The Foo Fighters are one of my wife's favorite bands.  While I don't hate them, they just do nothing for me.  If I'm in the car without her, I change the station.  If she's along, I know better.  ;D

A tradition unrivaled...
MIAC Champions: '32, '35, '36, '38, '53, '62, '63, '65, '71, '74, '75, '76, '77, '79, '82, '85, '89, '91, '93, '94, '95, '96, '98, '99, '01, '02, '03, '05, '06, '08, '09, '14, '18, '19, '21, '22, '24
National Champions: '63, '65, '76, '03

Oh, and I realize it's nearly sacrilegious, but I would gladly live the rest of my life without hearing another Beatles song.

Foo Fighters...  I want to like them but that name.  It's so irritating that I can't name a single song.

Perry Como. Perry Como? More on that later.

My choice of a reason to change the station is, keep in mind I'm old, Louis Armstrong. I am a huge jazz fan, going back to the early 50's. I can't handle his Dixieland trumpet playing. And he sure as hell can't sing, though he did a lot of it. I was at a Newport (Rhode Island) Jazz Festival in 1959. When Armstrong came on stage, a very large number of people walked out. The typical comment I heard was, "I didn't come here to listen to this crap". So he gets my vote for your challenge.

BDB, do you think maybe you need a hobby of some kind? Just a thought!

Now! What -  Perry Como? The guy was so relaxed when he sang that he almost fell asleep. You younger guys have no appreciation for the classics! Remember Bing Crosby, Margaret Whiting, Helen O'connell, Ella Fitzgerald and many more. Oh, and don't forget that skinny kid - Frank Sinatra. Another young guy did pretty well - named Tony Bennett.

So there! I MUC57'ed in response to your comment on Perry Como (former barber from Cannonsburg, Pa.)

Have to run now. My nurse is here with my afternoon meds. They're trying to slow me down. Go Everybody!

Man, we're going clear back to gramophone recordings.  I admit I've got a secret passion for the old timey bluegrass music which drives the family nuts.  But the girls will discretely tap their toes along to Foggy Mountain Breakdown when I play it.

Sorry for tripple post, but this is relevant news: Supreme Court Rejects NCAA’s Tight Limits on Athlete Benefits, Compensation

QuoteThe decision doesn’t open up a world of unlimited pay for college athletes, an issue that wasn’t before the court.

Instead, the justices said the NCAA must allow colleges to recruit athletes by offering them additional compensation and benefits, as long as they are tied to education.

That means schools could offer compensation beyond the cost of attending college, such as scholarships for graduate or vocational schools, internships, computer equipment and study-abroad programs—and limited cash awards for athletes who do well in the classroom.

It looks like the dam is breaking.  A unanimous ruling so it looks like the decision was pretty clear cut to make.  I had a quick skim of the ruling (https://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/20pdf/20-512_gfbh.pdf) and it looks like it considered D1 only.  I couldn't find reference to lower level play.  But does this mean the QB could sign a sponsorship deal directly with a Johnnie sponsor?  Maybe compete with the program itself for sponsorship dollars?  Dunno.

It will be interesting and maybe a little troubling to see how this affects the already obvious problem of the DIII football haves and have nots.

MUC57, you never disappoint.  Louis Armstrong? Holy moly. Always wondered if his lips were a bit misshapen because he actually had played trumpet so much that they flattened out. I suppose that is the reason.
I remember the first Vikings Superbowl vs KC in New Orleans and the pregame had Louis in a Viking hat dueling with Doc Severinsen wearing a Chiefs head wear.
And certainly Perry Como had some golden pipes. I was more of a Dean Martin guy myself.
On his variety show he would be half in the bag with a drink in one hand and a Marlboro in the other and sing like a million bucks.  8-)

MW57, you left out Ken (Festus) Curtis who replaced Frank Sinatra as Tommy Dorsey's  vocalist and The Singing Rage, Miss Clara  Ann Fowler from Claremore OK.

The older the violin - the sweeter the music!

Robert Zimmerman

The Eagles. Even worse than The Eagles? Any of the individual solo stuff by a member of The Eagles.

BDB

Welp. Who knew this survey would take rips at such notables such as the Beatles,  Boston, the Eagles,  Nirvana via Foo Fighters, Fleetwood Mac and even Louis Armstrong fercrissakes.

Let's hear some more. Submissions remain open.

Pearl Jam. My first name is Jeremy. Jeremy's Spoken came out in 7th grade. Oh I hated them. Made the year miserable. When Pearl Jam comes on I still have to change the station.

Yup. Some songs can be a weight to carry.

Of course no songs are written about Bob. Not that I can think of anyways.

We just get kid shows named after us, like Bob the Builder, Spongebob etc.

I'll second Duff on the Beatles, another infatuation I never will understand.

Not that I need the boost Oz, but those songs suck. The gif however is Perry Como perfection.

Well, when you consider the material they have to work with...
