Well...it was a nice ride while it lasted.....To the Lady Royal seniors thanks for the memories....What a ride....1 home loss in 4 years. Not too bad...

As for the games in Scranton tonite.   Bowdoin was clearly a step ahead of Rochester at every turn. The defense was smothering and Loonin,Flahertyand Anelauskas were pretty darn good...

Scranton--MaryWash--This was a 3 point game that could have gone either way. About 4-5 pts scored by both teams combined over the last 5 minutes or so.Scranton had some shots but they just didn't fall. I think Mary Wash is going to match up well against Bowdoin and it should be an entertaining game.

Just read in this morning's newspaper that Alvernia will be joining the MAC in the 08-09 season - welcome to the League!

You oughta read D3hoops.com. We had that news on Monday.

Very sorry to our fellow MAC (for just 2 more months) Lady Royals on their heartbreaking loss last night to Mary Washington.  Fine time for that basket to "have a lid on it".  Really don't know who to pull for tonight.  Second, Pat, with everything going on, b'ball wise, i did slip on reading the D-3 news - come these coming summer months, we'll be more deligent.  It would be cool to add Miseri to the MAC (that didn't sound right :)), and finally, i miss the Aggies - is it Nov. yet???

kate

That's "DILIGENT" - Come on people, let's keep this site really going during these next 8 months - you certainly don't have to have a daughter on a team, although that's interesting, too - but let's keep D-3 Women's b'ball really rolling!!!

When the shots don't fall(because of good defense on both sides),then the difference was the offensive rebounds and put-backs. It was the type game in which Kelly Lewandowski thrived(box out on the defensive end and get a few on the offensive end). But we didn't have her and UMW got it done on our home court and w/o a starter(ACL injury).

Tammmy,Casey, Tiffany: congrats for the 2-year run.

Allison, Taryn: It's been an exciting 4 years;you made it happen.

Steph: Believe in yourself. When the team is struggling, you'll be the go-to-gal. Transition(defense to offense and vice/versa) time is your time.

Tonite: Interesting game- UMW's defense is tough but I don't know from whom they'll get their points on offense against Bowdoin. Mobility of Flaherty on offense could be the decider.

Toga,
My paperboy didn't deliver to my house since Friday. Can you tell me how the Lady Royals did over the weekend? ::)

Misericordia has accepted an invitation to join the MAC beginning with 2008-09.

CC: No paper since Friday??? You better start leaving better tips then! Just took a few days off after the game...what can you say? I think Roy pretty well summed it up...what an incredable ride the Lady Royals have had over the past 4 years. One Elite 8, one SweetSixteen, and two Final Fours...and in-between...only 1 home loss in those 4 years and zero conference losses...not too shabby! I remember seeing Jackie Dougherty back in the early 90's & thinking I hope I get to see another player like her on the same team...then Lynn Kempski developed. Then when you thought the run was over, Jen Nish shows up with Kate Dougherty# 1 and it's off to more Final Fours...then before you knew it, Kelly Halpin was starting to pick up where the others left off & getting the Lady Royals back  to more Finals ..then it was Katie Doc# 2 & Kate Pierangeli getting them so very close and then the daily double of Taryn & Allie arrived & the streak took off to unbelievable heights. And in between all of the stars have been the role players that show up every night & minus the glamour just get it done whether crashing the boards, boxing out, diving for loose balls or scoring a key basket along the way or just playing incredable defense...it all adds up to perhaps the greatest run the MAC Freedom will have ever seen. Now it's off to the Landmark & a whole new adventure...and if Coach Strong can bring in the next young Taryn or Allie or Kelly...it may turn out to be same team...new conference...new year...same success.

I noticed that four of the five first-team 2006-07 ALL-Region MAC  players were selected from the Freedom  Conference. I thought  that was interesting since I remember there were a few comments during the year that the Commonwealth Conf. seemed a little stronger this past season......

Congratulations to Taryn, Scranton & Andrea, King's & also to Allison Matt ( the guard from Allentown Central Catholic who we saw play at Easton Area :)), for being named to the regional all-star team!  Certainly we wish Taryn & Allison all the best!  Also, welcome College of Misericordia for the 08-09 season!  Still miss my Aggies, but the college NCAA's are about to start - GO RUTGERS - GO TEMPLE!!!

kate

So sorry, didn't mean to overlook Courtney & Melissa from Drew - major congrats to them as well!!!

Kate,

Thanks so much for the warm welcome.

FYI, there is no "OF" in College Misericordia.

Sorry, Lefty, i'll get it right from here on - after this final four - GO MARY WASHINGTON - can we find out who will be in the MAC Freedom & Commonwealth sides of the league?  i thought i had it down, but now with the addition of Arcadia & College Misericordia, not too sure where everyone aligns.  Thanks!
