I, too, wonder how the vistors are supposed to see the scoreboard.  I'd be ticked if I were at a venue and I couldn't see the scoreboard.

Or the opposing teams coaches that are on the sideline. It does look very nice, regardless of where it's located.

I like that when it's turned off you don't really see it.  And against the hill it won't block the view of the leaves in autumn.  Despite possibly (probably) blocking the view of the hillside patrons, I think they have placed it in the best spot possible.  Perhaps a clock, down count and scoreline digital clock-like display up on the press box is the only addition that could be wanted.

Are they doing something else with the south end zone area that they had to get rid of the old scoreboard?  The new videoboard looks beautiful but I'm not sure it'll be better for viewing the down and distance, etc.  You've also got the issue of choosing between showing the video on the full screen view when it looks the best but the scorebug will be hidden and no one will have any idea of the clock or score, or you keep the scorebug on top and show the video in a more cramped format underneath.

It's up!  New Scoreboard at SJU

I suspect many of the BU fans will have new scoreboard envy, even though I have no idea what is going to be put up in place of the old one. There are no clues on the 24 hour feed, though it is kind of fun to see all the players running around on the practice field in the background doing drills. I'd been checking on on that webcam every now and then - was assuming they'd have it ready in time for fall practice, but I guess not.  The field has looked about the same every time I've looked for awhile - maybe they have to get the track further along before they put down the turf?

Are they going to be able to play there in a month?

Looks ready to go to me.  Just paint some lines, and get ready to throw down!  Does that not suit your soft-skinned Johnnies!?!?  ;)

(I don't really know.  I know the original intention was to host the first game on it, but of course construction timelines can change - though I haven't heard about their first home game being re-located.)

Yeah, same here - it's crickets about the construction timeline. The BU website says the first home game is against UW Platteville on the 11th of September.

Y'all are probably welcome to come play at Northwestern if your field isn't ready.  We could have a doubleheader as we're playing Buena Vista at 6.

Baby blue shorts? What do you all think?

I'm fine with it in a practice setting.

Another Johnnie and I were talking this afternoon about how the possibility of a 1930s uniform throwback is closer than we think.

That's a light blue uniform with red trim for those who don't know.

Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

90 years later and Johnnies still have that trademarked look.  My Aussie wife claims she can spot a Johnnie from 100 meters.

Bartch got the start in the Jag's first pre-season game.  He and Trevor Lawrence were doing a couple helmet taps so it looks like Bartch is setting in.  As the Vikings suck so completely I'm glad I've got one player to cheer for.

The "official" color is Marian Blue! I think there may have been blue in the uniforms when John first arrived.  It might be a "tall tale"....I think John opted to eliminate blue and go with red only as a cost saving measure.  I believe baseball and football are the only sports without Marian Blue in their uniform colors.  Basketball switched to blue uniforms for road games back in 1977-78, but have switched back and forth over the years.  I think the blue hockey jerseys are really sharp.... Not sure I would like football to abandon the traditional red /white look!!!
