Another big win by B.V. as they move to 3-0 in the NCAA Regional after the 7-6 win today over IWU. :)  They were up 6-2, gave up 4 runs late, then bounced back and took the lead for good.

They get Carthage again tomorrow, but Carthage has to beat them twice.  Good luck Beavers!  Hopefully they have pitchers ready to go.

Congratulations to BV - all three wins are vs. the CCIW.  As a Titan fan, I admit I took BV as lightly as the selection committee did - I can't believe we lost to them twice on our own field. :(

Losing twice to a school that doesn't even know how to properly pronounce their own name! :o ;D

If Carthage can't pull off an IWU tomorrow (last year, IWU swept Carthage on the final day of the conference tourney to even reach the national tourney), I'll root for BV to be the IWU in Appleton this year.  No one gave us a snowball's chance either. :D

Mr. Ypsi

BV totally self-destructed in the first game today (SIX errors, including three errors on three consecutive batters in the 8th, giving Carthage five runs on NO hits! :o); Carthage returned the favor in the final, yielding the winning run on an error.

Congratulations to BV!  You will be among the least respected teams in Appleton, if not the least - so were my Titans last year!  As a CCIW guy, I rooted for Carthage today; as a Central Region guy, I'll root for you next week - go and pull an IWU! :o ;D

Well, BV, looks like you dodged the big one.  It would have been a total bummer to make the CWS for the first time, then have the world end before you got to go! :o ;D

Congrats to B.V. for the first baseball regional title for the school since an NAIA title in 1968.

They also are the first IIAC school to win a regional since Wartburg in 2005. :)

Two conference bids for the IIAC and a regional title!  This is the postseason that many of us have been hoping the see the last few years. :)

Agreed!  I was on the Iowa Conference website looking for the score, but this game wasn't one of the headlines when I looked.

No 0-2 and barbeque!  Keep going B.V.!

Another win for the Beavers!  8-5 over Keystone in the winner's bracket. Next up, Marietta.

Keep going!  I am happy to deal with the idea that B.V. should recruit well from this postseason success as it should help the whole league overall.

Congratulations to BV! :)

Winning two games in your first trip ever to the d3 CWS is quite a feat!

And I suspect that single-handedly knocking out two reps from the CCIW is unprecedented (Carthage and IWU went 4-0 against everyone else, 1-4 against BV). :o ;)

A great, great season, despite it ending a couple of games short of where you wish it had.

3rd place in the NCAA national tourney is not bad at all for a team that did not win the IIAC regular season nor IIAC tourney.

They were expected to win the IIAC this year, but I am sure they are no longer too sad about that with how they did at nationals. :P

That's quite the coaching carousel for Cornell baseball over the past few years.  I understand that is typically a low paying position and the potential is there for coaches to leave on a regular basis.  But it would be nice for Cornell to find someone local that wants to stick around and coach the baseball team for years and years and build the program up.

This stinks!

The 2004, 2007, and 2009 teams were really a lot of fun to watch!  I thought that Coach Gillogly and the staff did a very good job with the 2010 and 2011 versions of the Norse.

I follow Norse Football and Wrestling as well, but I also see a lot of Iowa Football and Iowa Wrestling.  In the spring for many seasons I follow Luther Baseball.  The Hawks and other teams that are just starting (high schools, MLB) are a distant 2nd in April and May.

Thanks Coach Gillogly for bringing Luther Baseball back to a level closer to what they used to be.
