I didn't see how Central did in softball, but I did see the other three teams won.  Luther won 1-0 over Washington University in 10 innings.

Good day for the Knights.

Tomorrow is BV and Simpson at 10
Coe and Loras at 1
and Luther vs. Wartburg at 4.

Will the Norse throw Hyland (6-0) tomorrow or try to bring Todd (6-3 2.80 ERA) back for some innings even though he threw two today to get the save against Coe?  Big game tomorrow!

Whoever is going to win the tourney better be ready to hit as these nine innings tourney games are going to thin out many of the pitching staffs.

I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

Great season for Loras even though they went 0-2 in the tournament.  They came out of nowhere at midseason to go on a run and win the first conference title of any kind since the 1950s.

They kept hitting, but they gave up 18, 12, and 10 runs in the last three losses.

Luther wins a huge game against Wartburg tonight, 9-2.  The actual game took less than 2 hours to play, but rain delays pushed it around 4 hours.

Cody Hyland really came through for the Norse!  He moved to 7-0 on the season as he limited the Knights to 2 runs over 8 innings.  The Norse were leading 5-1 after 3 innings, but I was ticked/worried when the long rain delay hit when everything was going well.  Not only did Luther outscore the Knights 4-1 after the delay, but Hyland was able to stay loose enough to continue to pitch 8 innings and keep the Norse pitching in great shape.  Great job.

Alex Thomas hit the first HR of his college career.  Jake Waddle got a couple big hits as well.

Todd (6-3 2.80 ERA) hopefully will be physically ready to go to take on the winner of the Coe/BV/Wartburg games tomorrow.

What are the chances of two IIAC's teams getting in the tournament?  If a second gets in, who is it?  Luther or Coe?  Coe ranked higher in the latest regional rankings and went 3-2 in the tourney, while Luther went 2-2 with a bye?

Thoughts?

I think that most people think that the Central is so average/balanced/unstellar that the Central might be passed over for a bid?

The #4 seed won the tourney from the loser's bracket?

Yea that stinks. I thought Luther was a great team this year and could have made some noise in regionals. I think they had the credentials to deserve a Pool C bid, but the Mideast I think is going to take a couple/

Congrats to Wartburg as the Knights got it done on Saturday.  The Knight pitchers did a great job of coming back and finding a way when the arms had to be dead in a couple of cases.

I am not sure why Coe would be the next team from the Iowa Conference that deserves an at-large bid.  They did not win the regular season title like Loras and Luther, they did not win the postseason title like Wartburg did, and they lost three of four to Luther and did not have the conference or overall record of Luther.

Coe had a good season and I enjoyed talking to a few of the parents during the series in Decorah.  However, I would think either of the co-champs has a stronger case for postseason play.
