Iowa Baseball is 3-2 so far, so to me that is worthy of mention while they are still over .500.  I have no hopes for them having a consistent season until I see some consistent starting pitching, but I guess it is a small victory for the Hawks that they were able to take 2 of 3 against Big East teams.

There is not much left to follow in college baseball for me outside of the Iowa Conference in Iowa now that UNI dropped baseball and the struggling Hawkeye program is the only Division I program left in the state.

They do have a better record than the Gophers right now!

Just happen to catch Wartburg vs. Macalester late Friday night.  I was highly disappointed by the Macalesters players and fans.  A little heckling by the opposing team and fans is baseball but they took it a bit far by attacking Wartburgs young players to no end.  After stumbling over all their beer cans it was obvious why they were so verbal.  I hope the Metrodome staff could patrol alcohol being consumed at college games.  I wouldn't count Wartburg out yet, they just have a few mental errors they need to overcome.

So the Macalester players were stumbling over beer cans in the dugout too? Must have made losing to a middle-of-the-pack MIAC team even more embarrassing for Wartburg.

What kind of team or school could even think of acting like this!!!!!!  It is crime and a shame that anyone would disrespect a team like Wartburg. Wartburg is the model of class and respect.  HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA.  Funny to hear a warthog cry about being disrespected and heckled.  Now that is what I call karma.

Not sure I would call myself a wartburg super fan but the fact remains I am not a fan of drinking at college games of anykind.  I dont really know the rich history of wartburg but sounds like there may of been some heckling in the past that I was not aware of and never have witnessed yet.  Too bad that the fans can't cheer on their favorite teams without the critisim.  Go IIAC!

There is no NCAA policy against alcohol sales at any NCAA regular season events on or off campus.  NCAA policy only covers post season play, excluding DI football. Bowl games can sell if they choose.  Individual schools and conferences make the rules for regular season games.

Wartburg split with the Oles this week to move to 1-3, but getting a split with a top-25 program is a solid step ahead from the opening doubleheader.

Any predictions changed at this point?  I am a bit concerned about the Knight's slow start.  They have never been known for their stellar pre-conference performances but I would like to see them string together some wins to build some momentum before "nut-cuttin' time."

Wartburg's Billy Schmitt chucked a no-no against Concordia (MN) today.

Interesting first quarter of the season.  For most teams, coming back to Iowa and playing will show their true colors.  I have been very impressed with Central offensively.  To me, they look a lot like this year's version of Loras.  They are hitting the crap out of the ball and with power, however, so far their pitching hasn't been as strong as most would have thought it would be.

Wartburg is young!  We all knew that going in, but assumed that they would overcome like they always do.  I think they will get untracked at the plate, but I see a post season berth as unlikely at this point.

Loras got jobbed by the weather in Florida losing 4 or 5 games.  Its going to be hard to make those up.  I don't see a lot of changes in my predictions except thinking that Central is going to make a run........

Congradulations to Schmitt!  He's got to be one of the toughest on the mound.

Looking over all the stats.. Schmitt is a four year starter for Wartburg putting up some good numbers!

I'm confused.  Are you going somewhere with this?  Or just making a statement?

ohh.. just a statement.  Just not alot said about him.  I'd also have to say Dave Johnson for Simpson has a hot bat in pre season.  It will be interesting n seeing whos going to jump out on top in iiac confrence play.
