@duffman - this is some good news.  Live video.

EDIT:  And more video.  Finally people have decided to start living life again.

Use https://twoseven.xyz/home to watch interactively w/ friends. Retired Old Rat and I watched the basketball game "together" tonight. You can video chat and text live during the game/match.
The double edge sword of technology. SJU protects their content/product fiercely, other MIAC schools are happy to have you show up, live or virtual. If SJU Athletic Marketing embraces these types of platforms, they can sell more "video season passes" which would allow video watch parties for fans from all over to watch with their friends/families. We'll have to see how this plays out.
Right on...we tried watching the Irish hurling championship through this platform this past fall and the GAA.go app blocked it. Wonder if SJU and stretch will be able to do some. It would be nice when i can make it to a game to be able to interact live w friends!
I bet you know a guy at SJU who can see the big picture and embrace this technology and it's potential for growth.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

I can think of two.

Yikes.  The Auggies skunked the Johnnies 6-0 in hockey and took 13 of 14 contests in the wrestling.  Good weekend for them.  The Jays looked good playing hoops, though.

It looks like Winning with No will make it’s way to the big time.

EDIT:  Doh. Winning with No, not Coaching.

Speaking of  d3hoops

I see Mount Union and St. John's are ranked 2 ad 3 respectively in the nation. Who says these schools only play football? Ya gotta luv it!

I posted this on the basketball board but that page doesn't get a lot of action. Please share your thoughts:

As Anders Nelson and Coach Tauer wax nostalgic about the final MIAC season i have to ask how many of the current U$T athletes will make Tommie roster next year?

MIAC presidents are expected to meet next week, after which they could determine that, among reasons, including the cost of COVID-19 testing, there will be no spring football. That means the end of the St. John's-St. Thomas rivalry.

But aren't they already doing CV testing for every other sport?  Wrestling for Pete's sake?  Or do you sneeze more playing football?

Wrestling for Pete's sake?

Wrestling is not a MIAC-sponsored sport.  ;)

I get tested weekly for work--I'm sure they could manage.  Maybe it due to the larger roster sizes of football teams?

I'm still not sure what I think about spring football.  I don't really think I'll miss it if it doesn't happen.

A tradition unrivaled...

That's what I was thinking. Testing 10-20 is very different than 80-100 people I guess, in terms of cost. But I know a lot of schools are already doing routine testing of on-campus students as a monitoring and mitigation effort.

I hope they can find a way to make it work. I'd love to see what we have going into the Pioneer League transition. And see one last Tommie-Johnnie game, even if the teams don't have reason to take it 100% seriously.

Indoor track season just started (I think I saw a mention of a recent meet) and the track squad would be quite large. Football should be compared to the entire athletic student body and not any one other sport.  Anyways, I wouldn't be surprised to find that football got caught in the whirlwind and is the activity which must take the punishment so all the others can go on unmolested.

I won't particularly be thrilled by the season but I think they should play.

Indoor track is the current season though, not one getting moved from fall.
If football gets moved from fall, you have to think volleyball, soccer, etc all need to have a chance for some level of conference play and that's not a foregone conclusion. I assume schools are prioritizing the winter and spring seasons, and will evaluate what it takes for moving the fall seasons. If there isn't a conference schedule, it's still conceivable some of the teams could try to put together a short season and have something to work and practice towards, with a couple of glorified scrimmages.

That, moved seasons, is a different argument and far more reasonable than covid testing costs.  If someone said that moving football would ruin the other sports then that would need to be considered.
