I will say this about Drew, they have an impressive starting lineup and they will upset a few teams along the way. However, depth??????????

Hoopster--you are right about Marquis, she never stops moving and looked great the whole game.

Just got home from the King's - Del Val game - major congrats to the Aggies - 72 -65! Couldn't tell ya who was high scorer, but it seemed like it was Juli.  Aggies blew a big lead, fell behind by four, then rallied  -  Gotta love em - Go Del Val!

Great win by the Lady Royals....they needed it....Put a good team like Drew away early and never let them back in...and  made a statement to the rest of the league (that they're the team to beat) by taking apart what could be the #2 team in the league (at least one of the top four as far as I can see)......great job ladies!!!

Now lets talk about the rest of the league.....Drew upsetting DeSales, DelVal beating Kings (congrats Kate).....Seems like the number 1 spot may be locked up by the Lady Royals, but the numbers 2,3,4 could be WIDE open.....esp. for some new teams to slip in there....should be an interesting conference run.....

Geesh been getting timed out since late this afternoon.  The new site my be an improvement but the scoreboard feature sure is not one of them.

Some scores:

Messiah over Lebanon Valley 78-52
Moravian nips Juniata 65-64
Widener remains undefeated 63-57 over Susquehanna.

The Commonwealth side of the conference should be a real battle among the above 4 teams this year.

$00.02:

An overloaded scoreboard just might be testimony to the popularity and success of Webmeister Pat's work. And it costs you nothing.

mytwocents

What is that supposed to mean? The scoreboard was overloaded for more than 4 hours.  If it is due to more interest great. Congrats to Pat and associates.  If it was a site/ equipment glitch fine but I do not appreciate the barb and condescending attitude.

Pat Coleman

The "new site" (actually a new message board) and the scoreboard (old scoreboard, same format since 2002) are not related issues. They run on separate servers, in fact, which allows us to keep the message board open even when the rest of the site is getting slammed.

I apologize for the outage. We have had a new server that was supposed to be installed on Nov. 1 but has not been yet. I feel your pain and am pretty p-o'ed.

two cents:

No condecension or barb intended. I was merely trying to say that it wasn't Pat's fault. Since we don't pay money to participate, perhaps we should cut him some slack.
