Very sorry for the double, but was just checking Manhattanville & Arcadia websites, & any school that has a men & women's ice hockey team & has graduated a huge percentage of the Kennedy family is more that good enough for me :) - also, Arcadia has their fall sport's schedules up, so there's certainly two colleges that i'm darn glad to have in the MAC!!!

Any Kennedys who graduated from Manhattanville did so when it was a Catholic women's college.  The men's ice hockey team could be considered the best D1 squad competing in D3.   ;)

Just so you know, King's and Scranton will be playing in most other sports other than hoops next year. Not sure what is happening down the street, but that is the case here.

I love the term "like-minded."  It can be applied to almost any group, including racists, criminals, lawyers, politicians, and military personnel, to name a few.

Some would even argue that it can also be applied to colleges who think they are elite when they really are not but try to place themselves at that level by the use of smoke and mirrors, or in this case a conference affiliation

The bottom line is that there are plenty of kids at those like-minded schools who do not fit the profile of the average student at that particular school but have been admitted because they are a student-athlete.  And every one of those coaches knows it too.

It is funny how you always hear coaches say something like......."Wow, Joe Shmoe got into School-X" and they tell every one and their brother in an attempt to run that school down........but when John or Jane Schmoe gets into their school, the never say a word.

And then they act like their student body is better in terms of behavior, like some of the comments made during hoops season.  But I guess that when there is a certain conference baseball doubleheader being played at Connell Park and a bevy of the home school's students are there visibly impaired sucking from bottles in brown paper bags and swearing at the visiting team's players and coaches, and nothing is being done from an administrative position, that constitutes being elite as well.

But since it happens at a sport where there is not as big a fan base as basketball, that makes it OK.  You may try to blow smoke up people tails with your self-anointment, but you are not fooling the majority.

  And why not hoops, also?

As far as i'm concerned, there's lots of good things happening in the MAC - first, we should be happy that the teams leaving ARE those that feel they're just too darn cool to be with anyone but each other.  Second, i've said it before but here goes again, the level of competition at Drew increased dramatically playing the last nine years in the MAC so i'm sure we'll do the same with new members.  The level of good competition has risen with Del Val, as well (except for two major meltdown :(), & FDU & Lyco were playing like teams possessed at the end of the season.  Let's give our new members a fightin chance.  Happy Memorial Day!

Ladies and gentlemen, that's the official word of the King's College athletic department, as delivered by it's spokesman!

I was not aware it was the job of the SID to add fuel to a rivalry fire that way. Good show!

When will people learn is that their email is visible on these boards?

The Hit List from last football season:

1. Ryan Fluellen, Assistant Football Coach at Cortland

2.  Some lineman at Springfield

3.  Nick Gatto, LB at Alfred

4.  Assistant SID at Norwich whose name I forgot.

Now we can add Bob Ziadie, SID at Kings to the list.

If I were you Bob, I would email Fran Elia at Cortland for advice.  No SID that posts on this forum is more professional.  What's more, Fran signs each of his posts.

P.S. Bob IC is going to pound you guys.

Could it be that the one brother did not get into RPI and had to settle on a Landmark school?

Bob-

That WAS nice of you not to name the school! I will not be so nice to you.

If you want you can scroll down to "K". And look around. You won't find anything that looks familiar. You WILL, however find RPI under "R" and Ithaca College under "I". Why Ithaca College, you ask? Because when we're pounding your football team's ace on September 8th, you're going to be wishing some more "elite" athletes, like the ones at IC, had "settled" for King's college and the nightlife in wilkes-barre I keep hearing so much about.

Jose-

Don't forget windbag and Dougher's mom on the baseball boards. Can anyone out-diligent the E8 posters??

PBR...

one thing pbr will say about kings is they are one big physical football team. and you may win the game but you will come out of the game whooped. they are one physical football team. pbr think ic may win but pbr doubts pound them will be a term to describe the game.

maxpower

Honestly I don't know King's football team from shianola, I'm just trash-talking one of the most unprofessional SIDs in the biz.

PBR...

pbr understands max.....its all good....where is jqv thought he was lurking around here?

NEPAFAN

I had no idea BZADIE was Bob Zadie.  Thanks for clearing that up guys!

Zadie obviously you are talking about Scranton, so why not come out with the sport? You have made no real attempt to hide the kid's identity so you might as well totally "out" him. After ripping Saratoga (old man! ;D) you're now picking on an 18-year-old. Good Work!

A school without football is in danger of deteriorating into a medieval study hall.

I am around PBR.  The whole thing just cracks me up.  All I really know about Kings is that they are the team Fisher beats right before playing IC.  Well, I take that back, I know that and that their SID posts on post patterns.

PBR...

this is LOL stuff....here pbr thought these boards would be quite since its post season and man talking about hitting a hornets nest with a baseball bat

maxpower

Maybe someone should e-mail the man's comments over to the Scranton SID, see what he thinks. Where's Upstate when you need him??
