Kate---Your posts have just become completely irrelevant...Have a nice life.....

kate

You know, darn well, that i'm 100% correct, Roy - You beat DeSales by one, then the King's star player "fouls out" with ll minutes to play - she certainly knows better - come on!  If it's not a "ho hum" game as one of you guys posted previously, you & you refs certainly know what to do!   As long as there's teams like yours' , i  may not "have a nice life!"

Kate,

I appreciate your emotion, I really do, however,do you really think the refs are intentionally doing something like that?   Now, why does one of the DVC players have to be restrained from going into the stands????

ihavenolife

OK, enough with Del Val vs. Scranton already!  With all due respect to those two teams and their fans.

Moravian beats #1 Messiah -- thoughts anyone?

saratoga

Kate: I appreciate your loyality...I really do but, you have to take the emotion out of it for a minute or 2 and let me bring things into perspective. First, DVC HAD to play the game of their collective lives to win this one & Scranton already knew coming in they were the #1 seed. Therefore the momentum was probably going to favor DVc early on. Second...these are NOT Scranton refs as you speculate...rather, they are assigned by the MAC Conference and NOT the respective school. I do agree that the girls from DVC probably outplayed the Lady Royals for about 35 minutes...but, last time I checked it was a 40 minute game. The reality is when Scranton "FINALLY" started pressuring the ball, bad things were happening for the Aggies...not referee induced but, internal breakdowns. If I were a totally neutral observer I'd say DVC couldn't have played a better game & Scranton couldn't have played a more horrendous game...that said, if your team still loses it's not the refs fault...take a serious look at your shooting % over the last 5 minutes of the game...20%...not going to get it done Kate. Next point...your "fans" are pretty bad when they charge an official during the game then refuse to leave when thrown out. Lastly, when you have a player that blatently pushes an opposing player because she stole the ball from you & you keep walking at her & push her again...I say if the "Scranton" refs had any balls they'd have thrown her right out of the game & made her sit the next...if you have a next one. And by the way, maybe you have unlocked the complex puzzle as to why Scranton hasn't won the BIG one...but, before you pass judgement...win more than 10 games a year & get to a few Final Fours...then you may understand the competition that's out there. Until then, good luck at Desales.

Ihavenolife: No thoughts regarding this outcome...as bad as Moravian has played recently, this outcome was predictable 2 months ago.

Saratoga, just so you know for future reference, the MAC does not assign officials in men's or women's basketball, they are assigned by a body which assigns officials, I believe the ECAC.

The ECAC also supplies football officials for most, if not all the past and present MAC schools.

The only time the MAC even gets involved in trying to secure officials is for the Freedom and Commonwealth Tournaments.  The MAC does not have anything to do with obtaining officials for regular-season games.....

Which is probably a shame as coaches might have a little more input as to who are the good ones to hire and the bad ones to avoid.

ihavenolife

Saratoga, with all due respect, I don't get it -- are you saying that MORAVIAN has played badly recently?

From what I can see, the only really bad loss for the Greyhounds RECENTLY was 81-69 at Juniata Jan. 27th.  They lost by 4 at Messiah, by 1 vs. Albright, by 3 at Muhlenberg -- and now are riding a 3-game winning streak.

Beating the #1 team in the nation is special any time, I think.

kate

Roy. what the heck are you talking about - obviously you didn't see what happened.  Matt didn't llike the intentional foul she got from Vennera, & she tried to hit her back.  Both players were restrained - Kim by our gracious wonderful lady senior player, Rachel Joyce.  Your observation was off the mark - absolutely no one was "headed for the stands!"  Also the dads in question left the gym - if it was my daughter slaughtered by the Scranton player, you'd have to restrain me BIG TIME!   Yipee, Moravian won :(

roy_a

Kate,

My observation was 100% correct. I am speaking about what happenned after the game. Ask # 23 what set heroff as she left thecourt. She was yelling into the stands on my side of the gym and was restrained from going into the stands.......Keep in mind this was after she chased down the refs....

saratoga

Bob: Thanks for the clarification...ECAC assigned vs. MAC assigned. The point I was trying to make is that Coach Strong no more than Coach Hogan has the ability to sit in their office & hand pick which officials are heading their way for a particular game.  Ihavenolife...of course beating the #1 ranked team in the nation is special...enjoy it! What I was saying was simply that Moravian with 10 losses has certainly not had a really good year...and for many people I know that really follow the game, having the Lady Hounds win this one in Bethleham was predictable back in December. Yes, Moravian has won 3 in a row...but, just prior to that they lost4 in a row...so consistancy has been an issue. Thanks for posting up though...you may be the first from the Commonwealth side this year. As for DVC...I am surprised at the lack of sportsmanship...being frustrated is one thing, acting like female versions of Dennis Rodman is quite another.

ronk

Saratoga/Roy,
Sounded like an ugly game by the royals:
            11 turnovers/11 min
at least 3 offensive rebs turned into baskets by Ditmar in same       time frame
no getting ball into Tiffany down low
2-pt shots straddling the 3-pt line
Disappointing that it's still happening this late in the season with a veteran crew. The good teams to be met in the tounament won't be overcome with such play.  Thoughts?

kate

Just call me "Dennis" from here out if you want to, #23 was the one taking the primary beating for the last five minutes of the game (how would any of us like to be smacked around knowing we had the game won & through NO fault of our own were being whacked?), & finally, Del Val is a GREAT team, Ronk, & we proved it twice this year with you.

saratoga

Ronk: Correct on all accounts. The Lady Royals came out like this would a walk in the park & DVC was playing for their playoff lives. However, it certainly seems to me that Scranton had zero game preperation for this one. They have Taryn with a huge size advantage & never sneak her inside to post up the girl guarding her. They have Tiffany & they never isolate one side so she can go one on one without having 8 other people in the way. Their offensive spacing is horrible as kids are still getting in each others way & preventing driving lanes from opening up for Allie & Taryn...getting out-positioned for rebounds has been a problem against physical teams all season. DVC could have been pressured all game resulting in the numerous turnovers we finaaly saw in the last 5 minutes...why wait so long & almost let this slip away? Never once did Scranton go to multiple defensive sets to disrupt & confuse DVC...press, trap, zone, back to man etc. For 35 minutes they let DVC get in their half court offense to pound the ball in & then kick it out for open looks...I guess you have to win ugly sometimes & hopefully this will be a wakeup call that each & every team they play is going to try to be physical & take their best game right to them. At the end, the Lady Royals met the challenge...I just hope it can be used as a learning tool as this is what they can expect every game out from the opposition. DVC had a game plan that worked & was rarely challenged...until the Lady Royals decided it was time to take their game to DVC and to get assertive themselves. Sometimes a team needs a game like this to fully realize what's lying in wait out there...those that learn move on, those that don't...  On another topic, congratulations to Allie & Taryn for winning the Dr.Davis award this year as seniors as well as going out as seniors having never lost a game in the Long Center during the regular season. Drews ladies pull off a huge win against Kings yesterday creating a real opportunity for them to take over the 4 seed.

TC HOOPS

Sounds like a great game between D-Val and Scranton. I am a Gwynedd Mercy fan, people don't get into the PAC like they do in the MAC. I know the league is weak this year but GMC is a great team that gets no respect. Hopefully we meet up with Scranton in the NCAA, it would be a great game.
