Congrats to Messiah on their victory tonight.. I think it is great that one womens and one mens team from Pennsylvania are going to the Final 4. Ursinus, Centennial Conference, had to go into overtime to get there.

Great job to the coaches from Messiah.

Good luck in Salem..

kate

Yes, congratulation to Messiah - the final four!  Understandably DeSales wants Howard Payne to win it all, but as a diehard MAC supporter, let's call it - Messiah 53, HPU, 49  -  GO Messiah, GO MAC!  Also, how about those Sixers :)!

mytwocents

Kate,

No offense intended but I would like to think that DeSales and all the MAC teams would be pulling for Messiah in the Final 4.

saratoga

Congratuations to Messiah & all the very best to Coach Miller, his staff & all the young ladies that made this accomplishment possible. Enjoy the ride...win, lose or draw, it's a lifetime of great memories.

kate

Mytwocents. i'm sure DeSales is rooting for you guys - their sid commented that they wanted HPU to "finish it" after they were beaten by them the other night.  That's just human nature - we all want Messiah & the MAC in the national spotlight.  Kudos to D3 Hoops, as well, for making all the teams readily recognizable.  We're all in D3 together!

Kate and Saratoga,

Thank you both for your kind words and support.  Looks like the battle for number #1 already took place with the HP/Hope winner.  Guess Oglethorpe, UW-Whitewater & Messiah are playing for 2nd place.  :)

kate

Yes, Oglethorpe has a neat nickname, the Stormy Petrels, but you CAN beat em, Messiah!  Let's face it, the Final Four  -  not too shabby :)!

luvdahoops

Apparently the NCAA didn't think that Hope and Howard Payne were the two best teams in the country.  That's  why they were placed in the same regional!

So -- NO -- the championship game was not played at Howard Payne last Saturday night, any more than it was at Messiah, or UW-Whitemater, or Kean!

A perfect record does not necessarily mean that an unbeaten team is the best team in the country.

Kudos to the four teams in the Final Four, who will be playing the championship Saturday night.  BTW, it will be broadcast on CSTV at 6:00 p.m.

Pat Coleman

Yes, and we'll have streaming video of both semifinals and the third-place game, along with audio of all four games for the 93% of the country that doesn't get CSTV.

luvdahoops,

My comment on playing for 2nd place was meant in jest based upon the final 4 poll on the main page and all the ink about the HP/Hope winner.  Thought a smiley face would help convey that. Guess it didn't.

Best of Luck to the Falcons against the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels.  I agree Kate it is a cool name.  Coach Miller was interviewed on Hoopsville. Nice job coach.

Playing for second is not the postive that the ladies from Messiah need.. They will win two games and get the crown.
Let's be postive and cheer on the home conference team, even though there is no Maryland team in the MAC. We do border PA and I cheer for the Centennial Conference..

Nice article about a new recriut for Muhlenberg.. I know that it is not the MAC, but still a nice story

old ends,

My comment "playing for 2nd" was an attempt at a little levity.  Geesh, tough audience.  ::) I am a Messiah fan first and foremost.  The Falcons are  capable of winning it all if they play to their potential.  I am sure Coach Miller and his staff will have them well prepared.

luvdahoops

Hey, mytwocents.

Explanation accepted.  But your comment about playing for second just didn't come off as "levity"...at least to me.  (Actually, though, I hope that all the hoopla surrounding that game -- created mostly by the Hope College faithful -- will have Howard Payne thinking that the championship has already been won.)

If Messiah comes to the Final Four with a business-like attitude and focuses solely on the opportunity that awaits, they are fully capable of winning it all.

Sorry for the misunderstanding..but you understand that not knowing you and reading a post, it did not have levity stamped on it. Much like the oops I now have stamped on mine.
